Located high on the edge of a rocky ridge overlooking the famous Chobe River is the newly developed Chobe Elephant Camp. This uniquely designed lodge has been built to take advantage of the incredible views overlooking the sweeping floodplains while offering a comfortable refuge from the harsh African conditions. Built from the same red Kalahari sands that dominate the northern part of Botswana, this eco-friendly lodge is ideally positioned to take advantage of everything this incredible destination has to offer. Be it the spectacular wildlife that the Chobe River is famous for, or the opportunity to interact with the local Sibuya Tribe who live within this wildlife haven, Chobe Elephant Camp offers its guest a true African adventure. Based in the semi-arid bush of Africa there is always the challenge of extreme temperature variations and how to combat this. The solution came in one of earths' great insulators - the sand. The lodge has been entirely constructed from sandbags, the thick sand-filled walls create a natural insulating barrier between the inhabitants and the harsh African climate and enhance the old farm-style feel of the camp. With a variety of activities that include viewing the regions spectacular wildlife from open safari vehicles, by boat on the Chobe River, along with excursions to the nearby village to get introduced to the local culture, a visit to Chobe Elephant Camp offers a wide range of experiences to our guests. Accessible by air via Kasane Airport, Victoria Falls or Livingstone Airports or by road from Savuti, Caprivi or Kasane the lodge is ideally positioned to fit into most safari itineraries.
We had a wonderful stay at the camp. The lodges had air con and an overhead fan. They were clean, comfortable and free of bugs/nasties, with lovely cosy beds and large mosquito nets. We were there in September and didn't see many mosquitos fortunately. We had one of the lodges furthest from the main dining/reception area so it was a 5 min walk and we were escorted to and from when it was dark. The staff were all exceptional friendly and did everything to make our stay memorable. We were greeted when we arrived with singing and dancing. The food was good, albeit quite a lot of vegetable dishes. Our guide Mr T was very knowledgeable and we saw an amazing amount of wildlife. Herds of elephants, impala & kudu, giraffes, hippos, crocs, buffalos, lions and leopards to name a few. The land cruisers never congregated in large numbers and we only had 4 people + guide on each. Dining was communal and it was lovely to sit in the evening and share experiences with other like minded travellers. Mid September was a great time to visit as it made it easier to spot wildlife due to the lack of greenery. It was however very hot during the day and only cooled down to low 20s at night. The land cruisers have covered tops and as they were constantly moving the temperature on board remained comfortable, but be prepared for the 'African massage' as you do get bounced around. Be prepared for early wake up calls to ensure the best game viewing …

This is a fabulous camp. The staff so friendly and can’t do enough for you, the food delicious and if you go into the park with a guide you will learn so much. Excellent game spotters (we saw 2 leopard and lots of lion) and very knowledgeable on the mammals and birds. Rooms are beautifully furnished and views stunning especially from the pool and dining room. We loved our 3 days here and would love to return someday.

A good Safari lodge with superb game viewing. The best thing about this lodge is the abundance of wildlife in the National Park and the superb experienced guides they have. Unlike many other places they don’t over crowd their game vehicles so the viewing is good, you get a guide to look after you throughout your stay and when they say they are offering a full day activity it really is a full day. The service is great, the rooms are large and comfortable, the bar and restaurant are functional albeit somewhat regimented to their daily Safari timetable.

What a fantastic experience. The accommodation was clean and gorgeous. Wonderful fresh food OT was our game driver and we saw everything. Lion. Leopard. Elephant. Giraffe. Hyena. Antelope of every variety! He taught us about tracking - so interesting. It was truly awesome. Can't thank Chobe Elephant Camp, OT and their manager Frank enough for their wonderful hospitality and experience.

If you plan a multiple safari trip, make this your last stop. The abundance of animals in the Chobe Park can make you feel like you have arrived at safari heaven. We saw over 100 elephants in a single setting, 200 baboons crossing the Chobe River and too many zebras to count at another crossing. Every day we were able to identify so many birds that our identification books were finger worn after just six days. I can not say enough good things about our guide, Iso. He was an amazing spotter, had a thorough knowledge the differences juvenile’s and adults in not only appearance, but also behavior and was able impart this in the softest, most charming humorous manner. A true gem of a guide. The accommodations, food and camp itself were very good, but it was the abundance of the park and the guide that made for one of the most incredible trips of my life.…

We really enjoyed our stay at Chobe Elephant Camp. The staff were great, welcoming us in by singing as our safari vehicle approached the lodge entrance. Fantastic! The view from the decking over the river was wonderful, it was great having a G&T watching the sunset. The service by the staff during dinner was fantastic and the food was great. Thank you to everyone at this camp, we loved it!

We had the best arrival to the camp by some of the women, who sang and danced a welcome song for all the new arrivals. The hut was roomy with adequate storage and hanging space and beautifully decorated. The dining and lounge area was very roomy. Great selection of tasty for for all meals. There was another surprise after dinner, with the entire staff singing and dancing. It was absolutely mesmerizing and exquisite listening to them perform. Our driver/guide O T was very experienced in tracking the animals so we saw many. Whilst having our first G&T sundowner we saw all of the animals walking away from the water to the land, it was amazing. Frank was the new Manager taking over and he accompanied us out on one of our Safaris to familiarise himself with the lay of the land. We seen him go out of his way to ensure all guests had a wonderful stay. Would highly recommend this place. …
