Beautiful lodge nestled in a private island with cozy living spaces. Our guide Bevan made our experience the best with his knowledge and interest . The food was awesome with so many varieties. We had multiple food restrictions and the staff took care of it so well. The staff were so friendly and made us feel like family.

We stayed 2 nights at Xugana after 3 nights at Xakanaxa and it certainly was an improvement. Fewer guests meant that everyone could sit around the fire before dinner and chat. The rooms were excellent, although very hot overnight. Our guide Bevan was knowledgeable although often seemed in a hurry to get somewhere on the boat cruises, and we may have missed things on the way. I’m not sure the boat engine was at its best as we stopped a few times, not usually an issue apart from when we were very close to some grumpy hippos. The highlight was the nature walk with Bevan who shared some very interesting information regarding the surroundings. The lodge staff were excellent, especially the lady who served us our dinner on the lagoon. Th singing before dinner was lovely too. All in all, well worth a visit, but combine it with some land safaris

It was a different way to see the animals and other wildlife; mostly in boats weaving through the Delta. Everyone in the camp was so helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and plentiful. This is truly glamping, awesome “tents”.

We visited Kruger 4 years ago and felt this could not be bettered, so looked for a different experience and the Okavango Delta is certainly that. The welcome and staff at the Lodge were very welcoming and our Lodge private, clean and well cared for. However, it is the environment that is magical and its those memories that will stay with us. Special mention to Colleen our guide, a gentleman of the real kind who imparted a wealth of experience and knowledge about, not only the animals and birds, but of how the whole structure of nature working together. You may not see animals 'close up and personal' from a landrover but you will feel the real natural habitat and the feel of nature living together as one ......... it is an immensely humbling experience. We were either on a boat zipping through the water channels to various locations and lagoons or on foot with 2 guides showing us tracks and explaining the trees, fauna and coming across various animals enroute. We saw lions, hippos (great fun) crocodiles, impalas, baboons, aquatic antelope and numerous birds. There is a mokaru trip of such peaceful & tranquillity followed by serenely and peacefully stopping on the lagoon with our sundowner as the African sun set. That memory will stay in the months to come. The Desert & Delta team took care of us very well for transfers and at the airport. A very special time.

The Xugana Island Lodge is magical. We had terrific guides (Jakes and TK) and the service from everyone at the hotel was outstanding. Each day we took a walk on an island and we learned so much about the area and how it sustains itself, the animals and biology. What your guide knows and you talk about each day is educational and fun. We saw amazing amount of animals (those darn hippos!) and birds (malachite kingfisher!). It is truly a once in lifetime spot.

Our group made the transition from dry, arid landscape to the beautiful delta vista that provided wonderful wildlife. Our guide , Colleen and Zam, were extremely knowledgeable of wildlife and surrounding area. KP directed a fantastic group of individuals to make sure our every need was met. The dinner under the stars, the sunset drinks out on the water, and the welcoming fire pit as we made our way home was just perfection! Could not have asked for a more enjoyable setting.

Considerably worse than the other Desert and Delta places we stayed. The other reviews are confusing considering this place, the bedrooms are much worse than other camps, the staff are nowhere near as friendly and it's a lot less clean and tidy than other places. Two of our Desert and Delta stays were perfect so it really highlighted how much this place was lacking. Having said that, Colleen and Kepeo were both excellent and a credit to the company. The game viewing was also good as the hippos and elephants were great to see from the boat. There was also rubbish outside our room for the length of our stay, not a good look considering how pricey it is.

We loved staying here. This was our first stop in Botswana and it could not have been better. Location, staff, guides, food, everything was perfect. The rooms are beautiful, well appointed and with a very welcome hot water bottle at night!! The food was delicious and plentiful which was not always the case in other places we stayed. And of course the scenary is beautiful.

What a fantastic Island lodge! Everything was of the utmost quality - the service, the food, the accommodation, the water safaris, mokoro ride, the walking safaris! We would go back tomorrow if we could. Please note that there are now land drive safaris - this is an island, and the activities are arranged around that. Our guide, Wise, went over and beyond the call of duty to ensure we see as many a new birdie as possible in the small space of time, sacrificing his siesta time in the afternoons, and we were exhausted and felt absolutely blessed after the trip.
