We were on a trip to see the flowers and we unfortunately booked only one night in Clanwilliam.
NDEDEMA was an excellent choice and we enjoyed every minute there. The room was beautuifully furnished, the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower should serve as a National Standard for pressure, temperature and shower experience. Breakfast was excellent and my wife's poached eggs were perfect and as ordered. Personal service was excellent however in the evening after our return from dinner we were caught by load shedding and we had to search for matches (which we finally found in the office) to light our candles in the room. Luckily there was a headband LED light provided in the room to assist us in our search for matches. The owner was caught unawares and undertook remedial action after our departure. All in all a very nice B&B, worth every penny and we certainly will recommend NDEDEMA strongly to our friends and family. There was however disappointment with a nearby restaurant which was recommended by Enid as our food was definitely not delicious nor tasty, nor was there any trace of "THERMIDOR" with one of their
Hake dishes. But this did not detract us from having absolutely enjoyed our stay.
Enid also directed us to a place where we could experience the flowers and as expected-they were beautiful and exceeded our expectations (The Bidouw Valley).

We have just returned home after spending a wonderful few nights at the charming Ndedema Lodge. Our hosts, Peet and Enid were great and we will definitely be back. Shortly after we arrived there was no power in the whole of Clanwilliam and the heat was unbearable. We battled to sleep but Enid had brought us jugs of ice earlier in the evening and although breakfast ends at 10am my husband and I ate late and never felt rushed. We relaxed totally and loved our 'room no 1' which has a king size bed and very spacious bathroom and plenty of cupboards and packing space. I enjoyed the little pool and exploring the magnificent garden full of fruit trees some of which I have never seen before. Mango trees heavy with fruit, avocado trees, lemons, bay, grapevines and lots more. You are also permitted to pick fruit that is ripe for your enjoyment. Arriving back after dinner we loved the sound of the frogs coming from the koi pond. I seriously have never seen koi fish that size, they are massive! The guesthouse is spotless and full of interesting antique furniture and art. Also Annie who is front of house deserves a special mention and thanks. She looked after us in the breakfast area and for our overall stay. : )

Peet and Enid are great hosts, but more importantly, they are extremely knowledgeable about the whole area. We were particularly pleased to take their advice on where to go to enjoy some breathtaking views of the flowers. Without that advice, we would have missed out on one of nature's most spectacular shows.

This review is relatively objective as I have been undertaking extensive road trips for the past 13 years, with a 2 year Covid induced hiatus.

I stayed (solo) for 3 nights in late January/early February.

Easily found in Clanwilliam on the edge of town.

Secure car parking.

Due to a communication breakdown no one to meet me, but a quick phone call resolved that issue. The admin is conducted off site, with a very pleasant Peet and Enid on hand at the house.

Lovely old building with thick walls and high ceilings. Even in 43 degree day time temperatures the internal rooms were relatively cool. Wonderful original floor boards etc.

My bedroom was spacious, well equipped, clean and comfortable. Loved the safe deposit box, which was a small old school stand alone safe bolted to the floor with the door opening upwards. Only down side was that the overhead fan was noisy - quickly rectified by Peet supplying a portable modern fan. Aircon was quiet and efficient. Ice was provided on request.

Bathroom was spacious, clean and well equipped. Good shower pressure.

Large gardens with shade to relax in after a busy day - excellent breakfast served on the patio. Decent sized pool. Front stoop perfect for an ABF beer with Peet in the evening.

A short walk or drive into town for dining options.

It is the last house on a side road leaving the town. So you need to drive for 3 mins to get to the centre. We preferred the quiet location with weavers and a koi pond. The home and accommodation was top and there is interesting art and furniture to complement a personalised home. Great breakfast. Good security. They booked us into a stunning restaurant that evening - Cederberg Ridge. $$

This was our second stay at Ndedema Lodge. We came back again because we enjoyed our stay so much the first time. We weren’t disappointed the second time! Enid and Peet are such friendly and engaging hosts. They gave us invaluable tips for our travels around and about about the region, connected us with a great local guide and also pinpointed on a map their recommended route to follow when looking for the wild flowers.

I don’t have enough words to describe the amazing love received from such awesome hosts. Why can’t all hosts be like you guys??? I cannot find fault at all. So accommodating to load shedding, us being late due to unforeseen circumstances and meals. The gardens are beautiful and so clean. I want to sit at the fish pond and the pool and the flowers and the fruits all at once! Electric blankets and heater was so welcoming for an icy winters night. Such an old world charm for anybody appreciating hidden treasures like this. Laid back and again never have I ever felt such genuine love from hosts for guests. I would recommend this place to anybody.

What a little gem - this is a lovely place to stay. The facilities were marvellous and the breakfast was brilliant. There are nice restaurants in Clanwilliam with plenty of places to visit and explore in the area - do not miss a visit to Ramskop. Thank you.

We were a bunch of tired motor bike travelers. Upon our arrival, nothing was too much to ask for. Our rooms were incredibly spacious, with perfect linen. The sparkling pool was an added bonus with the use of house towels. A perfect breakfast was laid on for us in the morning. Will definitely stay at Ndedema Lodge again when visiting Clan William.
