Robins Camp, now under private new management, offers an exciting revival of the iconic safari destination in Hwange National Park,in an area rich in natural water. It is a perfect area for game spotting,or just relaxing in the wild African bush. We have chalet accommodation available, or for the more adventurous, camping sites. Chalets are tastefully decorated in and out with hand painted Matabele designs. Each room has en-suite with hot and cold water and high pressure showers, an overhead fan for hotter days and a full mosquito net to protect you from insects. The rooms may all be configured as twin or king units. Rooms are tastefully decorated by our local designer using recycled and local items and fabrics.

Detailed Reviews
Located in beautiful Hwange National Park we were delighted with the rooms which were comfortable with solar power and fans. Great shower and bathroom amenities. , there is a large open dining room and outside area so that you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets and sky and animals that come to the waterhole in front of the camp. Staff were attentive and always available when required, and food outstanding and the kitchens were able to cater for individual dietery need etc. Front office and service staff absolutely 100% on their game. It was a great stay

Robins Camp is the oldest in Hwange and with new concession owners has been completely restored and refurbished. It sits right in the bush and is very spacious with excellent facilities. Lovely pool to relax in the heat of the day between game drives, bar, common room and a huge attractive dining room lapa.style. Food was excellent. Really friendly and helpful staff. Accommodation is all in cottages - well equipped and very comfortable.
They provide game drives but we drove ourselves morning and evening - game viewing was very rewarding and the bush beautiful.
The new owners really do deserve to succeed so if you go to Zim please visit Robins.
And it it only takes 2 hours to drive to Victoria Falls - combine to two for a wonderful trip.

+1
About a 2 hours drive from Victoria Falls, Robins Camp is the best value for money in Hwange National Park. There’s a lot of history to this place, yet it remains exceptionaly modern and well-furnished with 36 luxurious bungalows/chalets and 25 camp sites. The Camp has a relaxed atmosphere with beautiful trees and gardens, a huge swimming pool to relax in the heat of the day, and a very cool “hyena bar”, all overlooking an open plain where warthog, kudu and impalas are often spotted.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. Food & drinks can be ordered at any time of the day and are a treat every time. There is a tea & coffee station that can also be used at all times.
For those needing a good WiFi connection (not always easy to find in the bush) - this is the place!
All in all, Robins is a little oasis in the Park, close to the Falls, great for families and awesome for an African Bush Experience.

Stay away! Booked here via Jenman safaris. Originally booked for sable sands or elephant eye. Ended up in this dump. It is outdated. Its dirty and filthy. Staff pathetic. Offer gamewalks that in the end are not available due to lack of ranger (website states inhouse guides for walks and drives) was offered a gamedrive voor $65 instead. Just before leaving guide informed me that drive was only going to waterhole and sit there until game would arrive. On terrain waterhole is within electric fence so no game can approach. Next day a fukl day gamedrive was promised. Oy to hear it had been changesmd into 2 separate shorter drives. Wasted afternoon in Hwange np. Also blaiming Jenman safaris on this total wasted stay at Hwange. Shame!

Hello Dino v. I understand that you were not happy with your overall experience at Robins Camp. I am sorry to hear that. Regarding your activities. The safari or game drives offered at Robins Camp are Morning Game Drives and Afternoon Game Drives. The Big Toms and Little Toms waterholes are very productive for animal sightings and your game drive included the waterhole but was not limited to just the waterhole. The optional walking safari is operated by Zimbabwe National Park and are subject to availability of a walking ranger. We cannot guarantee this service. We would love to have you stay with us again. We invite you to come stay at Robins Camp again on a 2 night complimentary stay. We will include 2 nights accommodation, three meals a day and will also include 2 game drives during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back to Robins Camp. Please contact via our reservations email.

We enjoyed our stay at Robin's Camp tremendously - it is more affordable than most of the private camps in Hwange and it is definitely value-for-money. It is good to see how the camp has been renovated as a result of the partnership between Machaba and the Zim National Parks. In the past, we have gone to stay more towards the South East of Hwange so it was a change of scenery for us this year as we got to see the North West part of the Park with the Deka River and Mopane forests. It is such a great place for young families as there is an open grass area, swimming pool and it is fenced in so you can relax and enjoy. All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Our Guide was excellent and we saw a lot of game despite it still being quite green (like lion, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, impala, roan antelope, hyaena and elephant to name some).

Excellent experience - the hotel and rooms were nice, the staff was amazing and friendly and the location and game drives were wonderful. At the camp, the food was excellent, and you could view game from the chairs on the lawn. Between the stargazing, night fires and plethora of birds on the property, you didn’t need to leave the camp to have a great experience with nature. That being said, the game drives were great - lots of wildlife in the location. Compared to other camps in the area, it’s a slightly larger camp (and slightly cheaper) but we would go back in a heartbeat!

I am writing to express our heartfelt appreciation of the staff at the camp, all of whom were exceptionally welcoming, kind and helpful at all times.
In particular, they sought us out when we had got stuck on a muddy track, and rescued us! Thereafter our vehicle was thoroughly cleaned inside and out, and even our shoes washed!
(We erred by not picking up a walkie-talkie radio when going out on our game drive! Obviously this is an excellent, and seriously important feature to advertize in the 'visitors' instructions.)
They also provided a special cake for my wife on her birthday yesterday! We also had spectacular treats of a breakfast at the wonderful New Deka Camp, and sunset at the Salt pan! All this remains very special in our memories.
Furthermore, the meals were plentiful and delicious.
We only regretted that we could not stay longer!
May I make one or two suggestions?
(1) The map provided could be improved (it is hand-drawn) and not entirely complete nor accurate.
(2) The locks be repaired on the two public ladies' toilets.
(3) That bird residue be cleaned from the tower, which is otherwise a spectacular resource.
(4) A campaign be mounted for National Parks to re-paint and/or repair direction signs on the roads. Often these are simply missing or illegible, and sometimes quite incorrect, which
resulted in our driving in the wrong direction on a little used (but well graded) road!
(5) To provide a shop where paintings, crafts, clothes etc made by indigenous artists and experts could be sold for their benefit and that of the many international visitors who would love to purchase mementoes of Zimbabwe and Africa, especially if they come (as most do) directly from Victoria Falls.

We stayed at the campsites within Robins during the first night of our 7-day self-drive through Hwange. The campsites had their own braai and there was ample and clean ablutions, showers and an area to wash dishes. There is also a restaurant, bar and pool onsite as well as a viewing platform.

Robins is an ex ZimParks camp with an iconic history. The accommodations and facilities are excellent and the staff very attentive and accommodating. The food is varied and freshly prepared with a chef anxious to cater to all needs. It is in a great location for self drive or accompanied game drives with great populations of the game we came to see. The place is excellent value for money.

We had such a lovely time at Robins Camp and really enjoyed our meals there. The food was diverse and really tasty. I would suggest however that biscuits or scones were available for early risers to have with their tea or coffee, and for those hanging around the pool to have with drinks or tea in the afternoons. A kettle
with a tea and coffee station in our room would have been much appreciated.
Beds were comfy, the solar geysers much appreciated, and your staff helpful.
We were fascinated watching the bats flying from the top of the tower early evenings and would love to know more about them. We couldn't believe how many there were, and how much noise they made.
We were excited to see black backed and side striped jackals, Cory Bustard, dung beetles, and ground hornbills, We saw a small herd of Roan on our way home which we were all thrilled to see. Sad not to see elephants or lions, but with all the rains we honestly weren't surprised. Lots of zebra and impala, a few Kudu and waterbuck. A lovely family of giraffe. Definitely a bird watchers paradise in April.
We were super excited to see a hippo and her baby at Detema Dam.
Thanks again to Carina for handling our bookings and concerns, and to the staff for making our stay memorable.

Western Australia, Australia80 contributions49 helpful votesI have heard of much unrest and uncertainty in Zimbabwe in the last few weeks. Is it safe to travel to Zimbabwe and how safe are these safari lodges?
HI Perfectly safe I live in Vic Falls. The unrest was in the townships in the major cities far away from Hwange and Vic Falls. all calm now.
Hi Gavin
There is a small waterhole which can be seen from the pool/dining area.
