Big Cave Camp reposes atop an enormous granite whaleback commanding inspirational views across the famous Matobo National Park. Big Cave Camp has a four star lodge with restaurant, as well as a well equipped camp site with adjacent Ndebele village. Sophisticated African architecture incorporates colossal boulders into a luxuriously appointed thatched lodge positioned amidst ancient Khoisan rock art.Retire at a day's end to the natural rock-pool and sundeck, the Leopard`s Lair lounge and bar, a cave-style boma for pre-dinner drinks or the popular lodge library. The seven thatched A-frame lodges, each with en-suite bathroom and private balcony, resonate African creative flair.Find solitude within an intimate retreat as secluded as the original Kalanga grain bins that nestle amongst the rocks.

Big cave camp was our first camp experience in Africa, and we were delighted by the sight of it! The buildings are built into the surrounding rocks, and we discovered that one of the walls in the main dining room/bar Was a rock face. We were greeted with a lovely fruit drink by the friendly staff. We had a wonderful restful time there. The food was very good. The local guide was lovely and our first drive a great experience, finishing off with a sundowner which consists of drinking a glass of wine or a gin and tonic whilst watching the sunset ! Perfect! We also saw our first of the big five here, rhinoceros. Almost too close and personal!! Fabulous!

Hi Maria, thank you so much for your kind words. I must say we are immensely proud of our orphan program, and are thrilled that you have opted to be a part of it. Thank you so much! This year we have reached our highest number of children sponsored by guests ever, over 30 which is incredible. It is people like you that make the difference in Zimbabwe, and also shows what can be done through tourism . So a huge thank you from us, and we so hope you return to see the progress at the school. Best Regards Dave Waddy

Very nice stay, great location. Dinner with the management and other guests are very pleasant moments. The rooms are great and the swimming pool is unique. We also enjoyed the walks and the rhino tracking together with scouts.

What a beautiful place. Right on the rocks is this amazingly constructed lodge. On the other side of the rock is the campsite. You’re welcome to use the lodges facilities and they even have a WiFi. At the campsite you’ll find the friendliest staff making sure you have a warm shower and a pleasant stay! Also the walk with a guide is highly recommend and gives you a very good insight in the surroundings.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Big Cave lodges and rented 2 lodges for our family. The situation is really gorgeous, with the well-spaced stone-built lodges sitting on top of a huge granite 'dwala'. The views are amazing. We had very friendly service from Lynn, and Shepherd took us on a wonderful trip to see the cave paintings at Nswatugi, Maleme Dam and we had a fabulous sunset drink at Rhodes' Grave. The food was unsophisticated but very good. We particularly enjoyed sitting around the fire after dinner chatting to the staff and our fellow guests. Highly recommended, and we would love to return.
