Sanctuary Stanley's is a classic tented camp with just eight tents built under an imposing African Ebony tree on a private concession overlooking the Okavango floodplains. Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is built on a 260,000 acre private concession in the renowned Okavango Delta. This traditional safari camp has a large lounge area and dining area with incredible views over the floodplains in front of camp. The main area features a bar from where refreshing drinks are always served with a smile, a small library area and curio shop. From the swimming pool - a real treat after a hot day of game viewing - guests can watch giraffe and other plains game march across the savannah and sometimes catch a glimpse of rare wild dogs. Everything about Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is built to the highest ecological standards so that we don't damage this highly sensitive area. The intimate camp features only eight safari canvas tents, each individually designed, furnished with African antiques that exude a classic and understated elegance that harks back to the explorers and colonialists of the 19th century. Each tent has a large wooden deck providing private areas where you can relax in a hammock while soaking in the surrounding sights and sounds or enjoy cocktails, before dinner is served in the spectacular dining mess.

Our tour company Abercrombie and Kent choose this camp as part of our safari. One of the best parts of the camp is the Staff who are always kind and caring. Every detail was taken care of including laundry (pressed shirts/pants)and special dietary requests served with careful attention to detail and taste. On our final night the staff set up a beautiful sundowner next to a large hippo pool. We shared the sundowner with 20 hippos and a couple from Germany who had stayed at this camp five years running (and recommends staying here in the future). The weather felt warm especially without air conditioning but the decks had good cross-breezes. Lions were present every night including a large male wandering into camp at sundown. Staff was concerned and diligent about our safety walking us to and fro from our tent. I loved waking up to the light streaming through the white linen curtains and mosquito netting. Very peaceful and beautiful!

This was our 2nd time staying here, first in 5/15. They had done some modern renovations on the lodge & dining room area. We stayed here for 4 nights & our room was No. 3 & was very spacious, clean, quiet & comfortable. All 3 meals & drinks are included with G & T & even cocktails. You must try Pina Colada, it was the best & made by Ooma! Our game drive guide was Sampson who was very knowledgeable & friendly. The highlights for us included a leopard on a tree, lions with a buffalo kill, hyenas with cubs & 10 painted dogs pursuing impala. We saw the Big 4 except the Rhino. One day we had an elephant walk past outside our tent to the other side of the park. It was amazing! The sunrises & sunsets everyday were spectacular with multiple colours. Free Wifi in the room with good reception. Free laundry service everyday. All meals were delicious & well presented. 5 stars personal treatment from all staff & they all are super friendly & attentive.

This was our first really authentic African safari experience. We stayed in luxurious tents overlooking grasslands with the sound of birds and animals constantly around us – amazing! We were so well looked after by the wonderful staff with incredible attention to detail – small touches like turning on our electric blankets for a warm bed when we came back after dark on the freezing nights. The camp manager Basadi was outstanding – she could not have been more helpful and we really appreciated her kindness and warmth.
The food was absolutely delicious and there was so much of it. Well done to Gareth and his team for feeding us so well. Thank you also to TJ, Gao, OT for serving us at every meal with such a beautiful smile, Tshidi, Lucy and others whose names I’ve forgotten (sorry!). They were all brilliant.
A huge thank you to our guide Fred who was outstanding in every way – knowledgeable, funny, an extraordinary tracker. We saw so many amazing animals, even after the sun went down with Fred shining his spotlight on hidden creatures. We just can’t say enough good things about Fred and felt so lucky to have him as our personal guide.
We saw a huge pride of lions within 15 minutes of driving from the lodge, plus a leopard, masses of beautiful birds, kudu, giraffes, elephants, tsessebe, a nocturnal genet, civet (also seen at night) and lots of impala. There were so many ‘wow!’ moments when we were on safari.
The accommodation was outstanding with everything we could possibly need. Even though we were in tents, once the blinds were down, we were cosy and with the electric blankets and beautiful bedding we slept soundly. Thank you to all the staff at Stanley’s particularly Basadi and her fabulous team – we felt like part of the Stanley’s family by the time we left. A truly memorable stay!

We traveled to Stanley’s Camp in June which is winter in Botswana. This means hot days and cold nights.
We had come from another camp which did not provide climate control. Stanley’s on the other hand did an excellent job as they offer Dyson heaters/ac in every room. They even pull curtains down to assist with warmth at night.
Stanleys offers intimate dinner settings with menu service. The food was SUPERB. I had the best steak I’ve ever had in my life!
Stanley’s overlooks a large flat plain area which has an abundance of animals such as elephants, monkeys, baboons, wildebeest, etc. The amount of animals you will see is innumerable.
Our stay at Stanley’s figuratively saved our vacation as it was so much better than our other camp. THE BEST!!!

We had a fantastic experience and wanted to say thank you to everyone who we met for making it an unforgettable vacation. Everyone we met was lovely and friendly and helpful and we were sorry to say goodbye. When we were getting ready to leave Basadi and her staff even brought us lunches to go which overwhelmed us and I don't think we properly thanked them for the kindness. It was delicious ( we ate most of it before we even left) She and her staff couldn't have done more to make it more memorable. Thank you all and God bless each and every one of you Diane

Best safari camp—ever. We came in June and were spoiled, as we were the only guests in the camp due to chance and the hotel newly resuming operations since covid restrictions were lifted. The tent, shower area, appointments and cleanliness —thanks to hard working women—were impeccable. Vervet monkeys all around in the morning. The staff was the best ever. Literally-ever member of the staff—from management Loretta and Bryan; Chef Garreth and his team made the most savory, gourmet, stunningly presented, cuisine at every meal.
Alllan our safari guide—showed us non-stop animals and was so friendly and knowledgeable. Owner, a wonderful woman waitstaff in the dining room was so kind and welcoming. Every single person at Stanley’s deserves 5 stars for their outstanding service.
It was a spectacular experience not only because the location in the Delta was incredible for wildlife viewing but because of these wonderful Botswanan people that make this resort what it is. A truly once in a lifetime experience.
Thanks from Lisa, Brad and Emma

Stanley Camp, what is the third of our Sanctuary properties and uniquely different from Sussi & Chuma and Chobe Chilwero. Our guide. On arrival we were greeted by the Stanley Choir led by Basida, the property manager who loves to sing. The well appointed accommodation was perfect with beautiful views across the plain where we saw elephants, zebra, warthogs, grazing, or just traversing to their next destination. Our guide for our stay, Fred, was fantastic and took us on fabulous journeys each day, and we were not disappointed in anyway as we saw leopards lions painted dogs crocodiles, hippos elephants buffalo and the list goes on. The meals were brilliant and we could not fault the service as the staff were so attentive and friendly. We just love the place and we hope you do.

Words cannot describe how wonderful our stay at Stanley’s camp was. We came in April 2022 for 4 days. The place itself is simple, but beautiful - I happen to really like rustic luxury and that is what Stanley’s camp is. The best thing about Stanley’s is the people and service. We live in Abu Dhabi/Dubai and are therefore privy to some very swanky hotels and great service - The service at Stanley’s is just as good if not better than many of these establishments. Every single person was so warm and welcoming, friendly, yet professional. They made us feel so special! The food was also very good and every day we had delicious meals and fresh baked breads. All day they brought us delicious food, wines, cocktails and snacks! We easily gained ten pounds but it was worth it. We just loved all of the bartenders and servers! Our safari guide was Temo. Wow!!! Temo was an excellent safari guide. His knowledge of the flora and fauna of his homeland is really something to be admired. He is a real man of the wilderness and he used his amazing skills to track and find leopards, lions, hyenas, small cats, buffalos, elephants, and many birds for us. We didn’t come at the time of the mokoro, but we really didn’t feel like we missed out because Temo really went above and beyond to show us his beautiful country. We really cannot sing his praises high enough. He was just the absolute best and he showed us and taught us so much. In sum - Stanley’s was fantastic and we are so blessed to have been able to stay there. Thank you Stanley’s Camp and thank you Temo!

Fantastic place. Very good accommodation conditions, very nice and helpful staff, great food. European dishes were served that tasted almost original. Big respect for the cook. And above all, a very good and experienced guide who patiently during safari looked for animals for us twice a day. Thank you very much for the wonderful time spent together

We spent 3 night at Sanctuary Stanleys camp in the Okavanga delta and we had the best time. Already getting there by little charter planes was an adventure.
First of all, staff and service were outstanding. The camps have their price but they also delivered! Very good receiption, everything was well explained. Organization of the game drives and come-backs to the camp were impeccable. As none of the animals are chipped, the guides rely on pathfinder skills to find the animals. Even though we arrived off-season and the lavish vegetation makes it harder to find the animals, we saw everything we hoped for and more. The Big Five plus wild dogs, hyenas, etc. A special thanks to the guides which were not only knowledgeable, friendly, professional but also caring and patient (as they were basically responsible for our wellbeing until we finally went to bed...)
The tented accommodation is super nice, with good views over a big open area, where you for sure get lucky to see wildlife passing by mornings and evenings. There is even WiFi in the tents, but nowehere else in the camp. Food is fabulous especially given that everything has to be delivered weekly or monthly by truck or plane.
The camp is all about game driving. All needed are the becessary outdoor clothes, sunglasses, sun hats and off you go. Mornings start early at 5:30.
With too little rainfall for years now, th delta is not as wet as it used to be. Even in the rain season a lot of areas are dry and where you formerly could only go by boat you can drive now. Still it was an unforgettable experience and we would go back any time!

Yes, it is possible to operate your own hairdryer in the room, assuming you have the correct electrical adapter for use in Botswana (Type G, D or M). Assuming you will arrive on a MacAir bush flight, they have restrictions of 20Kg per person, however your soft bag sizes (no hard sided or wheeled luggage is permitted) may not exceed 60cm x 30cm x 25cm. We brought two bags of that size each and had no problems fitting all of our gear in them. The rule of thumb is to have three changes of clothing and you'll be in good shape. You are able to carry your camera on board, but it still must be within the total weight limit combined with the rest of your luggage. Remember that upscale safari camps such as Stanley's have laundry service every day, so you don't have to pack many items. They also have soaps, creams, etc., if you feel that you can't fit your own in your luggage. Other tips for packing: Spraying clothing with permethrin well in advance of travel reduces the need for insect repellent. There is clothing that you can purchase at a premium that already had permethrin impregnated into the clothing when you purchase them. Blue colored clothing attract bugs more than khaki. Bright colors or whites are not advised, due to attracting and distracting wildlife. It's best to wear muted colored clothing, such as beige, green and grey. Since you will be there in Winter, the days will be very warm and the evenings will be mild. Even if there is an abnormal cool snap, the guides have blankets during the rides in the bush. Unless you are prone to overheating, it is always advisable to wear long pants while in the open air jeeps or walking on paths, to reduce the likelihood of insect bites.
It depends on the rains. I would imagine that November it will be drier and it will be land touring. The staff there is fabulous and will take great care of you.
