Went to Busua Beach Resort Hotel to spend the Easter holidays with friends. Heard so much about the resort. There is no doubt about the beautiful beach and the wonderful settings. The cottages are wide spread in a huge land just on the beach. We were lucky to get the cottages closest to the beach and could get the magnificent sea view, cool breeze, and sound of waves. The view is breathtaking but the cottages are not. I found the décor very poor. Deep blue colour wall and bedding. Very poor quality furniture. Curtains were almost falling down. Was difficult to cover the windows properly with curtains. The bathrooms were small and the water was not coming with enough force to clean the sands from the body. A beach side hotel should have at least proper wash room. We paid USD250 per night (Easter special price) including breakfast, dinner, some water and a bottle of wine. Though all these were inclusive, I certainly will say that the price was too much for such kind of accommodation. In other parts of Ghana, you get better quality hotel in much cheaper price but may be you won't get the sea to swim.
Anyway, we spent most of the time on the beach, swimming to our heart's content. Very safe for tourists. We enjoyed the full moon just under open sky till late night. The weather was just perfect. The sea was smooth and we could go quite deep inside to swim. Many were enjoying gliders and swimming with surf board. The hotel also had three small pools for young and adults. They were clean, but the open air shower area is a mess. The used water was not passing and created another dirty pool and looked disgusting and smelly. It was not a good site. The cleaners were cleaning everywhere except that horrid place.
The dinner were served once next to the pool and another time next to the sea. The surroundings were beautiful but the food was not. I found the food tasteless. Breakfast menu was also not very attractive. I could not imagine how people could eat rice and fish for breakfast!!
Overall, we enjoyed our walk on the beach. We enjoyed the splashing of the waves and swam for long hours though many polythene bags were floating and getting into our legs. It was enjoyable three days despite all the problems.

We stayed at Busua Beach Resort just after Christmas together with another family. We had a great time if it not had been for how the hotel handled a drowning accident. Strong currents and big waves together with crowds of people and almost no security ( two guys guarding 250m of beach). Three people died, two of them never came ashore. The hotel didn't do ANYTHING! No information, no signs, no warnings. Please be careful if going there. Ask how the currents are before you jump in.
The hotel is ok although a bit pricy. Breakfast was emptied early and the fillings slow. Dinner was buffet and all right. We had much nicer food at Busua Inn.
The rooms are poorly maintained but clean. When I turned the tap on I got it in my hand. Tiles were missing in the bathroom.
We played tennis in the evenings and the lights were great. The nets could be mended though.
Staff ok. A bit confusing when they gave us different information about the offers included in our stay. Some said drinks was included some said no drinks.

Nice place but very shabby, high priced for only a nice beach. Don't expect more. I've been there several times and I have noticed a constant downgrade. Management is very far from customers needs and in fact is not interested at all. All place is running down but they are happy with it and don't want to change anything. If you like disappointment and very bad service, you will be delighted.
NEVER AGAIN!!!

Our stay at the Busua Beach Resort was unfortunate. We were looking to splurge for a weekend on this nice resort. We got to the hotel and immediately went to eat at their (expensive) onsite restaurant. When we got back to the room, it still wasn't cool so we tried calling the front desk. The phone didn't work. So we went up to the front desk. The reception sent maintenance. Maintenance told us we should switch rooms, and they took us to two different rooms, one much smaller, and the other one unmade with no chance of cleaning the room until the next day. The maintenance put some freon in the a/c at midnight which lasted through the next day. The next day, we went to reception and spoke to the manager who only took $15 off the room. The second night the same thing happened and she took $13 off the room. She gave us her card and ensured next time it would be better. Four trips to reception for this problem, and we don't believe there will be a next time. African Rainbow Resort also offers a/c and hot water for much cheaper. The Busua Inn is a delight and the food is amazing. When you pay as much as Busua Beach Resort charges, you expect to get what you pay for. Unfortunately, this is not the case here. Additionally, the poolside is filthy without bathroom facilities and fish bones from someone's meal all over.

this complex is marketed as an upmarket resort. the reality is quite different. Built 15 years ago, the chalets are very small and our room smelled badly of damp. The room was not clean - there was hair in all the corners in the bathroom, dirt on the bedroom floor and I suspect the sheets had not been changed after the previous guests left. We were subjected to loud live music til late at night and the food was inedible. Stewed liver for breakfast anyone? BBR's foreign currency rates are criminal - we changed UK pounds at 1.70cedis to £1. Later the same day, we changed for 2.20cedis to £1 at Busua Inn. I know hotel rates are never great but Busua beach resort are taking 25% commission!!!!!!!

I have stayed in much worse hotels but at US$160 per night, this is the worst quality/price I have come across in a long time.

Busua itself is a beautiful place. Stay at the Busua Inn (see other reviews), African Rainbow or Dadson's. They are all small hotels but offer clean, simple rooms and a warm welcome - for a fraction of the price.

Probably the cleanest beach area in the country...has a great view of the sea and everything around is kept green, tidy and we'll shaped
I don't no if this hotel is a 3*or 5* hotel..but the rooms are average!

I think the place is well kept!...the workers are very friendly and I enjoyed the sea food served...maybe the food is a little bit expensive but you don't expect things to be cheap in the coast areas....I'll probably go back there when possible ...nice clean beach and lot of lovely locals...

The resort is ok, but nothing fancy. It is however situated at the peacful village Busua - very charming. The rooms etc are at an acceptable level and breakfast is very good. BUT, when I arrived late at night with a printed dokument showing a comfirmation of my booking AND payment - they said: "No, we have not received your payment, so you have to pay again at the desk." I had to, could not go anywhere at that time. It took me almost 2 days and a lot of "discussions" to get them to send a mail to Hotels.com so I would not be doublecharged. Terrible staff and behaviour! (On the contrary: Hotels.com where very professional and helped me out!)

If you are used to traveling in West Africa, your basic expectations will be met, considering the Busua Beach Resort is run by a hotel chain. The rooms are basically clean, the immediate beach was pleasant, if rather poorly equipped with adequate sun beds, umbrella's and chairs. You had to beat the rush in the morning unless you wanted to sit in our towel for the rest of the day. The food was incredibly average and the service was like watching paint dry. The average lunch required two hours from seeking the attention of a server, to ordering, waiting for your food, then your bill, then your change etc. There are other great eating choices nearby including a small family run French Restaurant just down the beach. Last thing, I booked and paid for a suite online and received a double room when I arrived even though I could prove I had paid for suite. The hotel seemed very uninterested in contacting the booking agent to resolve the issue which left me short-changed. Overall, it was quite relaxing, sufficiently restful, but a generally average experience.
