Detailed Reviews
Very very peaceful, old Dutch? style farmhouse set in beautiful gardens. Spacious cottages and, unlike many places in southern Africa, the heavy curtains keep the early morning sun out for the weary traveller needing a sleep-in. A washing machine with detergent provided was a welcome facility for the nomadic traveller. 100% self-catering and a 15-minute drive from town. No generator against the increasingly frequent load shedding (power cuts) in South Africa.

One of the many good things about Klein Boschkloof is how well equipped the self-catering accommodation is - lots of little touches, such as washing powder and fabric conditioner for the washing machine, washing up liquid, lots of pots, pans, utensils (including for the braai), condiments (salt, pepper etc), and even shower gel / shampoo and conditioner - basically meaning all your essentials are taken care of so you can relax when you arrive and you don't need to buy things you would hardly use. We statyed in Ou Huis which was very spacious for two, and very good value for money. We didn't mind paying the supplement for wifi - it was not excessive. It was so peaceful and we hardly saw other guests - it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The braai area and garden is very private, with a nice view. The only improvement I would suggest is to warn guests about the razor wire on the access gate - it's just at head height if you are tall and you need to take care not to catch youself on it! Overall, can highly recommend this place as a base for staying in the northern Cederberg.

Klein Boschkloof is a working citrus farm so our Cape Dutch cottage … a converted wagon house … is surrounded by orange trees. There is a profusion of grape arbours, heavy with fruit and we are to discover that other produce from the farm appears free of charge in the cottage: today, a supply of grenadillas.
They have done a splendid job of renovating the 250 year old building, using original beams and wood wherever possible and keeping the white-washed, thatched exteriors. The walls are 1/2 metre thick and windows are small to keep out the blazing summer heat. Inside, the cottage is well-equipped and tastefully decorated. With the small but oh-so-inviting pool, this is definitely a find!

Loved the position outside of Clanwilliam. A beautiful drive in.
Divine orange trees.
Guesthouse owner did not meet us with a mask, and never attempted to put one on. In this time, middle of Covid, that is NOT okay. She also had no clue about social distancing.
On the other hand, the housekeepers were fantastic. They were all masked and friendly. A place that insists the housekeepers are masked, but the owner herself is not masked, left me a little uncomfortable.
One of our party was in a wheelchair and had been given the more wheelchair friendly room. It is not overly wheelchair friendly.
I would only suggest this place for the position which is stunning and for the orange trees. It is remote and definitely private and well equipped for self catering though.
There are two huge dogs on the property which is great if you like huge dogs, and they are very gentle, but not great if you don't like big dogs!
So, a mixed review!

we stayed two nights at Boschkloof chalets. 4 star rating, but no free Wifi, Aircon remote to be paid for, and some too many "DO NOT" in the booklet.
We enjoyed the stay overall, but were a bit disappointed. The main room and all furniture got the small from the fire place. that was the reason we refused to use the fireplace although cold in the night.

We had the pleasure of staying at Klein Boschkloof Chalets in October. It is an oasis in the Cederberg. Having visited the Cederberg area before this has been the best place I have stayed at.The facilities at Klein Boschkloof Chalets are fantastic. It is well worth it,s 4 star rating. The owners we very helpfull and friendly. We visited the nearby historical Sevilla Rock Art Trail.

comfortable old Cape-style accommodation, well worth a stay over 2 nights to enjoy the surroundings and relax. No cell phone reception, just be aware of this. Water is discolored so take drinking water if that bothers you!

We stayed one night in Waenhuis 1.
Although very neat and chic, historical place,I wonder why places advertise as "full self catering", when that is not the case!
Quite surroundings on a working farm.
For a four star rating I would accept in todays standards that wifi would be available if there is no cell phone reception.
Water is discoloured and no airconditioning remote available in the room.
Communal braai and dishwashing facilities.

On the R37 coming down into Clanwilliam is a turnoff to a high road that overlooks the town (good quality gravel). About 7km along is Kleinboschkloof, a working citrus farm, with guest houses among the orchard trees. These are old, very solid and beautifully restored cottages. Large living room with flat TV and separate bedroom and kitchen areas; bathroom with excellent amenities and products; filter coffee in the kitchen plus fresh orchard fruit; very comfortable bed. Remote and quiet location, but convenient to Clanwilliam. One of the best quality/value properties we came across on this trip: $70 for a whole elegant cottage. Glad to stay out of Clanwilliam, which is a bit busy and not very quaint.

We stayed two nights in Wainhuis 1 and thoroughly enjoyed the lovely setting, the peace, and the comfort of Klein Boschklooof.
We had the flexibility of cooking for ourselves or using the braai. Eleanore's breakfast was also excellent and gave us a great start to the day.
Sitting out in the evening under the orange trees with a glass of wine, smelling the fabulous smell of orange blossom was outstanding. A great place to explore the Cedarberg from.
