Warmwaterberg Spa is a hot mineral spring situated between Barrydale and Ladismith on the R62 from Cape Town to Oudtshoorn. The spa offers self catering accommodation in old farm house buildings dating back to the 19th century, timber chalets sleeping 4 – 8 persons and some parked caravans. The kiosk is stocked with basic provisions and the bottle store stocks local wines. The Lapa has a restaurant offering country fare and a bar. There are three outdoor pools, two hot and one cold. The temperature in the pools varies from 25 to 42 degrees C. For those who would like to explore the vast outdoors, there is a hiking trail on the property as well as drives to nearby mountains and town. Here we offer you country hospitality at a slow pace, tranquility, wide open spaces and steaming hot water to restore body, mind and soul.
Surprisingly hot water pools, feels great in winter. The chalets are wooden, compact with microwave, electric stove and bathroom. Pretty cold inside as there were no heaters just those thick blankets only. If you do not close all windows and doors, it could be severely cold in the night. The area surrounding is beautiful with the famous Ronnie’s Sex Shop (I don’t know why it’s famous for, may be the word ‘sex’ added to its name, probably!) just across the road. Unfortunately they do not provide towels and you can’t buy it from there but I would still give them a high rating. Magda was really helpful though I didn’t meet her.

Sadly our stay was cut short due to illness but it was a great place to unwind. Very friendly staff, good Karoo kos in the restaurant. Our 2 bedroom rustic chalet was very clean and had everything needed for a self catering stay. The pools were lovely and not too busy. The only downside was the tree next to our chalet which was a peacock apartment with many very noisy residents. There are A LOT of peacocks 🦚 So next time I'll take earplugs and pegs.

We spent 2 nights but wished it was only one. We were looking forward to using the huge bath in our room but didn't manage to get more than tepid water even though we ran the taps for 30 minutes. There was no soap, no coffee plunger, and even though it was load-shedding several times a day no candles or matches in our room. The accommodation was not private as described (Studio Bath House).

Stopped here for lunch and to use hot water pools for afternoon. 100 rand per person to use pools for the day. Very quiet with only 4 other people in pools. No one else in restaurant… toasties/wraps nice and served despite a load shedding episode just after we ordered. Pool amazingly warm, very nice dip for an hour. Overall a basic rustic establishment… felt like away from it all and got to enjoy natural hot water spa

We booked for two nights, but left after one (without a refund), here is why: The pictures are not an accurate representation of what you get. We stayed in the main house, the bathroom and kitchenette is separate from your very small bedroom, you need to walk across a shared passage - so not very private. the bed is very hard, I found everything very old and dilapidated. The bedroom is very cold, with no heaters, and a very thin duvet (however extra blankets are provided). You need to buy tokens to access the wifi (and signal is quite bad). You need to pay a deposit for towels and bedroom keys? Doesn’t even have handsoap in the bathrooms. It feels more like a backpackers. And you can hear other guests come and go in the shared passage because of the old wooden floors. Such a pity I didn’t read trip advisor before booking. We booked for two nights but left after one night, reception said they could not refund me, and advised I email the manager. I did email the manager to request a refund, but did not get a response.…

My partner and I visited the Spa the weekend of 15 to 17 July 2022. We stayed in one of the chalets that have its own spa bath. We rode on our bikes through the beautiful Karoo Landscapes between Montague and Barrydale via the back gravel roads. After reading some very negative comments on trip advisor I was a little skeptical. The only negative I found was the little smoke smell when we opened our chalet. That was because of a lovely fireplace. We really enjoyed our stay. The food was good and the staff were friendly! The views were magnificent and we really enjoyed our personal deep spa bath in our own room! We had a lekker chuckle when we thought our room does not have its own bathroom but soon discovered a very interesting galvanized water tank for the toilet and basin and another one for the shower. We walked the some 6.5km path and was taken away by the beautiful views. If you need your own privacy, choose one of these lovely units.…

We stayed in the main house, which gives you very little privacy as the loud neighbours' door is just next to your bedroom door. Every footstep can be heard and doors opening and closing is loud and not for someone who wants to rest. Bath tub is a long corridor walk pass other guests' rooms. Main house stoep is just outside your bedroom and also the place where smokers' smoke, leaving their smoke travelling into your bedroom. The restaurant was completely understaffed on sunday morning and we had to leave, as we were informed that there is one lady manning the kitchen and it would have taken 30 minutes to order a coffee. So we left without any breakfast as there was loadshedding the whole morning and we had to check out at 10am. The pools are just great and overall if you dont mind all of the above and would just like to lie in the pool all weekend long and experience the silence and clean air of the Karoo , it would be a good experience. Unfortunately their generators are loud and were on most of the time due to loadshedding, with no dampers on. Kitchen facilities are very basic and needs more plugs and 2 points for charging phones. Beds and clean and mattresses ok. Main house atmospjere more like an old fashioned backpackers. Take candles and matches as none is supplied for load shedding.…

We were on the camping, non-electric sites. Some sites are on a bit of a slope, so be prepared for that. The view from these sites are unbelievable. The Roman baths are a hot 43deg C, while the pools are a cooler 35. The main pool closes from 10pm till 6am. There is a cold pool as well. The ablutions are clean The bar is smallish, but cheap

Lovely stay. The receptionist went out of thier way to accommodate us coming in late. The apartment was neat and well kept, loved the rustic bathrooms! We would have loved to have stayed longer. It was very relaxing!

We stayed in 2 of the wooden cabins. Cabins are in desperate need of maintenance and were filthy. For the accommodation and camping rates, the entire resort must be upgraded. Would not be recommended.
