Situated on the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains on Route 62 in the Klein Karoo, 1 km from the world renowned Meiringspoort, lies the small village of De Rust. Do the circle route, over the majestic Swartberg Mountains, tackle one of many dirt road mountain passes with your 4x4 or motorbike, swim under the waterfall in Meiringspoort, visit Prince Albert, Ostrich farms of Oudtshoorn and the Cango caves. Relax in our beautiful garden and swimming pool with braai facilities. There is ample safe parking and facilities to wash your car. House Martin offers 12 double rooms each with their own private veranda leading into the garden. Rooms are tastefully decorated with high quality bedding, electric blankets, panel heaters and air conditioning. Complimentary tea, filter coffee, mineral water, homemade biscuits and sherry. Enjoy a Continental breakfast in our dining room situated in the large manor house built in 1885. All homemade and freshly baked.

Housemartin is in the village of Rust not far from Oudtshoorn. The rooms are in the main house's garden and are like mini chalets with their own terrace and barbecue area. They are absolutely charming and comfortable with all you need in the room and the ensuite bathroom. We felt so welcomed by the owners who hosted a dinner and barbeque for us. The food was superb and the staff attentive and charming as well. My only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer. It would have been the perfect place to have a bit of a break/rest up from the tour we were doing. It was the best place we stayed in during our holiday.

I stayed for 2 nights here as part of a group Garden Route tour in this beautiful, friendly guesthouse in the pretty town of De Rust. Great hosts, very comfortable rooms and delicious home cooked food.

We were warmly welcomed by our hosts Jan and Therese. We enjoyed a wonderful 2-night stay while exploring the Garden Roure with our Exodus group. The rooms were cosy and comfortable, the staff friendly, the food wonderful. We marvelled at the nearby Cango caves and swam in an icy-cold river under a waterfall. Memorable.

I stayed here for two nights in October on a Garden Route group tour. The room was spotless, spacious and very comfortable with a verandah to sit out and in a beautiful garden setting. The hosts, Theresa and Jan, were very welcoming and cooked us a lovely meal on the first night and a barbeque on the second. They did everything they could to ensure we had a comfortable stay. All in all a perfect stay.

I had the pleasure of staying at House Martin Guest Lodge in De Rust recently, and I was again blown away. From the moment we arrived , we were made to feel welcome and at home. The owners and staff was friendly and helpful, and they went out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Our room was spacious and well appointed , with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Everything was comfortable, clean and the stunning setting and environment added to the perfect experience. I highly recommend a stay at House Martin Lodge.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the most friendly people. They welcomed us and immediately showed us around and took us to our rooms. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice and clean the rooms were. The food which they prepared was absolutely amazing. The garden provides you with the feeling of a tropical forest with a lot of birds. Absolutely amazing.
