We booked for three nights and stayed for five! Tucked away round the corner from Hermon and Riebeeck Kasteel, and right on the river, we discovered a piece of paradise! Steve and Kay were there to welcome us and show us to the beautifully grassed and shady camp site, and from the time we arrived to the time we left, we enjoyed every minute. Being 'Mature' campers, an added bonus was the fact that no children under 18 are allowed, so our peace was unbroken! In the words of Arnie 'We'll be back!' Thanks Steve and Kay, and Alfie the dog enjoyed it too!
I could not recommend staying here more! We stayed in the camp ground and Kay and Steve could not have been more accommodating, from the minute we booked until we left. The camp sites are large, braai facilities are available, they are well lit of an evening so that you don't stumble into trees, and there are several super friendly dogs that will check in on you from time to time. Definitely plan to go back, there is nothing like waking to the sound of the fish eagles flying over the river just meters from your tent!
We camped over during the Riebeek Kasteel Olive Festival 2-4th May, the owners pointed out that their camp site had been recently developed and were open to any suggestions for improvement. This attitude is commendable and I feel it unfair they have received negative comments from other guests. As it was a festival weekend the owners could have packed in campers like sardines just to make a fast buck (and plenty of camp site owners with no integrity do just this believe me!) but the were not prepared to sacrifice the quality of the camping experience for this. Big round of applause here - there is nothing one detests more than queuing for toilets and showers only to have a cold one because they have exceeded their capacity for greed!!! All the best for the future Steve & Kay!…
This place is home away from home, closer too the berg river you won't be! ! Steve and Kay will take care of all your needs, we camped in the shade of large fabulous trees on green lawn. Riebeek valley and their fabulous restaurants are a short drive away, see u soon
The room we stayed in was lovely, liked having a fridge with ice and milk for the coffee. Only thing was that we could hear the guy next door snore. The hosts were very accomadating and there is really nothing else bad to say about the place, I'd stay there again if I was ever in the area.
