Rates from USD 500 per person per night. Savute, a remote and wild corner of Chobe National Park, stretches from the park’s northern boundaries to the Linyanti River. It’s named after the enigmatic Savute Channel, which flows and dries up intermittently, seemingly unrelated to rainfall: it flowed in 2009, again in 2013 and no-one can say when it will flow again. Savute Under Canvas is a mobile camp carefully positioned close to this channel which feeds into the Savute Marsh, home to exceptional numbers of elephant-hunting lion. Situated within the unique and haunting Savute landscape, our exclusive mobile campsites are perfectly situated to explore this remote region. The common guest area comprises open-sided tents for dining, pre-dinner drinks, or simply whiling away the time between game viewing adventures with a good book and a frosted beer or glass of wine. Delicious meals cooked over the coals are shared around a blazing fire. You’ll love the spaciousness of our mobile tents. This is our 2nd time staying with the andBeyond group with the previous stay at the Chobe under canvas in Aug 2018. We enjoyed the experience and decided to try a different camp site and here we are ( Aug 2020 but got postpone). As others have mentioned, this is a luxurious and wonderful glamping setup. Swallow, the camp manager and his team (Tony, Elliot, Ronald, Big Mike etc.) have a strong camaraderie and driven by the strong passion for their belief n work. We stayed for 2 nights and had many wonderful sightings. We had Tony as our guide and was full of knowledge n stories. There was even a moment the lions came roaming thru the tent on one evening. That’s the reason, children below 12yrs of age are not allowed in the tents. The camp accommodates a maximum of 10 guests. Savuti (there is no river n more drier vegetation) is located about 7hrs by road from Kasane and Chobe camp (animals drink along the river) is next to Kasane - for those curious as to what’s the different between the 2 camps. The road distance is for reference only as you will be flown into the airstrip instead. The group of animals in Savuti are different from Chobe. The only inconvenience for those who need a hair dryer, there isn’t one in the tents. Don’t hesitate and book your next stay.…

We stayed for three nights over New Year and had a truly fantastic experience. From the time we were collected at the Savuti airstrip until we left from the same place for a short flight to Kasanes international airport we enjoyed every minute in the company of the camp manager Igobe and his staff. Our guide TT was amazing in his ability to read tracks and spot animals and birds on all game drives. The food prepared by the chef Junior and served with a full range of beverages early morning, at lunch and dinner by Innocent was excellent. Our tent, powered with solar cells, water closet, and hot shower ready after late game drives - and the whole camp were mobile in the sense that every week it was moved into a new location in the Savuti park. A very appealing concept minimizing the impact on the nature. We watched wild dogs - two days out of three - hunting, eating, playing and resting - a large male leopard at very close range, lions, kudus, elephants and many more animal species. Birds included seven species of bustards, many different eagles and falcons, and lots of waterbirds enjoying the pools of water that were the result of some good rain showers. We arrived at Savute as our first camp not really knowing what to expect. We were blown away by the incredible team that works there! Our tent reminded us of the ones used at the Quidditch competition in Harry Potter. So luxurious it had a magical feel to it. The bed is the comfiest we’ve slept on during our whole trip in Africa! The room is spacious with an actual shower, a bucket used as a sink with warm water replenished multiple times a day, and an actual real toilet! We were lucky enough to have the camp to ourselves the two nights we stayed there due to a last minute cancellation. That gave us the opportunity to spend a lot of tine having interesting, meaningful conversations with the manager Igobe and our guide Benjamin. We learned so much about Botswana! Igobe is the most devoted and friendliest manager you will ever find. He was there to make sure our stay was enjoyable and he went out of his way to make us feel like home! Every meal including breads and cakes are prepared on an open flame. Emma is an incredicle cook and prepared fantastic dishes for us! We loved how homey and authentic the food was! Our first dinner around the bonfire was so much fun! Our game drives were led by Benjamin. We spent several hours every day exploring the Chobe National Park. Keep in mind it is a national park which means the ranger is not allowed to go off-road and there are no drives in the dark. We were still lucky enough to see a big male lion steal the kill from his lady and try to keep it all to himself. Seeing the little cubs try to take a bite and being pushed off by their roaring father was really impressive! We also got to see a huge heard of beautiful elephants drinking, giraffes, leopard, hyenas, tessebe antilopes, black back jackals, a rock monitor, ostrich, and much more! The whole team would put up a dance show when we got home! It was beautiful to witness them having funnand singing/dancing for us! We had the most wonderful time and it was really hard to leave! Being welcomed by a wonderful staff, with African singing and home made drinks and warm towels. That is what you can expect when you arrive at the &Beyond Salute under canvas camp. The camp sits on the same location for 6 nights, then it is moved. Thus creating minimal impact on wildlife but on the other hand ensuring excellent game viewing and bush experience. An experience enhanced by Swallow, Innocent, Junior, Cam and Elliott. They are such fun guys who take very good care of you. Juniors stories are hilarious and Swallow is the strong rock amidst the enthusiastic guys. Tents are comfortable and spacious, with an indoor bucket shower, comfy beds, bedding and towels. Environmentally friendly toiletries are provided, again to minimize impact on the environment. There are 5 tents in this camp, making it a little bigger than the &Beyond dome tent camps. Meals are taken at one big table, ensuring interesting table talk with your fellow guests. All in all a wonderful experience!…

Our Mini Explorer Safari from & Beyond in Botswana was a big success. So close to nature in one of the last parts of “willd” and unspoiled Africa. It was again a privilege to be guided by KD. This man is so knowledgeable, gentle and passionate about nature, Chobe and the Delta. He introduces you into all the miracles of this area and let you discover how the system works. Two years ago we did a Superior Explorer Expedition with him. This time we were so lucky with all the animals we saw. 6 different leopards crossed our way. We saw a kills of a female leopard with a cub been stolen by a male leopard and later stolen from him by a den of hyenas with cubs. The first night in Chobe, when we were in our very comfortable beds, we got a visit from 4 lionesses within 6 meters of our tent. The staff in all three camps were wonderful. We loved the new dome tents in Chobe. The bucket showers in the open air are so good. The staff in Chobe was very nice, enthusiastic and helpful. Always with their genuine big smiles. The food was perfect. We really felt welcomed back. Our second camp was Savuti under Canvas. The six guys who managed the camp were again wonderful and the best dancers and singers you can imagine. They welcomed us to the camp at arrival, but also after every game drive, with a lot of energy and fun. It is amazing how personable all the staff was in all three camps. After two days, when you leave a camp, you really feel you are saying goodbye to good friends. Our last stop in Nxabega Trails camp was also very good. Although the Delta was still dry. It was good to see the difference with 2 years ago. The camp in Nxabega at night is just a fairy tail. The enormous amount of lamps they place, transforms this stunning spot in nature into a ball room. You always worry, before you go, if the second time will be as good as the first. Can the trip lift up to you very high expectations and will the other guests be as much fun as our good friends from New Sealand from last time. Well, also this time the group was perfect. The Swiss-French travellers were very experienced safari travellers and fell immediately in love with the Explorer feel. And yes the second time is even better than the first. We are already planning a new Explorer trip with and Beyond. After such a trip so close to nature with such a good guide, you are spoiled for other safari opions.…

I arrived at the Savute airstrip from Kasane airport to visit Savute Under Canvas as the last camp of my six night Botswana safari. My goal in selecting the three different properties I stayed at in the Okavango Delta, Chobe and Savute National Parks was to experience a different landscape of Botswana with each one. Savute satisfied that wish, as its situated in a remote corner of the larger Chobe National Park and has its own signature terrain and wildlife which differed from the other landscapes I had seen. This is the place to be for the unique wildlife encounters. The safari guide there named Dips was an encyclopedia of knowledge and satisfied all of my wishes. The first night he took us to visit a pride of three lion brothers. I had never heard the powerful sound of a lion’s roar so up close and being right next to it, with only the invisible barrier of the safari jeep’s open doors separating us, is something I will never forget. The next day I had wanted to see a leopard up close, as the others I had previously spotted where out in the distance making it hard for a good photo. Dips delivered on that with no problem. Shortly after leaving camp that day, we came across a leopard lounging right in the middle of the road. He stuck around for quite a long time, posing for us and I got more than enough good quality photos. And not to forget those sunsets, I had never seen the sky light up with so many different colors. Savute was such a magical place that you don’t want to miss. Along with the talented safari guide Dips, the rest of the camp staff made for a comfortable stay under canvas. The food was amazing, I was impressed by the meals I ate in such a remote place in the middle of the bush. As you won’t get this same magical experience in a traditional lodge, don’t hesitate in staying at Savute Under Canvas. …

We recently returned from Savute Under Canvas. This was nothing short of an incredible experience. We can't imagine the immense logistics behind such a camp setup in the middle of nowhere, but the staff at Savute Under Canvas executed it flawlessly. The guide Dips was incredible and knew so much about Botswana and all the wildlife, the food was amazing, and the experience was unforgettable. If you are considering a true safari experience deep in the bush, away from overwhelming hordes of tourists, go here! You are glamping and this is about as nice as you can get but still have that true camping experience/feel. If you are not adventurous stick with your local zoo. I really wouldn't give much credibility to any review that doesn't give this camp 5 stars. Everyone was so wonderful and it was the perfect experience.…

We had a memorable stay under canvas tents, out in the open in Chobe National Park! The amenities were excellent, comfortable bed, lights, amble space in the tent, toiletries, a toilet and bucket shower within the tent itself - it’s glamping definitely! The staff were very warm and friendly and really was a major reason to such a wonderful experience - the meals were excellent and all-round delicious - impressive how they whipped up all that, including baking cakes and bread in a mobile camp! We saw lots of animals on the game drives just over 3 days 2 nights, so that was definitely a highlight as well! Thank you all at Savute Under Canvas!

We have stayed 2 days in this camp and the Wildlife was astonishing. We saw lions, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, elephants even a honey badger during our early departure for the game drives. Camp is also very nice with the bucket shower and the good food. It is off course a moving camp so keep that in mind.
