We just got back from an amazing stay at Rocking Horse Ranch. First and foremost the staff were amazing. You can tell they really love their jobs. The activities director (I’m assuming that’s her title), Makaylah, was wonderful. She remembered our daughter Kinzie’s name after the first time they met and greeted her by name throughout our stay. She even went out of her way to track Kinzie down to say goodbye before we left. It’s kind gestures like this that set Rocking Horse Ranch above other resorts. The food was fresh, high quality, and delicious. We loved laser tag, the pools, archery, and the planned activities throughout the day. The horses were beautiful and very well cared for. Rocking Horse Ranch is a special place and we can’t wait to return.

Let me start by saying our family had a great time while staying at the Rocking Horse Ranch. We have 3 children 12-16 years old and there was enough here to entertain them. We stayed 4 nights but I think 3 nights would have been enough. The last day they were kind of tired of everything. We all enjoyed the food and the wait staff was great.
The only problem we had was with the crowds. There were lines for everything (water slides, banana boat, horseback riding and meals) and nobody wore masks outside, even when less than 3 feet apart, even in lines. The pool was crowded too. The only option for breakfast was to eat inside and the tables are about 3-4 feet apart. Almost every table was full. When I asked if there was another option, we were told we could take our food “to go” but in order to do that, we had to wait in a massive line to get our food (it was buffet style but they had people dishing it out) with lots of people walking by and everyone eating without masks close by. When I called to book, they told me that there would be outside eating available for every meal and reduced crowds. Supposedly they had a little more than 50% occupancy, I cannot imagine coming at full occupancy.
On a positive note, there is hand sanitizer everywhere and mostly everyone wore masks inside. This is not a negative review, we had a great time. I just want people to know that if you are nervous about Covid and social distancing, this resort is probably not for you. The outdoor space looked much larger online and the indoor breakfast was a little too crowded for us to feel comfortable.

Dear Flchi, Thank you very much for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I am certainly glad that your family had a great time while here at Rocking Horse. During your stay I was personally here and continually conducted space evaluations of our public areas throughout the day. During the dates of stay with us, there were at least 2 larger family groups that travelled together. We observed them gathering together and congregating while waiting in line and they were asked several times to separate. In the dining areas these family groups were kept at no more than 10 per table. As you indicated, we are very stringent on mask enforcement and social distancing especially when indoors. I apologize we didn’t totally meet your expectations and we will continue to evaluate each aspect of our property and continue to improve. Thank you again for your review and we look forward to hosting your family again soon. Happy Trails, Steve Turk, Owner

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
This 4 day trip was exactly what we needed to save a crap summer. I was pretty impressed with the cleanliness and continuous sanitizing efforts I saw by the staff. In the arcade, anytime we played a game and walked away, a staffer immediately sprayed it down and wiped it. There were efforts to minimize crowds everywhere and masks were required pretty much anytime you’re indoors unless you’re eating or swimming. And as long as it wasn’t raining, there were always efforts to hold lunch and dinner outdoors. It was our first time there but it won’t be our last. However we also experienced some things that need improvement. During our 4 days there, I was not able to successfully connect to the wifi at all. I also wished there was some sort of app that would have the daily activities listed out instead of carrying around a piece of paper. The floors/ceilings are super thin. We heard the room above us all night and even though they were probably only walking, it sounded like heavy stomping. I hope RHR takes these recommendations into consideration and I would love to return when they’ve made some upgrades to their facilities.

Hello 730jenniel, We appreciate the feedback regarding your recent stay. It sounds like you had a wonderful time and are planning to visit again in the future. Regarding the wifi, we are actually in the process of upgrading it throughout the resort to provide stronger signals in every guest room. We have already completed an upgrade of the wifi in our lobby and common area spaces, and guests are already using it for work and school meetings. Our daily itinerary is available digitally. Guests are welcome to stop by the front desk to scan a QR code that provides the days activities, facility times, and more right on their phone. The rooms here at The Ranch are constantly being upgraded and improved for guest enjoyment. Again, we appreciate your feedback, and look forward to seeing you again soon! Steve Turk-Owner

We were here November 1 2019 and really enjoyed it so it made sense to come back exactly a year later.
Unfortunately, we were greatly disappointed although not entirely RHR fault. Read on, you'll understand.
The entire day into the night, it rained and rained negating every single activity outside and if you've ever been here before, you know that the vast majority of activities are outside.
So Sunday was a complete and utter waste as you can just play so much ping pong or table hockey.
No one controls the weather obviously but considering we spent nearly $700 for one night and the majority of that cost is for outside activities, I think RHR should issue some sort of credit or refund when a complete total wash out happens.
The next day, while sunny, the wind chill was in the 20s once again negating most outdoor activities and by then, we just all wanted to leave. Again this is the fall, not winter.
So before I go on, take this as a "so you know" when considering booking here. If the weather is bad, there's very little "different" things to do even though you'll be paying for it. Again, I don't want to pay hundreds and hundreds to play pong etc.
One thing to note is that if you have young kids, they will enjoy the indoor water area and slide so that's a big option if it rains.
Onto the good about RHR.
They go way above and beyond when it comes to covid. Workers were seen sanitizing everything, from steaming the common areas to wiping down ketchup bottles.
There's absolutely no shortage of sanitizer everywhere.
I saw a couple of times workers reminding people to put their mask on in the lobby when they just forgot.
And the workers? Couldn't be nicer, friendlier or more helpful.
Onto the food.
Lunch was basic hamburger, hot dog, Cole slaw, fries, etc. but the dinner was amazing. The best Ribs and cornbread I've ever had.
One note about the breakfast and lunch though and this isn't RHR fault, but it is worth noting.
The food was cold. Two lunches and the breakfast were cold but i think it might be because of covid procedure.
In order to keep the dinning room, it's customers and workers safe, all the windows were open including the back door (fan was pushing the cold air out though) but obviously this leads to a cold dinning room and cold food.
Breakfast and lunch are buffet style with the workers getting you what you want.
I would suggest coming here in the summer or winter to take advantage of the skiing or new outdoor water park for all ages.
If it snows, at least you can do most outdoor activities. Not so when it Rains.

Hello Soave M, Thank you for the feedback regarding your recent stay. Our COVID safety procedures are paramount in keeping our guests and staff safe, and we thank you for your praise. With regards to weather, unfortunately it is something we cannot control as you stated. However, most of our outdoor activities continue to operate in the rain, including horseback riding. It is only on rare occasions where thunder and lightning are in the area that we temporarily suspend our outdoor operations. In addition, we typically add more indoor activities in cases of poor weather. Our Big Splash indoor pools are great fun for the entire family as you mentioned. Though we failed to meet your expectations, please note that we always strive to provide our guests with a fun, safe and memorable experience no matter the weather. Thanks again for your feedback, and we hope to see you again soon. Steve Turk-Owner

We stayed the first week of March for a weekend. We wished we had stayed longer. The food is buffet style for breakfast and lunch and dinner is served to you. The food is amazing! There is also a chef hour for snacks at 3pm with so much stuff. Pizza, nachos, cheeses etc. The place is very rustic which I love and soooo clean. The rooms were spotless and so was every inch of the restort including the locker room, common bathrooms and hangout spot by the fireplace. The indoor water park consists of a pool (3-4 foot deep) a tiny kiddie slide area, one large enclosed slide for bigger people and the amazing hot springs. They were not too hot and my 3 year old went in. I do wish there was more of a water park for big kids but it is really for the small kids. Perfect for my 3 year old. The rooms were nice and clean. We had a junior suite in the Oklahoma building which is outside the main building. Eventhough we had to walk a short distance in the cold to ge to the main building we didnt mind. We liked our room. Two rooms connected to each other, no door in between but it didnt matter. we brought our childs white noise machine. beds were not comfortable, that is my only complaint. very hard and hurt my back. horses were amazing. took 3 rides myself in total. beginner ride isnt as much fun because there as so many people and you have to keep waiting. I did intermediate two more times and it was the best. they have 113 horses and it is an amazing site. they give you a schedule of what is going on each hour. they had a comedian we had seen one night. he was ok. geered towards the kids obvoiously. Pony rides are cute. cant wait to visit in the summer once the outdoors is renovated. will def go back but it was really expensive.

This was my family’s first trip to a cowboy ranch and to RHR. We stayed from July 8-12 2020 and stayed in 2 adjoining rooms to accommodate our family of 7 people. The first impression of RHR is wow! It’s extremely clean, and they are following covid-19 guidance seriously which gave us great piece of mind. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. Beds are very comfortable.
The food is wonderful! While the standard buffet style meal is not offered due to COVID-19, there is a daily breakfast and lunch “buffet” where you can see the food, and your selections are served for you. Dinner was fantastic!! Chef Paul is simply the best, while his menu creations each night have a lot of options, he will also make to order other selections if you don’t find something you like on the menu. I have to say the horseradish salmon is to die for! Salad and rolls are served immediately when you sit down each night and food is served hot and within minutes of your order. Waitstaff is pleasant and everyone makes sure all your needs are met during your dining. At one point during dinner I needed a spoon, (to twirl my pasta of course) and approached Victor. I said “excuse me”, and Victor replied “yes ma’am what can I do for you?” Everyone on staff there approaches the guests this way, that they are there for you as their first priority. Excellent service!
The activities are plentiful! Horseback riding, banana boat, indoor and outdoor pools, bungee bouncing and rock wall climbing were some of our favorites! There is also a daily cocktail hour everyday by the pool featuring a complimentary signature cocktail with a huge selection of hot appetizers along with a live DJ.
If you’re looking for a trip to give your family more connections and quality time together this is it. The owner of the ranch, Steve was there everyday and was working right along his staff. It was so great to see his leadership and caring of our needs during our stay.
The only area we saw that needed improvement is the coffee. Unfortunately it’s not good at all, but there is a Dunkin’ Donuts 2 miles from the ranch and my husband made the morning trip for us. We absolutely loved our stay overall and would recommend it! Thank you RHR, and hope to be back!

This was our 2nd visit to Rocking Horse Ranch. We will definitely be back because my son LOVES it here. He still can’t stop talking about it. Positives are: the food is good, a variety of activities, bed was comfortable, water activities were fun. My son liked the arcade, bingo, pools, water slides and spray park, banana boat rides, pool volleyball, etc.
Negatives and our suggestions for improvement are:
Even though they say smoking is not permitted anywhere, people were still smoking and putting out their butts on the grounds. Staff didn’t say anything, even when I pointed it out.
Some of the rooms were damp. Maybe carpets need changing.
When I asked for an additional key, they just gave me the key without verifying my identity.
The kids menu needs to be varied. It was the same exact thing every day.
The indoor pool area is extremely slippery. My son fell and smashed his head. You need rubber mesh anti slip mats around the pool.
The rooms need updating. The rooms need charging stations or docking stations for phones and electronics.
The water pressure in the shower is very low.
The bath towels are tiny. They need to be bigger.
The rooms need more furniture for clothing storage.
Bingo was fun, but the prizes were boring. Why not do a money prize Bingo every couple of days? You could charge a fee of like, $10.
The outdoor pool needs a pool basketball hoop! My suggestion is put it on that little island in the middle of the pool. This would have made my son so happy and they are not terribly expensive.
There should be more price incentives for repeat visitors.
How about poolside meal and drink service for a fee?

Hello mycheyenne2003, Thanks for the feedback regarding your recent stay. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your 2nd visit so much that you are already planning a 3rd. With regards to your concerns, we will certainly review all of them with our team. Note that we are already in the process of renovating rooms around the resort. In addition, there are anti slip surfaces near the entries to our indoor water attractions, but we can certainly look into additional options. Your identity should have been verified when providing you with a replacement key, and the staff member in question has been reminded of this policy. Again, thank you for sharing, as it is feedback like this that allows us to continue to provide 5 star service to all of our guests. We look forward to seeing you again soon. This place is amazing. It is the perfect setup for families with small children. There are lots of different activities (skiing, tubing, indoor water park, horse riding); and everything is close enough for families to walk to. The resort has a child center in which parents could drop off kids for any amount of time (included in the rate for kids 3 or older).
It is truly all-inclusive as it includes ski lessons, ski equipment, all games and entertainment (except for arcade video games that use quarters).
The food is relatively good quality for an all-inclusive; and alcohol (which is not included in the rate) is moderately priced so not a rip off at all.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The resort has a lot of staff everywhere.

We stayed with our 28 year old son with autism. super clean, everyone wearing masks and social distancing. good quality food, served quickly. Tables spaced to keep social distance. All staff were very friendly. Explained that our son would need additional assistance during the trail rides. Wranglers were very accommodating and he did a trail ride both days we were at the resort. We enjoyed many of the activities, including mountain tubing, miniature golf, pedal boats, hot tub, horse drawn wagon ride and sing along at the bonfire at night. Although our son was over the age limit for trick or treating at the resort, he was allowed to participate, which made us happy since his annual Halloween dance was canceled this year due to the virus. It was probably his only opportunity to wear his costume this year. We especially enjoyed the mountain tubing, which was open during the day and at night. You get your own tube and there is a conveyor belt that pulls you up the hill. You can link two tubes together and ride down two at a time if you you like. Since we’re all over six feet tall, we went down super fast. Staff cleans equipment after every use, the tubes, life vests at the boats, and reins for the horses.
This resort is all inclusive, no extra charge unless you want alcohol or participate in some craft activities or the arcade.
I definitely recommend Rocking Horse Ranch Resort. It’s for all ages. Also I recommend this resort for people with developmental disabilities.

Hi Doreen, Thank you for sharing your recent RHR experience. We have developed a top flight safety and sanitization program, along with our partners at Montefiore Health Systems. Our COVID protocols meet or exceed the recommended guidelines in every aspect, and we're glad you noticed. The safety of our guests and staff is a top priority. In addition, the Ranch always welcomes guests with disabilities, many of whom return year after year to create new and lasting memories. We are thrilled to hear that you and your son had a wonderful time, and look forward to seeing you again soon. Until next time, happy trails! Steve Turk-Owner

Overall we and our kids love it, as we will continue to book each year! I’ve recc’d to many people as well. Rooms could use some updating, a few arcade games took our money and others seemed to have issues as well. Would like to see things open at 9am, not 10, especially the fun barn. Little kids are up early and everything seems to get going around 10, which is late IMO for it being a kid place. Love all the entertainment and options, like bingo, scavenger hunt and trivia. Would like to see more stations/areas with just ice water. Feel like there’s just the area with hot cocoa and that water has fruit in it. Food was great. Dinner food comes way too quickly. You order your salad and a few mins later the main dishes come out. Had my sons bday there and they do a nice job with the balloons and singing. Overall, staff is great! The restaurant manager, Victor? Was wonderful. Said he’s been there for 30 years. Very nice, gets things done and is a fast worker! Seems to be way too much food at the 3-4:30 tasting. Last year saw them throw away all the extra food that was there, which was hard to see! So much wasted food. Just a few reccds. Wonderful
Place though! Saw lots of Lysol cleaning happening and the antibacterial stations were good too.

Not that I am aware although we usually go in the winter.
No but there are waivers that need to be filled out before you ride the horses (and do certain other activities such as skiing which is available in the winter)
