Detailed Reviews
Me. my brother and his wife spent several nights @ The Deer Watch Inn. The owners Joann and Jack were so sweet, friendly and accomodating. We stayed in the quarters that their family usually stay in when they are in town. It was really spacious and had a nice view of the beautiful pond and fountain. Jack would leave food for us to feed the Koi fish in the pond and he told us we could even pet them. Joann was an amazing cook and treated us like royalty every morning, with a fresh homemade break to start with then either waffles or eggs. Delicious! We asked Joanne if she had any folding chairs we could take to The Mtn Jam Festival we attended and she came up with 3(and also gave me her gardening hat to wear). I would definitely recommend this place.

I've recently had my first travel adventure at the Deer Watch Inn.
Joann and Jack were the warmest strangers that opened up their
lovely home to me and members of my family. The place was
immaculate and comfortable. The grounds were serene and
manicured. I only hope my future "adventures" at a B&B can
measure up to Joann and Jacks place. They set the bar high.

+1
This is a very lovely B&B in the heart of the Irish Catskills, close to all the Irish music festivals. The owners have lovingly restored a 200-year old farmhouse that's listed in national historic register. There are cozy seating places all around the first floor, including a lovely sun room with a fireplace and TV. Comfy beds with ironed sheets. Jo-Ann was able to accommodate my gluten-free diet restriction with her gourmet breakfasts. Pictures don't fully capture the charm of this place. Every where you look, you see attention to detail and love.
We were there the weekend of 10/12/14 during Irish music festival time and it was fully booked. Many people there were repeat customers who have been coming back here for years. That's a testament to the great hospitality and comfort of this place.

We planned a quick get-a-way from our home in Western MA - and found the Deer Watch Inn. Joann and Jack were among the nicest, friendliest hosts that we've experienced at B and B's - the treated us like we were company in their home. They have a true partnership. All of JoAnn's tips about nearby hikes and restuarants were spot on. JoAnn is an amazing cook and the breakfasts were all delicious - fresh fruit, home baked bread or muffins and plenty of fresh fruit. We had some wonderful conversations with JoAnn and Jack about their family and history, as well as some great breakfast conversations with other house guests. While there is plenty to do near by (hike, golf and historic sites) we also enjoyed just sitting on the porch or by the pond and relaxing. I read through the other reviews - and all provide great perpectives. Enjoy!

My wife and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary at the Deer Watch with our hosts Joann and Jack who treated us as friends as usual. It was my wife's choice to go there, and we made the two and a half hour ride there from central Jersey to Durham, NY. Not only was the morning breakfast made by Joann excellent as always but she recommended and made reservations for our anniversary dinner at the Mountain View Brassiere in nearby Greenville. The food was exceptional and it was our first experience there but like a famous general said in WW 2 ," My wife and I shall return to both the Deer Watch (where we have stayed often) and to Mountain View. We stayed here in early June for a nearby wedding. First and foremost, Jack and Joanne, the owners, are the friendliest, most accommodating hosts you could want. They are more than willing to share the history of their home with you, and to advise you on the best sights and restaurants in the area. The home was lovingly restored, and although it dates to around 1800, it has been updated to have modern plumbing and even central air. We were very comfortable in our beds, rooms were nicely sized, and everything was very clean. The breakfasts were superb, with french toast, home-baked bread, real maple syrup, lots of fruit. The grounds are meticulously kept. This was a very relaxing stay....we didn't want to leave! Oh, and don't miss swimming in the fantastic swimming hole down the street! Also, there is a pond on the property stocked with amazing koi. My adult kids spent hours watching them!

The Deer Watch Inn is a must see, must stay Inn!! Hosts, JoAnn and Jack are the sweetest people who make you feel right at home. They are easy and fun to talk to, and knew the best spots for leaf peeping! What a breathtakiing area. We chose the "Iris" room which overlooks the pond. The room was very pretty, with a comfy king size bed, a private bath, and extremely clean!!! JoAnn is a very good cook and made some incredible breakfasts. Their sunroom is so cozy and warm. We spent the evenings watching the deer and birds eating from the feeders! The fish in the pond were something to watch as well. They would come out with their mouths open ready to eat each time we approached.
Thank you so much JoAnn and Jack for making our stay such a wonderful one! We can't wait to come back and visit!!

My husband and I truly enjoyed staying at the Deer Watch Inn. An acquaintance of ours (singer Andy Cooney) referred us over to his friend's B & B. Jo-Ann and Jack are the most wonderful people you'd ever want to meet. They are very friendly, accommodating to our needs and will direct us to any place we'd like to go to. Their life stories are very fascinating. Jo-Ann's breakfasts are delightful with homemade breads, jams and other healthy and delicious foods. Their B & B is lovely and each room is named after a special person in Jo-Ann's life. The outside surroundings are magnificent which includes a pond with fish, a small pier with chairs to relax, hot tub, woods, barn, mountains, lovely landscaping, charming wrap around porch, etc.... Even though this was the first time we've met Jo-Ann and Jack, we felt like we have been friends for years! We highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone visiting the Catskill East Durham area. Thank you Jo-Ann and Jack! You're the best! We hope to come back for another visit sometime.
