A comment on our stay at the Fair Wind Motel. My wife refers to the place as the motel from hell. When we arrived we were told there was no housekeeping (due to covid) so make your own bed if you want. If you want the trash out, put it outside the door. If you want your towels changed, leave them on the chair outside the door; presumably for the non-existing housekeeper to pick them up. A note on the wall of our room told us to call 911 in the event of a fire. Problem was there was no phone in the room. The management also left a note in our room for us to leave something for the non-existent housekeeper. As a final insult, on our last day, the toilet plugged. The view of the river was through a space in the trees and to get near, you needed to go down a blacktop road that looked appropriate for rappelling. I won't give you a star rating because, frankly, no star would be to high. William McLellan

We came to town for a family reunion. We stayed here because a family member suggested it as a nice place. We paid up front for 3 nights. During our second afternoon, we had a family emergency and had to leave the hotel to return home. I went to the front desk and explained that we had to leave and I was fine paying for 2 nights, since they couldn't re-rent our room on the 2nd night. However, I requested a refund for night 3. I was told that they couldn't guarantee my refund, because they had to turn away so many people because we reserved the room. If they couldn't re-rent it, we would be on the hook for the 3rd night. If they were really turning away people, before we got there, then surely, someone would call the next day to request a room. It is the height of summer. Needless to say, we were not refunded our 3rd night. Not only did they get a free night from us, they ALSO got 2 more free nights, that I know of, from 2 more family members who left after the 2nd night. Shameful way to do business. Hopefully they use our money to buy new curtains to replace the moth-thin ones in our front window, as well as more outlets in the rooms, so they are not using extension cords to make up for the lack of outlets. Extension cords are not a long-term solution and are a fire hazard.

Before you go to bed, think to yourself…….this is the kind of place people bring hookers. Was so skeevy we left after one night and didn’t even ask for a refund for night 2 . Was just happy to get out of there.

If I could give zero I would. This motel was skeevy at best. There were stains on the carpets and brown feces stains on the window curtain in the bathroom. No room service but they leave a tip envelope. Run!

We stayed in one of the cottages and it was very, very old and rustic needing an update and remolding also new furniture!!! The place was clean thank god for that but found cobwebs here and there! We saw a lot of carpenter Ants in are cottage crawling on the walls, floor and sometimes on us!!!! Killed a lot of them😫!!! Didn’t want to bring any of them home! There was only a small window A/C in the kitchen which took all day and evening to cool the place down also using a fan that they provided to circulate the air. There was no phone reception or any WiFi reception in are cottage!!! Wasn’t happy about that!!! They offer free WiFi which the signal was hardly there very poor!!!! Please do something about your cottages, there in rough shape!!! The review could of been a lot better!!!! The picture is some of the ants that we killed!!!
