Detailed Reviews
VERY well managed B&B and THAT does make a difference! Nice rooms (3) and grounds, all well maintained on a lovely quiet country lane with pleasant distant views. Pool and spa are attractive, clean and handy. Owners make sure that guests are comfortable and don't have to deal with problems (noisy guests, dogs, etc.) - rules are clear and reasonable. Felt anything that came up would be handled before we even had to speak up - in contrast to another Hudson B&B where it wasn't! Pleasant to have SEPARATE tables for breakfast (both outside or in depending on weather) that way you can interact or not as you prefer. Nice very well informed and helpful folks running the place with whom we DID visit for a while but didn't have to. At $115 a night this place is bargain for the area!!!

My husband and I were on our way home to Boston and had one night to spend in this beautiful area. It was very last minute...I was literally calling from the road with only an hour heads up. We pulled up and Sheila, the owner, came out and was so welcoming even though we dropped in on her so late. This ended up being an amazing choice of B&B for a few reasons...first, the home has a swimming pool AND a hot tub - very unusual for a B&B. The rooms are decorated in a more contemporary but still cozy way (no doilies or crazy floral patterns). And, wait for it...before buying Fox Hill, Sheila taught at a culinary school in the city and is a dietician! She had just been to the farmers market that afternoon. I have a wheat allergy, so I eat gluten free, but I wasn't going to make a thing of it since we booked so late and gave her no lead time. Sheila didn't skip a beat - she had GF mix on hand and asked if I liked blueberries with my waffles! I couldn't wait:).
We went up to our room, Euphrosyre, and it was great! Lots of purples and grays with a separate sitting room leading to the bedroom. Private bath had a standing shower, hair dryer available and plenty of towels. Sheila recommended New Paltz as a great college town with good restaurants and we went to check it out and had a great night. When we got back we hit the hot tub!
After a deep sleep we woke up and went down for some coffee before breakfast. Now, I don't know about most people, but the coffee served at a B&B can make a huge difference in the stay - I always remember if the coffee is bad or weak. Sheila served up some seriously strong coffee that was the perfect start to the day. Breakfast was awesome - my GF waffle with fresh blueberries was heaven, and for my husband Sheila made soft poached eggs with veggies and tortillas...he loved it and when she asked if he wanted half a waffle, he jumped on it. It was so delicious!! Sheila clearly loves being in the kitchen and creating great, fresh meals for her guests.
After talking with her, we learned that she has only run this B&B since December '12...hence the reviews for Jerry&Jeri. She is off to a great start and highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking to enjoy the attractions of the Hudson area or just a quiet night in. We would have loved a couple more nights here and will definitely be back. We took some quick photos that I'll post here too! Thank you Sheila for your hospitality!

We rented out the 3 rooms at Fox Hill for 2 nights to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday and had an amazing time. We had 8 people stay with us Saturday night and even had a 9th just join us for breakfast on Sunday and Sheila was happy to accommodate us. Sheila provided 2 different delicious breakfast options each morning, one sweet and one savory for each person to pick their preference.
There was ample outdoors space for us to walk around or hang out by the pool which Sheila kept open one more week than she had planned just for us. She provided towels for the pool for us to use. We went in the hot tub one night which was another great touch to the place.
The inside of the house was very clean and tastefully decorated. We were allowed to sit in the common room and watch tv together if we wanted to. The rooms each came with a queen bed and separate side room with a pullout couch. There was also a private bathroom for each of the rooms. Sheila provided clean towels int he bathroom. She also made the bed when we went out during the day. There is a cat living in the house which you will see downstairs but the rooms were still very clean without any cat hair or cat smell of any sort.
The location was great with a lot of beautiful scenery around the Hudson Valley within a 15 minute drive. Sheila was able to provide some great restaurant recommendations for dinner as well. Overall it was a terrific stay and perfect for the quiet relaxing getaway that we were looking for.

The ride to this B&B was beautiful. We pulled up the driveway and we were greeted by Sheila immediately. Her hospitality was superb to say the least.
She gave a little tour and showed us to our guest room: "Aglaia". Beautiful room and tastefully decorated.
We had breakfast on the deck both mornings - so serene, and the whether was just perfect. The breakfast was phenomenal both mornings, healthy and delicious!!
Love the courtesy bikes available. We took them for a stroll on the Walkway over the Hudson, the trail was just minutes from the B&B.
Unfortunately, we did not get to use the pool or hot tub, which we had planned to take advantage of; but we were site-seeing so much that we got back exhausted both nights. The property is beautiful - the pool, hot tub area, and the beautiful garden and Koi pond are so peaceful.
We're already making plans to return.

This was our first stay at Fox Hill, but it definitely won't be our last. Sheila is a gracious host and a fabulous cook. Each day you fill out a form and check your preferences for the next day's breakfast, as well as the time you would like to eat. The breakfasts are plentiful and delicious. She creates fabulous omelettes, makessweet potato fries, French Toast - you get the idea. There are DVDs available as well as lots and lots of books, interesting posters on the walls and all in all a feeling of warmth, creativity and hospitality.
Don't miss a session in the hot tub or a chance to go for a swim in the pool. The surroudning gardens are well kept and lovely to look at. Fox Hill is centrally located and only a few minutes' drive from most of the attractions in the area.
My husband and I wanted a few days away just to de-stress but we felt so peaceful after our stay at Fox Hill, that it was like taking a two week vacation. Highly recommend.

This place is great. Only 3 rooms in the entire inn. Yes you have to take care of yourself but you are also left alone to do what you want and we had the pool and the hot tub (in the rain, which was beautiful) all to ourselves. It is centrally located and you never feel as though you are in a 'hotel' you feel as though you are a guest in a friend's home. AND the breakfast is great. Home made with vegetables from the garden. If you need someone to baby you go to a Quality inn. I would and will go back in a heartbeat. Also, reasonably priced.

We stayed here recently and property is very dated. Although it is clean it has a musty smell and furnishings are quite old. Breakfast was not up to par as well. For the price it is adequate but not anything to rave about.

FoxHill is located close to the Mid-Hudson Bridge making it possible to maximize time in the Hudson River Valley, since inevitably some things you'd like to do are on one side of the river, and some things on the other. That's a huge advantage.
Sheila is a great host. She's seen to the details: there's a pool and hot tub, so come prepared to use them. There's a wonderful koi pond tucked away in the gardens. Inside, the house is spotless, the rooms are very large and ours (Aglaia) had a sofa area so it was like having a suite. Nice towels, GREAT showers, genuine privacy, so you can really relax. DVDs to watch, national newspapers, recent books to read. Breakfast is professionally made, like a spinach and feta omelet, with tzatziki (yogurt/dill) sauce for thyme-flavored breakfast potatoes, delicious sausage or bacon, PLUS fresh fruit, endless coffee, fruit juice. So don't even think about eating lunch. Gay friendly. Highly recommended, a genuine pleasure. Btw, if you are into dining, it's tough to beat the CIA for meals, but Sheila recommended some local places to us that were special because they were offering good food in a friendly atmosphere and had some local character.

Located just across the Hudson from Hyde Park, an easy fifteen minute drive to the Culinary Institute of America, FDR sites, and the Vanderbilt Mansion, Fox Hill B & B is a lovely home on about three or four acres of exquisitely gardened and landscaped property off a quiet, densely wooded country road.
My wife and I stayed in the second floor Euphrosyne room, which included an airy and comfortably decorated bedroom, sitting room, and bathroom with shower. The other two guest rooms were also inviting.
Besides the soothing garden alcoves and substantial porch area (great for late afternoon naps before heading out to dinner), there is a large swimming pool and hot tub to cool off in on hot days. The property is clean and very well maintained throughout. You can depend on the information on the Fox Hill website - it is an honest description of the home and amenities.
Breakfasts, cooked and served by owner Sheila Fishman, were generous and tasty, offering fruit, juice, and two creative entree options each day. The meal, served in a sunny room, was accompanied by classic songs by Louis Armstrong and Bessie Smith. (And you may catch a glimpse of Flatbush, Sheila's gentle cat.)
Fox Hill is laid back, friendly, and welcoming - reflecting its owner - and it is a terrific value for Hudson Valley. Highly recommended.

My daughter and I stayed four nights at this lovely and "chill" spot.
The proprietress, Sheila F, was welcoming and helpful-not to mention an awesome
breakfast chef. She suggested hikes, points of interest in the area, places to eat and even directed us to a reputable Tattoo Shop in town, as my daughter wanted another ear piercing for her 17th birthday.
My favorites about the place were the roomy accommodations (queen bed, sitting room and bathroom), beautiful grounds(flowers galore, huge yard, trees, swimming pool, equipped work out room and hot tub)porch swing for star gazing at night and the solitary seat at the koi pond for taking a few moments to realize how lucky and blessed I am.
I travel to New York City at least twice a year and always like to take a few days outside the city-having found Fox Hill B&B-I now have my to go place in the country.

We stayed last summer. The room was very clean and my wife is very particular.
Inexpensive for a nice sized room, good breakfast, and very nice pool/hot tub. The owner/ innkeeper cares.
