Xigera is our love letter to the magic of the African bush. Every aspect is handcrafted to beguile our guests’ senses and stir their souls – from the evocative interiors to one-of-a-kind encounters. Transformed by Africa's life-enhancing beauty, it is a story of remarkable renewal. Of rebirth and family legacy, and of the pioneering spirit that drives us to seek out Africa’s wild spaces. The same spirit that inspired this remarkable reimagining, perhaps a complete reinvention, of an Okavango Delta safari. This is Xigera (pronounced ‘kee-jera’), named for the Pied Kingfisher that makes its home amid the watery channels of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve. The culmination of a lifelong dream of the Tollman family, drawing on six decades of devotion to unparalleled luxury in service.

Xigera is in a class by itself among African lodges. We have stayed at One and Only/Wilderness Safari and and Singita Lodges in Rwanda/Tanzania/Kenya/South Africa but this is above and beyond (comparable to Singita in Rwanda). The property is incredible. Every piece of wood is a work of art (a museum of African art), there is a fitness center (much appreciated), Internet, air conditioning, a world class bar, Spa, wine cellar, boma, library and incredible suites. We stayed in suite 6 and 4 over 3 nights and it was spectacular. Special love for the leopard bar! We appreciated all the little touches - every one knew our name, every night we had sweets by the bed, the mini bar has anything you would want, the food is 40 plant based which is GREAT and life changing for vegetarians/healthy eaters. The chef is AMAZING - we talked to him a lot and the food is 5+ star and healthy overall. The last night we were treated by Natalie (THANK YOU NATALIE!!) to a small 6 course tasting dinner with wine pairing which was above and beyond anything we could have expected. Honestly one of the highlights of our trip. Did I mention the spa? Took advantage by having a massage and also took advantage of the library with port/cognac and a gorgeous space. Our guide Chris was also a highlight - tons of Leopard/lion/elephant sightings - we were often the first ones to find the lions or leopards. The property is gorgeous. I wish they were in a concession where you could do night drives but we still enjoyed getting back in time for gin and tonics. The spa area was great, the star gazing area was amazing - all in all, just off the charts - 10+ stars if I could. he only thing I'd suggest to the general manager is a DARK SKY observing site with a pier/mount/10-12 inch telescope to take advantage of the super dark skies. For the amount they charge a night, they should rival Namibia where ewe had a professional astronomer and observatory for half the price. Just a suggestion to make this paradise even better if hat tis even possible!!! Thanks to the incredible staff (literally everyone: our fabulous bartender, Natalie, the main chef, the general manager, everyone who greeted us after each safari...) - you made us feel special. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts!!! This one is a trip for the record books and truly is in a category by itself right now.

Property's Favourite Review
Xigera is a lodge right out of Architectural Digest. The décor and artifacts was designed by 80 of Africa’s most recognized artists and designers After flying over the breathtaking Okavango Delta we arrived at their landing strip and driven to the lodge. We were greeted by a warm welcome from some of the staff upon on arrival for our 4 night stay. The huge tented suites were the most fabulous of all the lodges we went to on our 6.5 week journey through Africa. The stunning and luxurious suites are raised on stilts overlooking the Okavango wilderness with 2000 square feet of indoor and outdoor living. The décor is gorgeous with striking colors throughout. Nothing was sparred when creating the suites. Every piece of furniture in the suite is a work of art. There are complimentary drinks and treats in the mini- bar. We were shown to our suite by our Housekeeper, named Girlie. She spent over one hour explaining every detail of the suite to us, even connecting my husband’s laptop computer. Girlie kept our suite to absolute perfection all day long. She was one of the highlights of our stay at Xigera. Her personality is so engaging, passionate and she always had the biggest smile with the best attitude. We miss and love you Girlie! On our last night in our room we were surprised with candles and a special cake for an occasion we were celebrating. We appreciate all you did for us. Bostwana is known for it’s water safaris. We saw so many hippopotamus and crocodiles on our boat safaris. Our boat captain NT was great navigating the motorboat through the water and explaining everything to us with the assistance of our guide Genius. We also did land safaris with Genius. He was a charming person besides being a knowledgeable guide. We saw cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras etc. The community areas of the lodge are also spectacular including the lounge area, bar, and dining areas. All the furniture is handmade and is exquisite. The bartender, Mr. B made the best mixed drinks! The bar is a great place to go before dinner. The food was creative and delicious. Thank you to our waiters Dicks and Maatla for the outstanding service you provided us. Thanks also to Chef Malebogo, Antonio ( F & B), and Katie(F & B). One night Chef Prince made just my husband and I a fabulous candlelight dinner while we sat on bar stools facing their open air kitchen. He is so talented and the food was amazing! We also went on a Mokoro (like a canoe) through the waters. The poler stands to navigate through the waters and it was so calming and relaxing. At the end they surprised us with a full bar set up with food. That was really special! Xigera does everything “over the top”! We had fantastic massages at the Spa with Tumie and Buyi. Be sure to do this! The last night there was a Boma where we dined beneath the stars in candlelight. This elegant outdoor dining area has a fire pit where guests enjoy drinks and then a fabulous buffet style dinner with so many delicious choices. The hot food was cooked on outdoor grills. Afterwards the staff danced and sang and many of the guests joined in on the dancing. It was surely the best Boma we had on our African Adventure and a night to remember. We met the General Manager, Ben who is engaging and we loved talking to him. Running a lodge that is pure perfection doesn’t just happen without the leadership of Ben. We loved our stay at Xigera and will have lasting memories of our time there.

This lodge really sets a whole new standard of luxury in Botswana. The food was out of this world incredible, every single staff member was genuine and helpful, and the overall feel of the lodge was amazing. The team went above and beyond to add so many special touches to our anniversary trip. It was so special to see a leopard with her cubs on a game drive just outside camp. But the highlight for us was a boat cruise, ending with sundowners overlooking the beautiful Delta landscape. We’re fortunate enough to have travelled to some really nice places, but Xigera certainly has that little something “else” that sets it apart.

Xigera was the “cherry on top” of our two-week Botswana and Zambia safari. A super luxurious lodge with just as much heart and soul as top-level facilities. Our lovely guide Chris showed us the area by vehicle. We were lucky enough to see a female leopard at sunset. During our stay there were many elephants in front of the main area, they had arrived with the flood. It was so enjoyable to watch the little ones playing in the water. On the last morning we relaxed in the lodge, walking round the art installations and making the most of our room. I would recommend picking up the coffee table book on Xigera, it really puts into perspective the amount of African art present in the place.

Finally we got to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary, delayed over two years, due to Covid 19. Fortunately we had been introduced to Xigera, ‘ Perfection in Paradise’, we stayed 4 nights at this unbelievable Okavango Delta Safari Lodge, a place like no other. It is four weeks since we left Botswana, the most immense experience of our life. We have travelled extensively and stayed in some beautiful places, but nothing compares to this safari lodge. We can only agree and endorse all the other reviews that so enthusiastically describe this incredible place. Arriving in a light aircraft at the airstrip, reflecting at the diversity of landscape we had just flown over, travelling from the dry arid land and Salt Pans of Nxai Pan and comparing to the Chobe Game Reserve. Nothing could have prepared us for what was to come, the lush green waterways of the Okavango. We are driven in the most comfortable Land Cruiser to a small jetty by Genius, who was to be our guide for the next four days, so knowledgeable and great company. Transferring to a boat for our first waterway experience, arriving at Xigera, with NT ‘our boatman’, later to be our ‘fishing coach’ with Genius, which was a truly memorable day. As we approached Xigera we are immediately overwhelmed by the location of this incredible place. Later we discover how Eco aware everything was and how sustainability was incorporated in design and construction. Welcomed personally by Ben the GM and Quest the Lodge Manager, with other key team members, introducing us to everything we were to enjoy, nothing was ever too much trouble. We did not know where to look first , magnificent art, handcrafted sculptures, unique furniture, all by renowned African artists. The luxurious bar and restaurant are most welcoming, everything around you is so breath taking. Already inspired by eight previous days of enjoying this incredible country and now the opportunity to not only see more wildlife, but experience a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Okavango Delta, from this incredible place. A Health Spa, Pool and Gym and then you are shown to your magnificent suite, so spacious and luxuriously equipped, my wife so overwhelmed with tears in her eyes, what a place to celebrate, now 42 years of life together. On our first game drive we had the opportunity to follow a pride of 14 lions, 9 of which were cubs playing. Then one morning a very unusual experience, seeing them again all cautiously crossing the waterway. Watching young male elephants play fighting in the river, then we followed a leopard, stealthily hunting. At night enjoying the wonderful cuisine, we had hippos strolling past, just below us in the lodge grounds, all so close. The bush brunch experience and indulgent high teas were simply wonderful. Then there is the ‘tree house‘, three floors, hot and cold running water for a shower and a flushing toilet! Next floor has a four poster bed or you can sleep under the stars on the top floor, just unbelievable! I am sure that there are other luxurious safari lodges, but let me tell you from our experience, everyday my wife and I are still reflecting over the most wonderful holiday of our lifetime, made so memorable by everyone working at Xigera. It was a privilege to meet you all, THANK YOU for your exceptional warm, sincere and friendly service.

We spent 4 nights in Xigera with a group of 6 and we all agreed that we couldn't have asked for more. The guides, staff and manager Ben were unbelievably welcoming and left us wanting for nothing. The drives, dinners, accommodations and the whole concession in general was just amazing. To be sure that this is on our return trip is an understatement. I personally wanted to stay forever but unfortunately I cannot work in Botswana but I did get a name tag "Yomosha" which means new guy!!!

Absolutely incredible place - this is truly a mind-blowing experience in so many ways. The design of this property is so beautifully thought out and appointed that I will thinking about it for years to come. Every room is stunning and the common areas are works of art. The team did an amazing job integrating the hotel in with its surroundings, to the point that it’s hard to believe how top of the line luxury lodging could flow so seamlessly with the surrounding nature and wildlife until you see it in person. The staff were fantastically warm, knowledgeable, accommodating, friendly, helpful and efficient at every step of our stay. We loved our guiding experience with Salani and had so many wonderful interactions with the managers and the rest of the staff. An enormous thanks to all these folks who go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and taken care of in big ways and in tiny details. This was our first introduction to Botswana and our group was absolutely blown away. The guides have such an intimate knowledge of the land surrounding the property and the flora and fauna that inhabit it. Several of us have been on safari elsewhere before and this experience knocked our socks off. Highly recommend for groups, couples, and families who are looking for a once in a lifetime experience with an A-plus hosting team.

I had the great pleasure of spending two days at Xigera. It goes with out saying that it was just way to short to experience everything that Xigera has to offer! From the moment you touch down at the airstrip you are immersed in the raw beauty of Botswana, the scent of wild sage in the air evoking the African spirit within. Genius, our guide, was simply fantastic! His knowledge of the landscape and the animals is unparalleled. A deep love for the bush and its people resonates with you. The lodge itself is an oasis of luxury. The first thing that strikes you is the beautiful lily fireplace, and as you walk through the lodge you are blown away by the sheer scale of the art collection! It is almost too much to take in! All of this follows you to your suite which can only be described as “the presidential suite of the Delta" The cuisine is what you would expect at any award-winning restaurant, with a huge focus on sustainability. Simply Amazing. There is some much still to be said but the essence of the experience can never be conveyed through mere words, you will just have to go see it for yourself! In my opinion this property and the whole experience pays homage to the beauty of Africa! Can't wait to go back!

Dear Nikki, Thank you for sharing your comments about your stay with us. We have to agree with you that 2 nights is never long enough at Xigera and would highly recommend a minimum of 3-4 nights to make the most of what we have to offer. I am really happy to hear that you found Genius to be such an excellent and knowledgeable guide, will be sure to let him know. Thank you for the appreciation shown regarding the design, art and in particular our cuisine. Executive chef Ziyaad Brown and his team work hard to source only the best products in the most ethical way. As you say the best way to experience it is in person and we can wait to welcome you and your family back in the near future. All the best. Kind regards Ben Seager Managing Director/General Manager
