Bumi Hills Safari Lodge and Spa boasts one of Africa’s finest wilderness locations with an elevated position on a range of remote hills overlooking the vastness of Lake Kariba. Bumi is situated near the North Eastern border of the Matusdona National Park and is easily accessible by light aircraft and boat, allowing you to be swiftly transported into paradise without the stress of a long journey. The safari lodge has a total of 10 rooms, all with views over Lake Kariba. All rooms are premium rooms with balconies and uninhibited views over Lake Kariba. There are garden rooms available too, reserved for guides and tour leaders, with slated terraces, set a little way back behind and on a level above the premium rooms. Taking centre stage is the beautiful infinity pool that seems to blend endlessly into the lake horizon. The pool is surrounded by intimate wine and dining terraces on different levels. The lodge interiors have been beautifully finished in a fusion of contemporary western and African styles. Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is situated on an extensive wildlife conservation area. Bumi Hills is home to lion, leopard, big herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as a multitude of different plains game. Guests can indulge in superb fishing in the lake waters surrounding the safari lodge with bream and the fighting tiger fish in abundance. Birding and cultural experiences (with the rich local Tonga culture) also abound. Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is a dream wedding destination – an incredible setting for a small, intimate event (maximum of 46 pax) whilst enjoying special time with family and friends surrounded by Lake Kariba and a myriad of wildlife!

This is a really delightful quality lodge perched on a beautiful hill overlooking the Lake Kariba to the north. The airstrip is a short drive away. The air-conditioned rooms are spotless and great. The staff are really brilliant -- attentive and friendly. There is a lovely infinity pool from which you can watch the elephants and hippos down below. There is even a snooker room. This is more of a luxury retreat than an out-and-out safari lodge. You can pretty much mingle with the large herds of different animals on the plains below the hotel and you can go for extensive walks with the guides. I can heartily recommend this place.

This is a really beautiful place, good place to rest after a 12 days in the bush. The air conditioning was most welcome. The vista over Lake Kariba is stunning , rooms large you can sit in bed & see the Lake. Everything you need stocked fridge , large shower, gowns & slippers, charging points, hair dryer, safe to mention a few . It’s very quiet when I was there so looked after like royalty, but I’m sure you always are. Nothing too much trouble,I don’t eat meat, & there was plenty of variety to choose from. Sunset cruise beautiful, game drives gentle but fantastic to watch the animals come to drink at the lake & observe their games & habits. I had a wonderful time but think it is a place for couples & families more than solos. However would return in the quieter times. Oh a shout out to the staff they were superb caring & friendly

This was the end of my mana pools safari. The air conditioning, spa and pool were much appreciated. It was so much more than that though. Every staff member was so friendly and helpful. Just walking through the lodge, there were so many smiles and hello’s. I was the only one at the lodge for a couple days, and I felt like I had my own villa with staff . 😀. The sunset cruise on Lake Kariba is beautiful. One day we drove down to watch the elephants, drinking and playing in the water . Sasha and the team planned a special lunch for me one day on the banks of the lake as a surprise. We also had a special sundowner at the top of a hill that I had expressed interest about . The staff does go the extra mile and they are great here. The rooms are large, and sit on the hill with a lovely view of the lake. Wifi in public areas only

Our stay at Bumi Hills was designed as a relaxing stay between safaris in Hwange National Park and Mana Pools, but it turned out to be more than that (on top of being a good place to chill out / relax!). Lovely location overlooking Lake Kariba, great place to relax by the pool, spa, good food, high quality of service as in other African Bush Camps etc. Nice to go boating on the lake - we definitely enjoyed the fishing session. The lovely surprise was the safari drives - small reserve but packed with wildlife and in a lovely setting. The highlight was a few hours spent closely following 3 lions one afternoon/evening: magical experience! Also nice to be able to do walking safaris. Overall a “softer form of safari” but still great safaris and a lot of variety. A great combination with the larger National Parks.

This is one of the best safari camps you can ever go to! I say one of as I have been to 3 different African Bush Camps and couldn't fault a single one. Bumi has a special kind of charm being on Lake Kariba, you'll get breathtaking views of the dam from pretty much anywhere in the camp. My favourite was from the pool, the pool alone is magnificent beyond words and is the perfect remedy for the hot days in Kariba. The staff, the staff are the sort of people who love their work so much and treat you like family. The hospitality of the staff from the waiters, chefs, cleaners and guides is unlike anything I've ever seen. Everyone is so kind, they instantly make you feel at home which makes it SO hard to leave! Seeing all the amazing animals feels like a bonus on top of how amazing the camps are. The attention to detail is unmatched, I noticed this was something a lot of people comment on - it truly is amazing and specially catered to each guest. For instance, our guide knew how much I loved the snacks we had earlier that day that he packed them on our evening game drive! It's those little things in amongst the spectacular camps themselves which leave you with that warm fuzzy feeling! I always learn so much from the guides at ABC too, at Bumi we were so lucky to see the "Bumi Boys" being the local lions so many times as the guides were so knowledgeable of their movements, and how to approach them. We always felt so safe and got to see so many animals, it was amazing! I couldn't recommend Bumi enough or any of ABC's camps to be honest, they are a home away from home and the type of luxury you can hardly fathom being so deep in the bush! Thank you again to the amazing team, I'll be dreaming of Bumi for years to come!

My mom and I stayed at Bumi for three days and were treated like royalty. Harris, our guide, was just incredible and so much fun. We loved hearing about him and Lake Kariba. As my mom mentioned in her review, Harris and Captain Chindega took us fishing and then we got to eat our catch! Chindega took us on a couple of cruises and the scenery is exquisite. Sheckie the host checked on us throughout every day to make sure we didn't need anything. Lemon, our waiter, was the sweetest and kindest soul. He did everything and more. Harris took us to the local village (where Lemon grew up). We stopped and saw some sweet kids at the school and shopped in the little shops. Everyone was very welcoming. The grounds are beautiful and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Marcy wasn't our wait person, but she went out of her way to say hello and was very sweet. Sheckie, Lemon and Harris surprised us with sundowners on Lake Kariba's shore and it was just gorgeous. We loved everyone we met there and miss you all!

My daughter and I spent 3 days at Bumi Hills. Our guide, Harris, was sweet, thoughtful and excellent guide. We did safaris, fishing and exploring. My daughter and I both caught fish. The chef prepared them for dinner. It was delicious! Our experience here was unforgettable!

Every single thing at Bumi Hills was just perfect. The place is incredible; exceptional accommodation, with so many extra details. The location is just magical, and we loved the activities. Everyone was just 100% committed and they were all full of surprises. I wouldn’t say coz I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprises for others who may want to visit also 😅... Special mentions go to: Sasha our personal hostess Nyasha - beauty therapist from the Spa Lawrence - Personal waiter Sunshine - Personal Chef Tongai - Personal House keeper Little Max our Personal tour guide. He was just on fire🔥🔥🔥 Oh Yes, we had personal staff allocated specifically for us making sure our stay was very comfortable, enjoyable and memorable. They all made it special. Keep up the good works guys
