This venue is fantastic!! Everybody is out to spoil you. The game drives - Excellent, with the snacks WOW! The hostess for the weekend, Ms van Niekerk, is such a lovely person and treated us as royalty!! I will vote for her for anything!!
Few days after we checked out - my girlfriend realised that some stuff was missing from her suitcase so I called in and I was told these were found and would be posted to us. I don't know how these were misplaced in the first place. These were sentimental items that had been designed and knitted by her mother and have no replacement value. It is disappointing that after so many months - we haven't heard from the lodge. We usually use lock pads but having paid such a fortune to treat ourselves to this venue - we certainly did not see this one coming.
I treated my boyfriend to a weekend away for his birthday. This is honestly one of the nicest lodges we have stayed at, we travel quite a bit so have a good frame of reference. The rooms are awesome and the shower amazing. I would have liked a fridge in the room but that is just personal preference. When we arrived there were refreshments waiting for us. Nicolene remembered it was my boyfriend's birthday which was so sweet. We went on a game drive both evenings we were there. Nicolene is very knowledgeable about the game as well as the topography. The meals were all home cooked and absolutely delicious. On the last evening we had a braai. The meat and homemade bread was out of this world. I think I actually put on 5kg's over the 3 days I was there the food was that good. Even though they don't serve lunch we had leftovers from our dinner which they warmed up for us the next day. Every morning there is coffee and rusks left in a basket outside your door which is such a treat. I highly recommend this lodge to anyone looking for a home away from home experience where you are spoilt beyond belief. All the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Oh and Flekkie is just the cutest little Jack Russell I have ever met. We will definitely be back…
Really in the bush experience, so quiet and peaceful. Easy walks with lots of game and birds with "game guide" Flekkie the resident Jack Russell. Pleasant staff with low key service and excellent food. Late afternoon game drive with spectacular sunset over Springbok Flats. Only put off is stone "waterfall" shower which runs out of hot water in less than 2 minutes
We spend a 2 night stay at this lodge. It's a new place with 7 small cottages, 1 family cottage the others for couples. The lodges are simple with a bed and bathroom with a very unusual shower, nice fresh clean towels and toiletries the room is comfortable, does have air con but no fridges or coffee/tea facilities - but the main lodge are this available all day and the cottages are all around the main lodge. They are busy building a golf course which skirts around the lodge and will be a great asset for visitors, you can practice on one of the greens in front of the lodge. The breakfast & dinner were served in the main lodge with all the guest sitting around the same large table which was a nice idea as people get to know each other. One night we had a braai (barbeque) sitting outside around a huge fire pit. The food is good and plentiful all home cooked - they do fresh bread and rolls so light and delicious. The lodge do game drives each day, we did an evening one the first night - the game is mostly varieties of buck with loads of birds etc, they have a huge water buffalo camp with breeding buffalo. The game drive ends on top of the hill at you sit watching the sunset - stunning. In the morning they also do a game drive and again you watch the sunrise. The lodge is also building a lovely self catering lodge away from the main lodge area which sits on the hill and commands stunning views. It's not too far a drive from Johannesburg on good roads. When you turn onto the farm there is a hectic dirt road so not great with very low cars, but once at the lodge well worth the drive. Ansie was our guide on the game drives and was fantastic great personality and funny. Isobel was in charge of the lodge and her food was great. Definitely recommend it as a nice relaxing stay for a few days. There is an honesty bar as well as tea/coffee etc available all day. They do not do lunches but when we arrived they did do some snacks for us which was greatly appreciated. There is a small pool and a lovely patio area at the lodge It's a nice small and very friendly lodge which you can go on walks along marked paths. Nice place to chill.…
