The Queen is every bit a 4 Star accommodation. The spacious rooms were spotlessly clean as were the en-suite shower bathrooms, showing excellent maintenance. King Beds were comfortable and the luxury cotton percale bedding made for a great night's sleep. In Autumn the down duvet kept us comfortably warm but extra blankets were available as was the heating and cooling air conditioner, although plenty of fresh Karoo air was available by opening the windows. Refreshments are provided in the rooms and a bar fridge is provided.
The breakfasts provided a great start to the day, with personalized service; eggs perfectly cooked to your choice and a sumptuous fry up or health breakfast or both as you like.
The Queen is well situated for all of Calitzdorp attractions in easy walking distance including the 3 main wine cellars and restaurants. Secure parking behind an electric gate is provided. We enjoyed our weekend stay and could not fault anything. Staff are professional but genuinely friendly at the same time. The Queen is highly recommended

Dear Dennis, Thank you very much for your wonderful review. I read it to the rest of the team and they are well pleased with the way you provided so much detail. It was an absolute treat hosting your group and we hope to see you all again next year (if not sooner). Kind regards, Leanne

Thank you Queen of Calitzdorp for a most comfortable stay. We brought six very tired and hot cyclists, and you didn't bat an eye when they just fell into the swimming pool. We really appreciated safe storage for the MTB's, facilities for watermelon and takeaway dinner setup the evening, as well as getting ready for an earlier breakfast to accommodate the riders. The rooms were really comfortable and can I just mention...great, firm mattress, god quality cushions, fantastic showerhead with good water pressure! :-D

We stayed at The Queen of Calitzdorp for one night on the way to Knysna. Our superior room was a decent size, with a large bathroom, but the furnishings were a little basic - more three star than four star by UK standards. We were actually the only guests, so the place was strangely quiet once reception had closed at 7 pm. The hotel has its own generator, so air-con worked throughout the night despite stage 6 load-shedding. Breakfast was excellent and served in a pleasant area outside. Other facilities included a decent pool and a lounge next to reception that wasn't exactly conducive to being used. Staff were delightful.

We booked telephonically ( big mistake) and arrived to a reasonable reception. On booking we were asked if we needed WIFI in the bedroom - to which we replied YES. At the Queen we found Wifi only available in the lounge / reception area which to our dismay was LOCKED at 6pm. So we had to sit on the bare (wet from rain) verandah floor of main building. The price we paid was far TOO HIGH for what was available. This establishment will not get my recommendation. I am willing to provide photographic proof

The room with a king double is very comfortable with a nice veranda overlooking a vineyard. Wi-fi not available in the bedroom but we could access it in the living room.
The bedside lights are pretty but not good for reading .

We stayed here for one night with our son, daughter and grandson aged 22 months. The hotel is close to everything you would need in Calitzdorp and also has a swimming pool which our grandson loved. The hostess was so nice and friendly and kind. Grandson is allergic to dairy so she offered to send someone to the store to get him oat milk. Nothing was too much! And the two cats became firm favourites. We will stay here again and recommend to our friends.

Every details thought of, lovely water pressure. Comfortable bed. Wonderful outside loungers.. perfect home away from home. We can highly recommend this place for an overnight stop, as the area itself is really quiet and not much happening.

Off the beaten track (although perfect for us), we were impressed. The room was clean and spacious and the aircon worked well. Breakfast was excellent; well cooked (the scrambled egg in particular - a useful litmus test), with great service. Good value too.

The pool wasn't the biggest, but we did not use that so it would be unfair to add any more than a comment on it.

We'll use you again.

Don’t dismiss Calitizdorp as just a quick drive-through in the middle of the Little Karoo. It’s a lovely town and the Queen of Calitzdorp hotel is one of its jewels. We had a lovely few days there and explored the region including some of the great wine farms in the area. The hotel hosts were welcoming and friendly. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful view over the neighboring vineyards and out towards the mountains in the distance. The breakfasts were tasty and served quickly after ordering. We will definitely be back if the opportunity arises and can recommend the Queen to anyone wanting to stop over in Calitzdorp.

The Queens of Calitzdorp truly is that - it’s a lovely place to stay, with excellent rooms and a lovely breakfast. The service is good and the dining and seating areas very pleasant - as is the pool and poolside area. Calitzdorp itself is handy both for local visits and contains the BoPlaas distillery, just around the corner from the Queen. Highly recommended.
