Unlike other lodges this camp ist build with sand bags, therefore the temperature in the houses is significantly lower than in tents. In addition there is air conditioning as well. The camp itself is about 10 years old and this time did not pass unnoticed. The pool was recently renovated and offers excellent views (like the rooms) to the Chobe river. However, the staff makes up for this with motivation, engagement and decent food. Game drive (thank you, Emax) in the the National Park was entertaining as well, the Park management however does not allow drives off the tracks. After dark you can not roam around in the camp due to security reasons.
Stayed here for the last 2 days of my 8 day Botswana safari after 3 days each in Nxai Pan and the Okavango Delta which were with Kwando. The accommodations are nice but not as large and elaborate as those with Kwando. The setting overlooking the Chobe is amazing. The service and attention to detail were greatly lacking-considering there were 7 staff besides my guide and I was the only guest. Both of my dinners came out not even really warm and I had to send them back. When I was out my full day with my amazing guide, Gabriel, I came back and the drink fridge (again, only guest, only for me) was not restocked with cold beverages. Overall, it just seemed the onsite staff were indifferent. Regardless, the food was OK and after all, I was here to see the wildlife and not to indulge in cuisine. And what wildlife-unreal-blew away what I saw at Splash Camp at Moremi Reserve. An 11 out of 10! On land and in the river! Everything in large quantities around every tree and around every river bend in the solo boat ride I had on the river as part of my package. It was like a living psychedelic experience only really happening in this earthly reality. Splash setting/wildlife was a 10 and Nxai Pan was a 9. To boot, Kasane seems like a lovely town with everything needed in an astonishing natural setting-I am planning to stay the max. 90 days in this area as I am now in my retirement and plan to do it when my social security payments kick in when I turn 62 in 4 years.…
My wife and I visited Chobe Elephant Camp mid May 2021, it was beyond what we hoped for. The staff was happy for us to be there and as friendly as could be, they made us very comfortable. The camp is west of Kasane and I'd recommend it if you want to get away from the town atmosphere. Our Guide, Gabriel, was more than knowledgeable, I'm not sure if it was his skills or this area has so many animals it was easy to find them, No, it was his skills. It was beyond what we expected. We'd been to three other camps before this one in Chobe, around Botswana, and there were so many animals I almost quit taking pictures. Now is the time to visit these camps, they are not full and very safe.
I loved my stay at Chobe Elephant Camp! The staff are fantastic!! Traveling during covid times, they have limited folks on hand, compared to when they are fully booked, and I happened to be the only guest at the time. I don't think this mattered - they pulled out all the stops to give me a fantastic trip and stay! I arrived on my birthday to find the staff outside the main lodge singing and dancing. It only got better from there. My room had a sweet birthday welcome and they baked me a birthday cake for after dinner (with some more singing - what lovely voices they all had!). My game drives were obviously personalized since it was only me and Gabriel, and we got to see my best sighting of my entire time in Botswana by coming across lions moments after killing a giraffe. We only saw this through his excellent spotting as I would've marveled at the giraffes without noticing the circling vultures and making a point to take a look around the bushes. ha! Due to a travel hiccup, I had to extend my time beyond originally planned and everyone was so accommodating and helpful. I truly believe the staff at CEC were the most joyful, happy people I have met in years. My room was quite comfortable, the food was DELICIOUS, and the trips into Chobe National Park for the game drives were quite convenient. If you have the opportunity to stay here, I'd highly recommend it!…
This Lodge was on point from Start to Finish! Sure it isn't a '5 star' resort or property, but for this part of the woods it certainly is, and the smiles on the staff here are most certainty 5 star. Comfortable beds, great food and wine and amazing Rangers that really know their stuff. Highly recommend!
