#11 of 22 Speciality lodging in Calitzdorp
Strooi Kooi, two unique straw bale cottages, are perfectly positioned on the edge of the farm's vineyards with spectacular views over the surrounding farms and Swartberg mountains directly from the comfort of your bed. Both cottages building techniques, finishes and facilities are eco friendly yet the interiors are stylish and comfortable, the perfect way to experience the beauty of the Klein Karoo.

Somewhere far from the main road, there is small place called Strooi Kooi, and what a Kooi it is! Amazing, quit, fantastic view, braai, outside shower (on the room we reserved) ... thank god that we decided to do some quick braai shopping. Because once we docked inn, we did not move anymore. Just enjoyed the place ... it has been a long time ago that I experienced this peace by/through the surroundings. Amazing!

Strooi Kooi is special - it is simply but beautifully decorated in a beautiful setting on the edge of the vineyards. The owners are very friendly and helpful and Genevieve the dog was charming. Calitzdorp is quiet and charming.

As a keen "green" sustainability enthusiast, I was not sure what to expect at StrooiKooi. Well, I was bowled over by the attention to compfort whilst retaining the basic components of "green" living in the form of straw bale walls ......there is even a section in the wall to show visitors what the bales actually look like inside the walls. The spot where StrooiKooi is situated next to vineyards away from the main road, privides for a very relaxing stay. StrooiKooi is an ideal getaway if you enjoy tasty , yet simplistic comfortable living at the foot of the majestic Swartberg mountains. I will return!

Absolutely love the accommodation. Zelma our host has decorated it beautifully in a rustic chic style. Big comfortable beds with white crisp linen, day beds outside for afternoon naps in the sun, views of sultana vineyards from our bed. Wish we could stay longer
