Kleinzee Guesthouse is exclusive, peaceful and private. Located only 1 km from the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, guests have direct access to the cliff paths for seaside hikes. It is set on the pristine ocean front with spectacular views extending over Walker Bay and the Kleinrivier mountain ranges beyond. We are located in the best area for land based whale watching between August and November when Southern Right Whales come up close to the cliff edge. Breakfast is served daily on the balcony overlooking the ocean. We offer home made muesli, freshly baked muffins, flapjacks and scones and a full English breakfast. We can arrange boat trips, shark cage dives, horse riding on the beach and De Kelders cave tours for guests.

Fantastic views, really good service from Monica, made us feel extremely welcome and relaxed. Thought the telescope to view whales was a great idea. Room had everything we needed, and was neat and well kept, chose to get takeaways to sit on balcony and enjoy the view instead of eating out

What a place to stay! firstly I would to give a mention to Monica that looked after us incredibly well and is a fantastic host. Now the views are exceptional, we had a breakfast (which was amazing) on our balcony watching the whales swim by, such an amazing experience, The room itself was large, very clean and a very comfy bed. I would highly recommend Kleinzee to anybody looking to visit Gansbaai or Hermanus (short drive away) I would also recommend Blue Goose for dinner!

We stayed for 3 nights as part of a 14 night trip and this was our most expensive accommodation. We were looking forward to an experience that reflected this higher cost. Apart from the views which are amazing directly overlooking the bay and the quiet location, we were slightly disappointed that some of the small personal touches that we experienced at other places were missing. Little things such as no shampoo in the bathroom, no beer or wine in an honesty bar for example. We were also woken up around 7am every morning as our room adjoined the main breakfast area and preparation area. We missed having someone to advise on restaurants or things to do. Breakfasts were ok. Despite high expectations, this was unfortunately our least favourite place we stayed in during our trip.

Dear Guest, We can unfortunately not supply alcoholic beverages during these times due to Covid restrictions. Not having shampoo in your room was an oversight by the staff and has been addressed with them. All rooms have high quality Simply Bee organic body care products manufactured on the Cape West Coast. This includes a body wash, lotion, shampoo and conditioner. The main buffet breakfast area has been taken away to ensure that guests who want to sleep in late can do so in peace and quiet. Breakfast is now delivered to the individual suites to enjoy on their private sea front patio's.

We spent 3 nights there and had the most amazing time! The hostess was lovely and was there for everything that we needed as well as she was friendly at all times. She also made sure we could see the whales through the telescope calling for us when she saw them as she knew we were excited to see them. The place was clean and comfy but at the same time very elegant with lovely personal touches such as rusks and awesome plunger coffee. The breakfast was absolutely amazing made up of croissants, fruit and muesli and then a hot breakfast. On our last morning we sat outside and watched a whale about 50m from us while eating breakfast. If you are concerned about COVID-19 then this is also a good place to stay as you are far from other guests and it is very private.

We stay at Kleinzee after the Aghullas triangle wine festival at Lomond farm. Elche was the perfect host and did everything to make us feel comfortable. Our room had the most beautiful seeview with the best view over the bay. The sunset was spectacular and the whales were playing the next morning, they were so close! The room was very nice, I would just like to suggest that there must be a flat sheet on the bed and not just the duvet. Thanks for the rusks and real milk with the coffee! It would have been nice if the two beds were made up as a king size rather than two singles.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable weekend at Kleinzee Oceanfront Guesthouse in Gaansbaai. The staff, service and food was excellent. The view from our room was exceptional and we enjoyed the morning and afternoon walks along the beach road. We highly recommend anyone to visit Gaansbaai and spend a few days at Kleinzee. You wont be disappointed.

We absolutely loved the room and comfort of our balcony where we were served breakfast with the most stunning views, birds to watch and lovely sunsets. Marika and the other girls were wonderfully attentive and helpful but were hampered by being unable to obtain supplies if they ran out.
There was no ordinary breakfast tea. ( A must for English who do not like Roobos ) As we were there 5 nights Marika eventually managed to borrow some for us but not for the room. No semi milk and the yoghurt ran out one morning. Bakery items on the menu not available. Owner involvement could have rectified these niggles. One day without warning workmen were working on the room below with banging and drilling for hours.
It took us an hour to find the property. The area is very confusing to navigate without SatNav. Detailed directions would have been helpful.
With a little more attention to detail, we would have given 5 stars.

Dear Guest, we do apologize for the noise made by the workmen. We had the unfortunate incident of an unexpected water pipe burst that unfortunately had to be rectified. I can assure you no routine maintenance is ever carried out while guests are enjoying their rest. The guest house manager at the time, Marika, was responsible for stock control with daily grocery deliveries to her disposal. She had unfortunately neglected to ensure adequate supplies and we have taken earnest action to ensure no such incident in future.

The room was clean, orderly, and comfortable, with a well-maintained bathroom and fantastic view. Breakfast was well-presented and served on our balcony. In summary, Klienzee Oceanfront Guesthouse is beautifully maintained, clean, and well-situated. However, the host’s lack of friendliness and the inadequately trained staff might affect your overall experience
Disliked · Upon our arrival at Klienzee Oceanfront Guesthouse, we encountered an unwelcoming reception from the host. As we arrived 30 minutes before the official check-in time of 14:00, the staff member on duty had to call the host to determine if we could occupy the room. The host responded in Afrikaans, which I speak fluently despite having a foreign name, indicating that we were too early, the room was not ready, and we should return after 14:30.
When we inquired about nearby dining options for a late lunch or early dinner, given that we had been traveling since early morning, the staff member informed us that restaurants only opened at 18:30. No additional advice or assistance was provided, which appeared to be due to inadequate staff training rather than any fault of the staff member.
We then resorted to sitting in our car and using various apps to find a place to eat. During this time, the host arrived hastily but did not acknowledge us. We eventually found an excellent restaurant called The Great White House, which I highly recommend. The service and food were exceptional, and the restaurant operates all day. Upon our return around 16:30, our room was ready. While unpacking, someone, presumably the host, entered our room without knocking, saw us, and left without any greeting or apology—an unusual and uncomfortable occurrence.
On the day of our departure, as we needed to leave early before 08:30, we requested some yogurt, muesli, and fruit to be placed in our fridge the previous evening. Although we were told this was possible, it never arrived, leaving us without breakfast. This again reflected insufficient staff training.
Guests should be prepared to manage independently regarding local dining and attractions, and ensure their room is securely locked to avoid unexpected entries.

We were very impressed with Kleinzee we stayed in the Delux Suite which was a pleasant upgrade. They have thought of everything and it was a lovely stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating with Elche and her team going the extra mile for us! The room was really lovely, the bed quite comfy and the room was clean, in fact it was one of the cleanest places I have stayed at, which I absolutely loved! The only thing I would recommend is an air conditioner in the room, it would help with sleep quality. We will def be back again in Whale season.
