Ok, I never write reviews but this place is the exception!
I first visited in 2020 and planned to stay a week and ended up staying 3 months!! I first came across Kangaroo Pouch at Busua beach around the time of the music festival in March as they had all the main events right in front and encompassing the hotel. It was spectacular.
I’ve returned again and just want to make a special mention of the staff and location. We are talking beachfront with a super fun and funky restaurant serving all kinds of food and a fully stocked bar (not to mention room service!) all which can be hard to find in Ghana!
The staff are friendly, caring, knowledgeable and go over and well beyond what is expected red of them. They are by far the friendliest in Busua.
The facilities are incredible, the rooms are always pristine and so clean and you can tell a lot of effort has gone into choosing the small things like good quality bedding and a great comfy mattress. I have a spinal injury so finding the best mattress in Ghana was unexpected but a welcome relief. My back felt so much better after a few days. The rooms are geared entirely to westerners but still have that undeniable Ghanaian vibe which is cool.
I loved this place so much I returned this year to stay for 2 weeks and again extended and stayed a month!!
I was lucky enough to meet the owner when the music festival was on and you can see why the staff are so happy and well trained. The owner is a delightful woman who has plenty of time for a chat or twenty.
I was also lucky enough to get a massage from the international masseuse while I was there to top off the experience which was the only place I found a masseuse in Ghana!
The overall vibe of the place is chill and super friendly. I can’t wait to go back to my home away from home!

I stayed there for about 4 nights late november. Never have I experienced such genuine hospitality. The woman running the place was very nice, when I got sick with malaria, she took good care of me and gave me medicine (for free) and brought food of my choice to my room for a very good price. The staff will take good care of you and it's a beautiful location right on the beach. I went around the villages in the beginning comparing the hotels and this is clearly the best for the buck. Only reason for giving 4 star instead of five for the room is that it does not quite live up to a 4 star hotel standard which it is supposed to be, the shower had quite low pressure.
Big recommend!

I stay at the Kangaroo Pouch Beach Resort for two nights. Rooms are clean and bed feels comfortable. Zinabu the Manager as well as the cook makes some of the delicious food. Siting at the front yard viewing the beautiful sandy beach was lovely and cool

Spend 2 nights here.
First night I stayed in a room with a fan. Unfortunately I didn't sleep at all as the mattress was horrible and I was also too hot to be able to sleep.
Decided to change to a room with AC. AC wasn't working properly, took the whole day to cool down the room and the whole floor got wet.
The matrass in this room was also horrible. They should renew the matrasses ASAP!
I moved hotels after these 2 nights with barely sleep.

Showers were awful in both rooms. Second one even stopped working so had to do a bucket bath.

The breakfast was just some milo and a small piece of bread and egg. Again, very dissapointing.

I really like the interior, the location etc but unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it based on the bed.
Theres better places you can find in Busua for the same price.

A spot with great potential that's been allowed to get run down. Needs painting & renovation and younger staff need training. Water pressure was iffy. No shower and no hot water unless you asked staff to boil you some.
Breakfast menu was bald and the staff (2 girls) didn't know what scrambled eggs were (but the menu stated that they would make eggs however you wanted).
Made it a point to spend most of the time outside on the beach, which is their redeeming feature. Gorgeous view of the ocean from the first floor.
Budget accommodation really shouldn't mean mediocre.

The place is a bit old but the location is just perfect! Room had AC and amazing beach view. Surf rental and nice restaurants literally next door. Also, you can eat at Kangoroo Pouch.
Unfortunately, the Wifi did not work.
Most importantly the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, definitely would stay there again whenever coming back to Busua ❤️

Hotel is in a great location. Beach and outdoor area lovely. Rooms clean. Great parties at weekends. Shame about the 90 minutes wait for simple food and didn't have alot of the things on the menu or drinks menu.

I am just wrapping up my second girls weekend in Busua at Kangaroo! This great spot is right on the beach and has the best value for what you get on the strip. Naomi, the chef is great and can cook, sauté, grill up the best lobster yet. Just ask the local fishermen about their catch. Solomon, the manager is also great and extremely helpful. Go, kick your feet up and let the fun begin! Ohh check out Bright's surfing too! They saved my friend from becoming one with the 'deep blue sea'!

This place has not been reviewed for two years but on a friend’s recommendation, we decided to book two rooms before we came here. On the night we arrived, there was no electricity for the whole town (for about a week it had been unstable). There were a few hotels which had their own generator but this place did not.

We originally booked two rooms with AC but when we came, only one room had the AC working. The rooms are smaller but it is a beach front place with nice views of the ocean. However we did not want to pay 130 Cedi for the AC room to sleep in the dark (with no fan, no AC, no fridge, no TV) as other rooms are much cheaper. We tried to explain to the manager that we want to stay in the AC room at a discount rate (pay the same price as a room without AC) and when the power comes on we will pay the full price.

The manager refused and said that he cannot give us the AC room at that price even though nothing would be working. We did not want the hassle of staying in one room and moving the next day. Even though he would not lose anything giving us the bed (which would be free to run), he became rude and refused. We left to stay at another hotel.

I hope that people who stay here have more positive experience than we did.
