We lucked out being able to visit Mashatu tent and Main Lodge in November during a lull in COVID infections. One of the most amazing trips I have ever taken, In Botswana as compared to SA safari's the animals run wild, and are plentiful. Mashatu staff are amazing, the guides entertaining and insightful. Don't hesitate to visit this amazing place, we drove (first time to SA and Botswana) from J'burg to Mashatu, no issues, great roads, border crossing the only part where patience is needed. Aubrey from the photo hide, shared so much of his photo wisdom and helped us capture incredible photos one only wishes they got. Mashatu rooms are spacious, clean, and luxurious. The tents are not air conditioned which is tough in the heat of November. The food excellent, the pool refreshing.and the staff friendly and accommodating. The guides are wonderful, they give you their all day after day. So grateful to have experienced this amazing country and safari facility.…
This lodge was among the most expensive but also among the best of the 13 we stayed at in Botswana so far. The game viewing was thé best by the way. Good to know: the rooms are attached but offer enough privacy. Food was just avarage for luxury lodges. Beautiful pool (but not heated just as in any lodge so of no use in winter).
We have been filming in Mashatu in May 2021 , a time very difficult for travel in general due to the covid 19 pandemia. We spent four days in the Mashatu Lodge and i am sure it was an experience that all of us at Anotherview will remember and keep in our heart. The wonderful rooms were spotless and with an incredible view directly on the wilderness. Having a breakfast (great food by the way) facing a quiet waterhole with Impalas and Elefant quietly drinking was another plus. Not to mention all the people of the Staff, too many to name here but of course Lops and Erik who saved us aty night when arriving at the camp we got our 2x4 stuck in the sand. And of course Aubrey from PhotoMashatu, one of the surrounding facilities , a photohide from where we actually filmed the a waterhole for 24h was a great guy to meet and full of interesting stories to tell.…
This was the first trip my family and I took after the pandemic started, so a family vacation after more than a year and we could not have visited a better place. Mashatu provided us with the perfect escape from everything that is happening. We stayed there for 2 nights and 3 days, but honestly wish we stayed longer. It was a 6-7 hour drive from Gaborone, and we followed the exact directions provided by the lodge and reached there properly. During the way, the manager kept in touch with us to make sure we were on the right path. Our room was excellent, and we had absolutely no complaints. The safari was absolutely fantastic, our guides were extremely knowledgeable and went out of their way to show us the animals they could, and not just that but gave us details of the animals, track marks, birds, everything that was out there. The pictures I was able to capture came out so good thanks to the guides. The guides are extremely well animal spotters, and also great company. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely helpful in getting us what we wanted. It was great to have our room cleaned twice a day. The staff were all so helpful, kind and sweet, it made the whole experience even better. The booking process was very easy. There's no WIFI in the room but there is wifi in the wifi lounge and deck, which is honestly all you might need, keeping in mind most of the time you will be outside witnessing wildlife at its finest. There's a water body right outside the deck where you meet for breakfast, brunch and high-tea and many animals come to drink water there which is a lovely sight to see. All covid protocols were followed and masks were worn by both us and staff at all times. All in all, a fantastic unforgettable trip. Thank you so much to the team at Mashatu, especially our guides Richard and Okay and the manager! Definitely, a place I'd want to visit again soon. …
The entire staff and accommodations were wonderful. Rogers was an excellent guide and Lovemore his tracker made a great team. They did not just spot animals, but also explained the different track marks we were seeing, including showing us where a cheetah dragged its kill across the dirt under a bush where we found a little blood and a small bone left - it was like CSI animals! Lops was very welcoming and the food was excellent.
