We had a beautiful cliff view from our suite with a balcony. Great view of the stars and wildlife! Staff was very accommodating. We were worried about Covid during our stay, but it was not too crowded and everyone was very respectful of personal space and wearing masks in public areas. The staff did not offer room service but we were able to leave our trash in the hall and it was cleaned up quickly every day. They also stopped the breakfast buffet like most hotels are doing now, but they still offered yogurt, granola, fruit, coffee and juice every morning. Everywhere we went in the New Paltz area was beautiful (only 10 min drive from the lodge)! The wildflowers were gorgeous and the community was very health conscious- lots of outdoor activities like hiking, biking, kayaking, and even outdoor yoga! Highly recommend!

My 12 year old son and I came here in January. It is a warm and inviting place. Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and muffins tempt you upon arrival. The staff is moderately friendly. The room felt warm and comfortable, a welcome change from freezing outside temperatures. It was mostly quiet during our stay except for a few muffled sounds of children not realizing their voices can carry from other rooms or from the outer hallways. I noticed quite a few families were staying at the same time as us. There is no restaurant and no food for purchase other than some jars of local jam, honey, and granola bars. There is a tavern nearby, which is probably off limits for the kids in our families, and a deli which primarily had quick conveniences of chips and pop. We had to drive into the local town of Gardiner to get burgers, it is about 10 or 15 minutes away. We went to a very busy pizza place and on a Sunday, it was the only place open. It took a very long time (45 minutes) just to get a cheeseburger. The rooms did not have coffee makers and coffee. When you are ready for your first cup of Joe, you will need to get dressed and go to the big fireplace room where coffee is in large dispensers. They do serve a very nice breakfast around 7:30am. In summary, it is a pleasant place to stay, but a little challenging where to find real food beside breakfast.

We stayed overnight arriving from Corning with the intention of hiking at Minnewaska in the morning. The Lodge is in a great location so we were able to ge to Minnewaska before the crowds arrived.
The rooms were large and comfortable, although they could probably use a bit of updating, particulary the bathroom. I think a shower would be a nice upgrade rather than a tub with shower. The staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful from the moment we arrived until the time we checked out.
The firepits in the back garden were an added plus as was the dining room. The breakfast was perfect - muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, bagels, granola, coffee and juice.
The view from the back deck and our room was beautiful. I look forward to coming back to stay here again in the future.

Would not recommend it to a friend. We booked the lodge for our wedding weekend and invited all of our guests to do the same. We could not reserve a room block since it was July 4th weekend. We chose this location over a year ago when it was under different ownership, it was sold December 2021, after all of our guests had already booked their rooms. The location is beautiful, but the hotel itself leaves much to be desired for the price. We booked the suite for $450 a night and were less than impressed with the accommodations. This room has no balcony as it is downstairs on the ground floor, just a concrete patio out the back. I wish we had booked one of the rooms upstairs with a balcony and a view, the suite was not worth it. When we arrived, the suite had a dehumidifier running which filled up within the first day of our stay, which I found concerning. Nobody from the hotel came to empty it or provide any other housekeeping while we were there. We were also very disappointed with the staff and their treatment of our guests. It seemed everyone paid VERY different prices for their rooms, some spending suite prices for rooms with dirty cups and active construction happening. If rooms were $150 a night the hotel amenities and service would be acceptable. The price we, and our guests, paid was not worthy of the treatment and amenities we received. The location is great, this could be a wonderful hotel, but under this ownership we will not be back and will not be recommending this to anyone else.

Can't beat the location as it near many hiking trails and the town of New Paltz which provides many dining options. The grab and go breakfast has a lot to be desired. The staff was very accommodating. Make sure you request a blow dryer for the room before you decide to take a shower. They are not standard in the rooms.

Wonderful weekend getaway with my husband. Great location- near everything but still off the beaten path. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Eric was especially knowledgeable on hiking/climbing in the area (if that’s what you’re up there to do). Entire lodge was very clean, perfect breakfast to get you fueled for outdoor activities and all-day coffee and tea is always a bonus. I didn’t get around to the yoga in the morning but will be sure to next time. Sweet little walking paths in the back. Tiny little complaint is the walls are thin- if you want to sleep in bring your earplugs or white noise machine. Bed was very comfy and curtains and blinds blocked the light out very well. We are already planning our trip back.

My wife and I have been visiting Minnewaska Lodge many times. We are driving up from NYC, which is a very pleasant drive just under an hour and a half and we visit at least once a month. I cannot recommend the Lodge high enough. It must be one of the most peaceful, friendly and welcoming places to stay at, all in a simply stunning nature setting with a variety of trails in the “backyard” that range from easy stroll to challenging rock scrambling. The Red trail has now been expanded by Erik (who is just amazing, knows literally every single trail in the area, offers some serious guided climbing, nightly Yoga and much more) and leads you all the way up to the Cliff from where you can continue. If that’s not enough, the Minnewaska State Park Preserve main entrance is 5 minutes away. We stayed at several rooms at the lodge and all of them are very spacious, always spotless clean and many have balconies. The Lodge provides delicious breakfast that you can enjoy sitting on the deck with incredible Cliffside views and many of the fruits, muffins etc. are from the farms in the area. The nightly fire pits are just the perfect way to end the day and you will almost always see dear, groundhogs, and other wildlife.
Thank you Erik, Roxie and Jamie and the entire team at Minnewaska Lodge who go above and beyond. My wife and I are very thankful to have found you and made it our favorite place to stay. Thank you for all you do and we cannot wait to coming back!

We spent 3 nights at the lodge. Upon arrival there was a snafu with our room choice and Eric was very accommodating in fixing the situation. The other front desk staff were helpful and friendly in answering our questions about local trails and restaurants. The lodge is in a beautiful location that makes you feel like you're in a rural setting yet there are many things to do just a short drive away. Walkable from the lodge is a deli with good breakfast options and a German restaurant that was delicious.

We loved our two-night stay at Minnewaska Lodge. We chose it because it was halfway between our destinations of Hyde Park and Storm King. From the moment we were warmly greeted at the reception desk, we felt at home. It’s not a luxurious place, but it’s very comfortable, relaxing and beautifully set with the backdrop of the Shawangunk Mountain. The common areas feature many tables, chairs and benches in the dining area, Adirondack chairs scattered on the deck and below on the grass, and 2 fire pits lit nightly. The breakfast and snacks were simple but all high quality and healthful - delicious coffees, herbal teas, muffins and bagels rivaling NYC’s, small packages of cheese, yoghurt, etc. Everything was individually wrapped for Covid.

Our rooms were very comfortable. The hair and body wash products, bath and bed linens were all excellent quality. Everyone we met was very pleasant.

We didn’t have to drive to Poughkeepsie or Rhinebeck to have good dinners. Instead we drove 10 minutes to Garvans, then Main Course Marketplace, both in New Paltz, and were very pleased with our meals.

At the risk of it being booked the next time we want to stay there, we highly recommend Minnewaska Lodge.

The location is convenient for trips into town and college. Breakfast provided is adequate with various breads, fruits and cereal. Rooms are stark but with good views of cliffs and woods adjacent to some hiking trails. Cost for 2 days was $704.00 which included a $30/day resort fee. Rooms are only cleaned ( bed changed, new towels ) if you stay there only 3 days or more. Thus not sure about what resort fee covers as this was not told at in check in. Must park car down the hill from the Lodge. Parking next to lodge is reserved for staff. Again a good location but overly priced.

Now that covid reopening continues to progress, is there an update on the complimentary breakfast?
Answer from General Manager
We were not serving breakfast for the first couple months of the COVID-reopening, and we had to suspend our breakfast-style buffet. We are now offering complementary breakfast options in a "grab-and-go" style where the guest chooses from a few options and we have it prepared for pick-up in the morning. Our current breakfast options include a few types of gourmet bagels or a yogurt and granola option (with several types of yogurts and granola's). For both bagels and yogurt/granola, we have gluten free and vegan options. And, of course, we have complementary coffee, tea, juices, and local, seasonal fruits from a farm 3 miles away! Cheers!
