Me and my wife spent our first four nights of our honeymoon at Gunn’s camp and we loved every minute of it! Adeleine and the team were super friendly and offered great service and food, in a very genuine atmosphere in the middle of the Okavango delta. The camp is not luxurious, but very well kept and offer really good amenities considering how far from civilisation it is located. We got to the camp from Maun in a small six seater Cessna aircraft. The flight was smooth, but the experience might be a bit of a mouthful for people who are afraid of flying. The highlights of our trip however, were the game drives and the walking safari we did with our guides Titus and Eddy. Without help of any other jeeps in the area, they managed to guide us to all of the big five during the first two safaris! We saw pretty much every animal we would ever have dreamed of seeing with exception of the cheetah. We counted to a total of 25(!!) species of mammals during our short stay. In addition to their excellent “Animal finding skills”, Titus and Eddy also offered great facts and explanations about the ecology and behaviour of the animals! We would really recommend anyone who is looking for a real wildlife and wilderness experience to go to Gunn’s camp! You will not be disappointed! Just keep in mind that Mother Nature is fickle :), and there is never a guarantee to see the animals you want to see!…

We have stayed for two nights and everything was wonderful. The rooms, the restaurant, the staff, the activities...all great! Lot of nice fauna surrounding the camp: Impalas, baboos, buffalos, warthogs...but always safe and watched by staff. The game drives they organized were fantastic. We got close to lions, leopards, elephants, hipos... Unforgettable!

My wife and I stayed here in mid October and had a fantastic time. The water levels have been incredibly low in the Okavango so mokoro rides and boating weren't possible, but contrary to other reviews, Gunn's now offer game drives instead so we did 3 game drives along with one nature walk. On our game drives we saw multiple groups of lions, and all of the big 5 (apart from Rhino's). We had an elephant visit the camp as well on our final day. The food was fantastic (and you certainly won't go hungry!). What really made the stay though was the people, Lex and his team were so friendly and accommodating, while our guide Rasta and tracker Tee were knowledgeable and found the perfect blend between safety, respecting the animals and getting us close to the action. We'll never forget this trip and we'll definitely be back! …

We came to Gunn's Camp when the water level was very low, so we went on a boat ride in a channel and on a couple of walks. We saw some amazing wildlife, including a bat-eared fox, and a pod of 50-69 hippos. There were so many beautiful birds as well. The guides really knew where to go and how to behave around animals and were so knowledgeable. The staff were very hospitable and the fruit bats at the entrance were cute. Would love to come back again! I saw a comment by somebody complaining about the lack of field vehicles for safaris (!). This is a place in the middle of the delta, typically with little dry land on which to walk or drive, but spectacular views. This is a unique feature of this area and not a flaw.

Gunn's Camp is billed as a water camp. However the usual yearly inundation did not happen in March 2019. I was there in the second part of July. No provisions had been made to provide a normal safari experience. The camp did not have a single vehicle to use for game drives. Guest were expected to go for bush walks. The booking company, Odyssey World, as well as the camp had been notified months before that I was mobility impaired. They had not changed my booking to a camp that would have been able to provide services, made me loose an entire day (for which I had paid $ 1'000.-) and extorted an additional $ 169.- to change me to a different camp. Nobody at Odyssey or Gunn's Camp took any responsibility whatsoever.

To say Gunn’s Camp is in the middle of nowhere would be an understatement. We flew on a 10 seat plane to a dirt runway and swapped planes to a smaller one, 4 seats, because the 10 seat plane cold not land on the runway at Gunn’s Camp. The Camp itself is lovely. The rooms are isolated and have a great view of the Okavango Delta. We saw elephants, zebras, warthogs, antelope and lots of other animals from our room and deck. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and courtious. We came in December and there was very little water in the delta. This limited the excursions you could take due to low rate levels. However, we went on 2 Makoro trips and a walking game drive. Our guide, Stanley, was excellent and very knowledgeable about the wildlife in the delta. The entire staff, Lex, Vicki, Titus and Rams were a pleasure to meet and talk with. We would highly recommend staying here, but try to do so during the wet season when there is more water.…

Gunn's Camp is for sure not a cheap place and not easy to reach either. But it was so worth it,every single cent. The flight over the Okavango Delta was the greatest experience ever in my life. I saw Giraffes,Elephants and Rhinos from above. I had never been so excited. The Camp was luxurious and adventurous at the same time. The guides know so much about the animals, we even spotted porcupines. The food was so delicious, I loved it that we all sat at one big table having breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. The tents were incredible. But the greatest thing by far was the wildlife that sourrounded you. You had elephants standing right in front of your tent, hippos or buffalos looking at you, warthogs running through the camp. And some of the most amazing sunsets ever. I have travelled South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia as a solo female traveller and never felt unsafe, not even for a second.…

LOCATION In the middle of the Okavango Delta. Only accessible by a 6 seater plane. It has its own air strip which is shared by one other camp. A larger version of this one. Surrounded by wetlands and not fenced. Animals are free to roam around the entire camp. We did have an elephant right near our room eating the trees and during the night we could hear a hippo or elephant rummaging through the trees and making noises. They do take precautions and you get escorted back to your tent in the evenings. ROOM There are only 6 luxury tents in this camp. Amazing tents. Had everything you needed. Extra sitting room at the front and spacious outdoor shower. Plenty of space for all your things (even though you are restricted on bag size due to the small plane). There is no power points in the tents, there is a communal power board in common lounge area to charge camera, phones etc. They supply soap, shampoo etc for bathroom. FACILITIES All inclusive, meals, drinks, laundry (except underwear, but the supply powder in your tent for that) They offer river safari, walking safari and mokoro rides (like a wooden kayak). They are pretty full days but there is some down time after lunch before your afternoon activity. They have a pool. My husband used that. Pretty cold. It was fun seeing the warthogs hanging out around the pool too. A lounge area up on the top area of the communal area is great. This had lounges, self service bar area and charging station for all electrical items. Please be aware, NO wifi, its great to be unplugged. Meals are good, family table to sit with all the other guests, its great to hear other guests stories and trips. They are good to cater to dietary needs. OVERALL It gives a great vibe being such a small camp. You have two guides with you for the safaris. The walking safari was ok, but the least exciting. Didn't really see much, but at stages it was great being so close to some elephants or hippos. The river safaris gave so much in regards to wildlife. Birds galore. Hippos everywhere, which were nerve racking sometimes hiding under the water, elephants only metres away. You truly feel so close to nature. In the evenings you do a sundowner on the shore of the river which is gorgeous with the sunsets. I haven't had much experience in safaris but i felt this place keeps you close to nature and as eco friendly as possible. This camp was selected for us by our tour group and I wasn't disappointed. I think they have done well to keep this place intimate and its ideal for my first African safari. It has that tree house vibe and its relaxing to be at a place disconnected to the rest of the world even if it is for 2 nights.…

Our three-day stay here was idyllic. The camp itself is small, meaning you get to meet all the other guests, and as you arrive you are introduced to your guides who will assist you throughout your stay. Our guides could not have done more to make our stay memorable, and were very knowledgeable about all the wildlife, bushcraft, and local customs. Our tent was very comfortable, and I enjoyed waking each morning with the dawn streaming in one end of the tent, and then sitting up in bed to look out over the delta through the front. Food was both good and plentiful, and the wildlife both plentiful and varied. In particular, the local bird life was something not to be missed, and our guides made it possible for us to get close up for photographs. The activities from the camp were so different from the run-of-the-mill vehicle-based safaris. The boat rides to within a few metres of elephants, hippo, crocodiles, buffalo, and many other animals, while the experience of the mokoro (canoe) trip gave a very quiet and intimate view of the wildlife, with the ability to negotiate narrow and shallow channels not passable by boat. However, the jewel in the crown was the walking experience. We went on a bush walk on each of our three days in the camp, seeing different aspects of the area on each occasion, always with the possibility of encountering big game around the next corner (on our first walk, we moved away rapidly from a sleeping hippo, under a nearby bush, as our guides always had our safety uppermost in their minds.) We were also privileged to see the rare Pel's Fishing Owl, and the endangered Wattled Stork, as well as four different species of kingfisher and innumerable other birds. While I've lived in East Africa and been on many safaris in the past, this was a unique experience that I will always treasure.…

Gunn’s camp is set on the Okavango Delta, there is a stunning view from every tents and from the communal area. Our tent was wide, with king size bed and a lot of space to put our things. There is a safe inside the wardrobe. Toilet and sink are inside the tent, while shower and bathtube are outdoor. In the morning they wake you up bringing a cup of tea or coffee. The food was very good and wines were well paired with food. There was a wide choice of different kind of tea and infusion. All the staff is top level. Our senior guide Titus and junior guide Giorgio were skilled, we had two boat cruises, a walking safari and a mokoro tour and enjoyed all of them. The managers Lex and Vicky are capable and kind, Lex is a senior manager – even known in the other camps where we went later – who is a perfect host. Gunn’s is definitely the best of the three camps where we’ve been during our one-week safari in Botswana.…
