Bumbusi Wilderness Camp consists of 5 chalets nestled in an oasis of mature trees and shade which, bolstered by the waterhole and natural pool, makes for a wildlife magnet, especially in the dry season. The stone and thatch chalets all look out onto the lawns and water and compliment the incredible geology of this reclaimed wilderness.

Having been to Hwange NP many times this was our first visit to this area and to Bumbusi. Terry and Taryn made us really welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them or their small staff. The rooms are of sandstone construction and are or a decent size. The bathroom is semi-open at the rear with shower, toilet, wash basin, ample towels and amenities. Hot water provided from a donkey boiler which was always hot and plentiful. We had a double bed in the room with mosquito netting. There is ample shelving and hanging space. There is a ceiling fan for hotter weather. There is Wifi at the lounge/dining area. Like other camps there is a quick continental breakfast at around 0630 before heading out into the park. Lunch or Brunch at around 1100-1200, afternoon tea at 1500 and dinner on return around 1900. We also had the experience of a 'bush dinner' which was a very nice change. Talent (the Chef) provided very nice meals on all of our 4 nights there. This area of the park is quite undulating with rivers and a gorge and open plain areas. Good for observing birds and animals. We saw 114 species of birds there. Our guide, Jamie, was excellent. Full of knowledge and passionate about the bush and liked a laugh and a joke. He served us well. Access to the camp can be via road from Victoria Falls (around 4 hours) of by air charter into Robin's Airstrip and a 2 hour drive. All in all an excellent stay. Highly recommended.

Bumbusi Wilderness Camp!

Raw unfiltered African Beauty and a side to Hwange I have never seen before! LOVED this special place with its rugged classic safari feel. With beautiful rooms placed strategically amidst a grandeur of flourishing giant mahoganys and jackelberry trees!

Elephant frequently pass through camp in a quiet calm manner and it feels like they have a story to tell you.... if you will listen.

Perched on the ridge I loved to watch the sunrise behind an iconic Baobab tree. Set the tone for the days ahead.

We immersed ourselves into days filled with walking safaris with some of the best guides I have come across in all my working days in Southern Africa! They filtered this passion and knowledge into their game drives to which in this unique habitat uncovered so many treasures from small to big. A HIGHLIGHT was having dinner under the stars and a serval joined us to see what the occasion was!

The Bumbusi team hosted us with such class back at camp and left us longing for nothing! My favourite part of the day was gathering at Dawn with a coffee hot off the fire, in the spirit of the true pioneering days they have a kettle on the go constantly!

Of course I loved the bath with a View, giving Authentic panoramic views out into the Bush. The rooms so stylish yet down to earth with its Bush feel and luxurious earthy tones!

However the biggest Rave I have about this beautiful place was howFamily friendly the whole trip was. Arya (4 months old) was welcomed as part of the Bumbusi family and we were all warmly greeted by name and everyone was constantly asking how she was, or how the game drive went or did I need any help. The staff oozed helpfulness in a subtle non invasive manner and I so appreciated all their assistance!

Relaxing in this therapeutic atmosphere I forgot all the stresses of life out there and divulged into the pure enjoyment of soaking up the feel of pioneering Safari days filled with adventure and exploration. 5 days was not enough.

I truly appreciated the way they have been able to honour and preserve some of the rich history Bumbusi has to share. This is a unique addition to what Hwange has to offer!

The camp is small and intimate, delicious food, friendly staff, very knowledgeable guide and good wildlife sightings.
I was liked the fact that it's location has great historical monuments.
I hope to return there some day soon to Hideaways Bumbusi Wilderness Camp.

What an amazing find. Not only were we spoiled with fantastic good from the chef Talent, but the walks by Blessed and Blessing was unbelievable. Tracking Rhino is so exciting, but do not forget the amazing riverside walks, that bring you so close to Hippo and crocs. Then there is the History of the Namby? people when visiting their ruins. The last evening we were surprised by the most amazing bush dinner close to thousands year old rock etchings.
I loved every minute!!!

What a pleasant, blissful hidden gem is Bumbusi. Run by a small team who make you feel like part of the family. Terry & Taryn are so welcoming, making sure you are well looked after, without ever being intrusive. Talent is an amazing chef, cooking delicious meals. We were even treated to a special bush dinner one evening. Jaimie is an awesome guide, so knowledgeable & absolutely passionate about the bush. I absolutely LOVED our time here & would love to come back again soon.

What an exceptional camp. Simply laid out with carefully considered touches. A stunning setting. Delicious food by aptly named chef Talent. Generous housing by Terry and Taryn. And simply the most wonderful guide in Blessed and his protégé Jamie. So knowledgeable, thoughtful, funny. Our kids were engaged at all times and the history of the area is fascinating.

This is really an amazing place and there is so much to do! The game drives was good and we saw a lot of wildlife, but I will definitely recommend to also do one of the game walks. I did the gorge walk and it was stunning and such an amazing experience, both guides Blessed and Blessing have a lot of knowledge on wildlife and so much experience. They explained everything well and I learned a lot from them. It was also very interesting to learn about the Bumbusi Ruins and to see it along with the etchings on the rock.

To the team at the lodge thank you for your excellent service and friendliness and making me feel welcome. And also thank you for the most delicious food, it really was so good, the bush dinner was definitely one of the highlights! I will definitely go back for another memorable experience!
