Detailed Reviews
We recently spent a few days with friends and had the most wonderful waitress. Her name was Brooke and she would so kind and attentive to our requests. She was such a lovely girl and we enjoyed our time with her. I only wish that everywhere we dined had an employee as wonderful as Brooke ! If we do return to The Country Place, it will be because of Brooke !

My family stayed at The Country Place Resort from a Sunday through Friday (8/19-24). I cannot get over what a phenomenal place this is!! My 8 & 5 year old little girls LOVED THIS place and were so upset to leave. The water park is just right for their ages, and they rode everything a million times each day! The Resort itself was dated yes, however, we were not expecting the Trump plaza, we did our research, looked at the photos and it was absolutely fantastic. From the manager Joe, to his amazing staff who would bend over backwards to see to your every need. The grounds were well kept, and having so many different things to keep your little ones occupied it was great that you can let them run free without being on top of them all the time.
Food was fine, (not 5 star, but you are not paying for some 5 star restaurant) We thought the breakfast was plentiful, and good, and the dinners had a different variety, and the quality was good!!
As I asked my family (husband who is EXTREMELY picky) where they would want to go next year...they said "The Country Place Resort"!! Hands down that is where we will be!!!

We are from the Padavan Residence at PSCH, located in Flushing Queens. My name is Lorraine Aull, I had the pleasure of meeting the following people who definitely touched all of our hearts with their smiles, concern for all of us, their personalities, and their time and talents. I want to thank first the owner for building such a establishment, I want to thank Brian for being such a wonderful person, Sarah, who is so bubbly, Josh, who lights up the room with his smile, Leah, who works so hard for other's people comfort, I did not forget you Lauren,Thank you Megan for your beautiful smile that greeted us every morning. Thank you Dustin, Joe, Christine, Tuesday, Allison, Devin, McKensie and Markie. You ALL have made our trip both enjoyable and memorable and I will never forget you all Again THANK YOU on behalf of all my consumers and the rest of the staff. I wish you all peace and love. Stayed here in July. Rooms are VERY basic (tho they describe them as 'deLuxe!) with no shower gel / lotion etc, very, very tiny scratchy towels (no proper bath towels) no plug in bath, only 6 coat hangers provided, and most of the bottoms were falling out of most of the drawers. There were holes in the walls & ceilings & in general the rooms needed a lot of work to bring them up to standard.
Worst of all was the very poorly maintained paving throughout, and broken rails in the swimming pool! Everywhere you walked, the tiles were coming adrift & you had to be very careful indeed - the place needs urgent maintenance work. The pool entry rails were almost adrift from the side - very dangerous indeed.
It is billed as a Family Resort but it is bisected by a road! Not a major highway but nevertheless a road on which cars travel quite fast - rooms are one side, restaurant & facilities another, with no crossing. I could not let my kids out of my sight.
Misleading brochure info makes it sound as if entry to the Zoom Flume Waterpark is free - in fact you get to go free once.
Staff are nice but you are pressurized into tips - envelopes left with 'suggested minimum gratuity of $4 per day' per person.
Food is plentiful and the desserts are good if you like stodgy, calorie laden, but other courses are pretty dire - food is chock full of salt and MSG. It was almost impossible to get a glass of wine.
The area is seedy - it is on the edge of the Catskills but really in the run-down 'Irish' quarter where the houses are often falling apart & there is nothing worth seeing - unless you want to get a taste of what poor America looks like. We so much wished we'd gone to New Paltz instead.
The resort is not cheap, either, tho they seem to think it is. They make you pay the full price as soon as you get there - 1st time we have ever had this in 30 years of hotel stays - but we could see why, as if we had not had to do so we would DEFINITELY have gone elsewhere even though it would have lost us our deposit.

Let me start by saying I've never been prompted to write a review before but, my daughter and I were so disappointed I felt I must. In looking at other reviews from 2015 I think things have taken a turn for the worse under the new management. First off, do not go by any of the pictures you see on line. they are old. I won't bore with all the details just what I felt most upset about. We had a suite and the first thing I noticed was the smell. For 3 days with the a/c running the smell would not clear. The bathroom looked like it needed a good cleaning. so much so that I wore my flip flops in the shower. The refridgerator did not close and the a/c in one of the bedrooms didn't work. They did try to fix that though but, it just burnt out the socket so, for safety reasons we did without. The beds, however were comfortable enough.
The pool was constantly locked, you needed to make a special trip to management to ask it be opened. This was the same for the paddleboats as well. You had to pay to play a game of pool. The only drinks available were soda & beer even thought the sign outside says 'drink specials daily'.
Breakfast and dinner are no longer made to order. The breakfast on our first morning would have been fine except it was served cold, and I do mean cold. Eggs, pancakes, bacon and home fries, all cold. Unacceptable. Oh, and did I mention you will be eating on paper plates with plastic utensils due to the 'water shortage'? Dinner was 2 choices nightly with the same protein and starches made in different ways. I do commend the chef however, as I'm impressed that he could do what he did with what he had to work with. Decent food but, by no means what you get the impression you will be having from looking at their pictures and reading the descriptions they have on line.
All in all a disappointing experience. We will not go back and certainly not worth the almost 1k spent for 3 nights

Rooms are severely outdated, bugs in room, rust on sink, mirror hadn't been cleaned in awhile. No hand soap, hand towels, had to ask for that only for housekeeping to leave our room unlocked and open!

My Family stayed at The Country Place resort in August 2015, and just this past week as well. Having such a great experience last year made the let down so much greater this year.
Last year, we were greeted by a well organized staff. The Resort had life to it, not a Ghost Town as we found this year.
We had a welcome packet and a clear idea of dinner and activities. The dinner experience was Delightful, everything was hand made and creative. The waitstaff was plentiful, and was a well oiled machine. Breakfast was just as nice, and included made to order omelets, and other freshly cooked items such as French Toast.
I was told the place changed ownership last season(the park and resort were previously owned by the same people.)
This is where it fell apart, obviously. Dinner hour(s) was operated by a single waitress and was in her 2nd week with the resort. She was high strung and unprofessional. She had a little assistance from the owners husband and a teenage boy.
We were "pre-warned" at check in that there was a water shortage and they had to use paper products. WOW. For a one night stay with dinner and breakfast it was $326, and we eat on paper???
The food was pre-made or packaged, cold, and flavorless. Breakfast was just as bad, not one thing hot and original.
I agree with another reviewer, they used old photos for the website. The rooms do not have WIFI, microwaves, DVD players or coffee pots.
I could go on forever but all I can say is if you ever stayed in the past, DO NOT bother again....such a waste of money. The new owner needs some lessons on how to run such a multi-faceted facility. Again, too bad...it was a hidden gem.

My major concern is that the stay was not cheap, having stayed at other resorts at this price level I had higher expectations. If this is not an issue for you, them this review will seem out of place.
We stayed here for two nights. IThe pictures and being there are miles apart. It is funny because, I took a picture of "the lake" and it actually looks better in picture.
This was the last leg of a longer vacation where we stayed at other resorts, so we cant help but compare. As lodging accommodations go, this more like a economy old motel.
After the pine cleaner smell wore off, our "Deluxe Room" smelled musty. Probably because the ac had no filter and has not been cleaned in ages (see picture). Our room windows did not open which would have helped. If you do go, I would suggest bringing your own bedsheets and blankets and request a room facing the park. Beds are uncomfortable. On the good side, there is a fridge in the room.
The facilities are clean although neglected and in desperate need of updating. Two of the kids in out party got splinters from the handrails. They had no first aid kit - so we had to improvise.
The staff is all over the place trying to keep the place running.
Wifi is spotty and available only in the main building. They have also set it up as a hidden network.
If you have food included, it is plentiful. But it is average. As other have noted, they used a mix of paper products and institutional grade place settings. If they used better ingredients and fresh veggies this would be greatly improved. There are also no fruits. It is sad because there is so much local produce available in the area. Bring your own.
I found service to be well organized and fast. In most occasions, they had a single waitress working the entire dining room. Kudos to her.
Kids, unaware of what we paid for this thought we were glamping and had a great time. Smores by the fire, outdoor movie, make your own sundae, etc.
This place has potential. But is run in a shoestring budget and it shows. I wish them the best.

The reviews and website led us to think this place was going to be a great place for us and our three year old daughter. To be honest we did enjoy ourselves but we could have gone to better places for the price we paid. Some of the things to think about before coming to this place. The water park was fun! The highlight of our trip. Moving forward we have bought season passes to the park and will avoid the resort. the food was good but the service was beyond terrible. Several times we had to walk up to the waitress to have her come over to take our order. the last morning we were there we sat at our table and nobody came over to even ask for our drink order for 15 minutes. with a 3 year old sitting for 2 hours for dinner is a challenge and the wait staff seems less than trained. The advertised heated pool was not heated and the rooms smelled a bit musty. Lastly and most important from a safety standpoint. they playgrounds are a safety hazard. the playground by the dining hall had broken rungs to the ladder and broken monkey bars. Because it is made of wood sharp parts are still hanging off of it which can cause SERIOUS injury to the children that play on them. The other issue with this same playground is it's proximity to the bar. Trashy drunk people swearing is not a great thing to see and hear while your child is playing. All in all we sucked it up had fun but will never go back to the resort.
