Where to begin, firstly I want to extend my gratitude to Sue and her amazing staff, Daphne,Enoch,Leeroy, Naomi, and Dumi our wonderful extraordinare guide. I cannot say everything I want to about the Hideaways because there are not enough words to express my feelings! The elevated tent rooms were what I had seen in travel magazines, absolutely elegant with every comfort you could ever want or wish for, OH, one added item were the “bush babies “ in our beds ( steaming hot water bottles) it was heaven ! The game drives Dumi took us on we’re terrific, we saw a multitude of animals including the “big 5” , our breakfast buffet while out on a drive was over the top, the chef was out there in the bush preparing everything to order, amazing. Sue went out of her way to help us with any unexpected needs. The meals and unlimited bar service were above and beyond any place we stayed. A sunset “ surprise” ride to the bush was a treehouse overnight experience under the stars, alone with nature and the galaxy. Sunset was a time of relaxing on the patio watching the elephants parade one by one to-the swimming pool indulging in the salt water. On the last morning ,after breakfast, Enoch, the chef prepared a “to go” box lunch for our departure . We left with tears in our eyes and a heartful of unforgettable memories. 🥰 🐘🐘🐘…
I don't even know where to start. AMAZING! the accommodations were impeccable. Service was spot on. Not to mention the undesirable game drives, by JC. I can't believe all the elephants that return nightly to drink out of the pool. I felt bad for Chef, prepared our meal, presented it, and we all abandoned the table to watch the +25 elephants drink water. Oh and taking a shower OUTSIDE overlooking a water hole (only saw some baboons, impala and zebra), but knowing they are RIGHT there. did I mention the surprise hot water bottle in the bed, at turndown...such a pleasant burst of heat under the covers, in mid-May. Thank you for helping to make our trip so memorable.
Stayed at 3 lodges during my recent trip to Africa. This was by far the nicest setting from accommodations to food, staff, and Safari outings. Loved the chilly nights with cast iron fireplace and warm water bottle in my bed… nice touch!
Great place and great staff ! 😍 even though April is not a good time of the year to spot animals, the guide managed to find a lot of great animal sightings ! Elephants coming into the lodge at night to drink of the pool we will never forget ! So low temperature and rain couldn’t ruin our stay at all !
It was me and my friend travelling around zimbabwe. Normally guides that see girls alone get a bit too friendly which is completely annoying BUT DUMI WAS SO RESPECTFUL, nice and patient with us, it was so refreshing. We felt safe and comfortable the whole trip. He went the extra mile every single time. Shantal was always helping us, no matter the situation or problems we had. Amazing lodge manager. We also had some visitors at night, a whole Ger of elephants came to drink from the pool 🐘🐘🐘♥️♥️♥️
WOW ..... We had the most wonderful stay at Elephant Eyes Hwange. We were totally blown away by the staff, They were the most professional and courteous and kind individuals. They truly gave us a special and memorable stay. And we will not hesitate to recommend Elephant Eyes to any family and friends and we are hoping to return again soon. The facilities are amazing and so well looked after and presented, first class accommodation in a beautiful setting. The Views are breathtaking and beautiful. Surroudings are peaceful where you can immerse yourself into the sounds of nature and the african bush, something we had never experienced until we stayed at your camp. A truly memorable experience. Thank you for giving us a wonderful holiday full of memories.
My stay at Elephants eye was nothing less than spectacular, the manager was brilliant and the staff were helpful and polite. I could not believe how delicious the food was from the chef Enoch. I cannot wait to come back and share this experience with my family once again!! The game viewing was amazing as we saw all many different species.
The lodge is made up of individual tented suites overlooking a central pan where animals come to drink and birdlife abounds. They are beautifully furnished with an Ardmore fabric theme. I loved the bath and outdoor shower - both with a view. We were there in summer but each room also had a fireplace for winter. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. Enoch, the chef, proudly told us how he made each element from scratch. I appreciated that (besides a dessert at each sitting!) the food was healthy and balanced with veg. We really enjoyed the game drives and even in the area outside the main Hwange park we were spoilt with rich game sightings of lion, buffalo, elephant etc. I loved the varying flora and found the Teak forest to be completely magical. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. One of the highlights of our stay were eating on the patio of the main area and watching a huge bull elephant come silently to drink out of the pool. A very special experience to be so close. This lodge is great for couples or groups, friends or family. We definitely plan on returning!…
This place is truly wonderful. The rooms are so nice and the service fantastic! We had excellent food and enjoyed all the activities organised. The only thing I found a little bit disappointing was the pool. Though we really did not have time to go for a swim it could be improved making it more welcoming.
This was my second visit to Elephant's Eye but certainly won't be my last. This was just a short one night stay which is not nearly enough, although even in that short time we saw a big lion on the way back from sundowners, what a treat! After that excitement, we went back to the lodge for a delicious dinner, g&ts and a very welcome fire, nothing was too much effort for the lovely staff
