African Rainbow Resort in Busua is a comfortable, spacious and clean hotel with friendly staff. We have airconditioned rooms just as naturally ventilated rooms with a great sea breeze. The hotel also offers an amazing rooftop which is open to everyone, just as a restaurant. You can find us next to Busua Beach Resort!

We were so well looked after here. Unfortunately my wife and I were ill at the time of our stay, but Comfort, Joseph and Celestina took great care of us, giving us medicine, taking us to the medical centre, and even climbing trees to get coconuts for us. Aside from this great care, the place is lovely and spacious, with large rooms, a HUGE bed, a lovely roof terrace and great pizzas! We sat in the front garden amid beautiful flowers for breakfast every morning, and played pool in the evenings. A really strong recommend, and much gratitude for the time we spent with you.

We took two fan rooms as the top of the hotel for $60 having negotiated on the price as the hotel was largely empty.

I liked the room, which had a good sea breeze, balcony, large space, fridge, wardrobe/hanging space. My friends thought it was 'okay' but I liked the sea view also.

The rooms are light and airy and there is a roof top balcony with a great view.

Breakfast was funny - we were asked ''do you want scrambled egg wet or dry?'' so we asked for one of each but it was the same polystyrene balls of 'egg' with toasted cake. Strange but true.

The hotel is next two Busua Beach Resort which is twice the price but dingy and grim. These rooms are nicely decorated with african fabrics etc rather than Busua Beach Resorts' melamine furniture.

Our rooms were not made up/ cleaned during the day and we weren't asked. It would be good as the rooms get sandy despite the outside tap for de-sanding...

A little over priced for the asking price of 120 GHS for a fan room but negotiated to 90 I thought it was good! The room was clean, bright, airy and really nicely decorated - not tired and shabby at all which is a plus for Ghana!!!

Also go to Dan the Pancake Man for breakfast instead of wet/dry egg. Well, maybe try the egg first so you can see for yourself!

We would definitely go back next time we go to Busua.

This is one of the most civilized hotels in the area, with running water/showers and (sometimes) a/c! We paid for a room with a/c but the power goes out often and they do not always turn on the generator in a timely manner.
The rooftop "bar" was almost abandoned and the "bartender" had no idea what service was or how to make a drink. The pizza is good though!
The rooms are very clean and nice for Ghana. The price is a little high for the area.
They include a free breakfast that was quite good, but the same everyday.
Even though its a bit of an ordeal, they take Visa cards for payment, not usually available in very many hotels in Ghana.
Over-all a decent place.

Went in March and it was hard to sleep without A/C the first night, the second night I had it and slept very well. Comfortable beds, pretty clean bathrooms. It's across a street from the beach so nice if you're looking to get away from the craziness if there are any events (We we're there during Easter which was a party).

Nice staff. Breakfast included which is a plus in Busua.

First, the hotel is located in Busua, stone throw distance from beach. A lot of travelers might not evaluate this property while traveling to Busua due to its misleading address.

Second, its the Second Best Place to stay in Busua, but right on top in terms of Value for Money. The best being Busua beach resort which is around 3 times as expensive as this one and located next to this property. However, as it usually goes you can stay here and make use of Restaurant and some other facilities of Busua Beach Resort.

Accommodation feels like home. Nice, clean above average rooms, with ample of parking place and security. They have a bar a top and makes place to have nice time. Food needs improvement. The place also houses a lot of African Artifacts and Souvenirs to choose from.

We had lunch at African Rainbow, but did not stay the night. Located within a short walk of probably every lodge/hotel in Busua, the African Rainbow is a large three story building with a wide patio in front where we dined. We ordered a veggie pizza, a chicken pizza and a plate of red-red & plantains – all quite tasty. I was quite surprised by the pizza -- theirs was as good or better than what you get in Accra. The prices were reasonable and the wait service was adequate. The owner and her daughter were very friendly. We checked-out the roof top bar after lunch (although it is not open until evening). It definitely offers the best view of town and the small island off the shore.

This is the sort of simple, family run place that I love. Don't come looking for luxury, but if you like locally run, comfortable, very clean places, with good food and a friendly face - and all just a stone's throw from a beautiful expanse of African beach - this is your place. Personally I much prefer this kind of experience to the homogenised large, international hotel where you could be anywhere in the world...

Hotel in Busua (not Takoradi).

Good things:
In a great location - walk across the street to a path to the beach; lots of parking
All rooms look over the beach/ocean - can hear ocean at night
Roof top bar with excellent view
Pool table - in very good shape!

Bad things:
Service - meals on the roof took hours to arrive, servers did not understand English - we tried it once but then went for all other meals to the other excellent restaurants available in Busua
Rooms - filthy dirty on arrival (room had probably not been used in months) - when we pointed it out, someone ran a dirty rag around the most obvious surfaces; did not offer to clean daily (had to beg for a roll of toilet paper)
Water outages - yes, we all understand it is Africa and there will be outages, but it's not reasonable when a guest reports that the water is not working and the staff show him how to fill the cistern to make the pump operate by himself...
Reservation - reserved an AC room but when we arrived we only got a fan room - apparently "someone else who had also reserved an AC room arrived before us"
Management - tried to talk to the manager but after she repeatedly told us (through her staff) that she was not available, she finally came out to yell at us and tell us we should stay in our own country and not come to Africa if we don't like it

Overall - so much potential but the result is yet another failure of Ghanaians not being able to deliver in the service industry. Most people visiting Africa are quite content with "African standards" in hotels/restaurants, but not when the prices are set at Western levels.

Good luck.

We stayed at this place during the week of power cut. It is the few places with a generator meaning there is power at least at night. It is quite expensive (300 for a room with AC and 240 for fan) compared to other places in the area but the manager was kind and gave us a discount.

The rooms are spacious, with a fridge and TV (although the TV was not working). The bathroom was nice and clean with towels and a new bar of soap. There is also hot water!

Breakfast was average and can be pricey. The lady at kitchen was trying her best but she would often forget or confuse our orders. Once we ordered pancakes and the honey was full of ants however the lady promptly gave us another bottle. Nevertheless, the managers and all the workers are kind and friendly.

"As covered in my text, I would recommend if you want some seclusion, try to request a room that is on either end of the complex, not in the middle. However, with the window design, you might hear noise regardless."
