We stayed in one of the retro caravan (Mongoose) and loved it. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem. We really enjoyed our stay and extended it for an additional two nights. The wine tasted great. The lapa was a great place to braai and eat. The ablutions where clean and sanitisers, disinfectant and hand washes where at your disposal. The best that that we encountered in the Cederberg.
A place that I would not hesitate to recommend and return to.

The motivation for our visit to Alpha Excelsior was to view the Spring wildflowers and to do some short hikes in the Cederberg region. We are not boulderers. We stayed in a caravan in Donkey Camp. Our stay was a great success in all respects. The wildflowers on the farm and the surrounding valleys were awe inspiring, and the rocky mountains and night skies were beautiful. We are seniors and were very definitely the oldest people there at the time. But the memorable thing about our visit was the warmth and friendliness of the owners as well as the other much younger visitors who came from all over the world. There is a feeling of community, and not once did we feel outsiders. The scenery and the night sky were just a part of the attraction.

I've stayed in a caravan at the donkey camp on alpha's for three times now and would do so on a next trip again. Caravans are cozy and clean and equipped with everything you need. The lapa offers a common kitchen, braai (bbq) and hangout area with comfy couches. The shower and toilets are clean and offer hot water. In 5 minutes by foot you reach the henhouse which offers great coffee, tea and cakes, as well as pizza, pasta and potjiekos (stew) nights. There is a nice dam to swim in and hang out on hot days as well as a nice hike to a waterfall.

I have been to Alpha Excelsior three times and I am still not bored! My 8-year-old and I absolutely ADORE this very special place surrounded by the magnificent rocks that are characteristic of the Cederberg and unique to the Western Cape, making the drive out of Cape Town absolutely worth it. I can promise you that after a few days here you will feel rejuvenated and restored. We love kayaking, swimming in the dam, exploring the trails, and making friends with the beautiful animals on the property. The staff were also really helpful when I had some car trouble. While you feel you really are at one with nature, you also feel very comfortable because a lot of thought has been put into making guests feel at home, from lots of cutlery to fresh linen and small thoughtful details like matches for the gas stove. We stayed in both the caravans and a cottage and enjoyed both experiences very much. The communal lapa area is awesome and the ablution block is extremely clean. Thank you so much Alpha Excelsior family!

We've stayed with Alpha Farms twice over the last few years, both for 3 weeks at a time. As climbers, we are visiting to climb in Rocklands and the atmosphere at the Hen House is great! Both times we stayed we stayed in the Riverside Cottage. It's cute, clean & cozy. The breakfast items at the Hen House are amazing (I ate there nearly every morning) and the staff is great too. We love Becky, James and Shannon, everyone is so friendly and helpful. Next time we return we hope it's for a longer stay, and it will definitely be at Alpha Farms :)

Alpha Excelsior provides a wonderfully relaxing stay. Set on a working farm, the ambiance is refreshingly far from the corporate blandness of most hotels I have been in lately. We have just spent a wonderful 10 days there staying in the very well furnished homestead. Alpha proved a great location to stay and enjoy the ample climbing, walking, rock paintings and nature that the local vicinity has to offer. The owners (and their dogs) are exceptionally warm and welcoming and go out of their way to provide you with every reasonable requirement. The onsite coffee shop (hen house) provided brilliant food and drinks on the days that we weren't up to cooking for ourselves.

I had an amazing, peaceful weekend at Alpha Excelsior Guest Farm, surrounded by the most beautiful, pristine scenery, and welcoming hosts James and Becky. The hen house breakfasts and waffles were absolutely delicious, as well as the wine and olives. I can't wait to escape to paradise again.

Delightful little olive and boutique wine farm (you can do tasting in their cellar) situated just on the other side of the Pakhuis Pass near Clanwilliam. Some world-class boldering sites in the area (some within walking distance). The hosts Becky and James are eager to make sure you feel at home and if required well-fed (there is a little bistro on the farm, with a balcony looking out over a small stream and the stunning mountains - great sunset viewing spot!). Perfect for a romantic getaway, there are a few secluded cottages on the farm. A magical river and waterfall in a typically striking Cederberg ravine complete the adventure.

We stayed at Alpha Excelsior for 3 weeks in July and we would defiantly stay here again. The cottages are so cute and comfortable. We stayed in the Riverside and the Weaver. It was very close to all the climbing areas. I loved being able to wake up to the sounds of birds and walk to the hen house for breakfast each morning. The company of dogs always put a smile on my face because I really missed my pups at home. There are no words to describe the owners and the staff. They are by far some of the kindest people I have ever met in my entire life. Becky, James and Lizzy are so kind and helpful. The Hen House cooks amazing food! The laundry staff is fast and sweet. It's walking distance to the waterfall area and they have pizza nights on Sunday's so there is always a lot to do. Love love loved staying here and can't wait to go back!

Alpha farm is tucked away behind the Pakhuys Pass and it is an awesome place to loose track of time and enjoy the beauty of the Cedarberg. This is a working farm which also sells its delicious olives, oil and wines. The accommodation is charming and the hosts automatically make you feel at home. There is an endless array of activities from swimming in the farm dam, hiking to the nearby waterfall and rock paintings, to sunning flower displays in spring, wine tasting and world renowned rock climbing. This is truly a magical place which has stolen a very special place in my heart!
