Warmwaterberg Spa is a hot mineral spring situated between Barrydale and Ladismith on the R62 from Cape Town to Oudtshoorn. The spa offers self catering accommodation in old farm house buildings dating back to the 19th century, timber chalets sleeping 4 – 8 persons and some parked caravans. The kiosk is stocked with basic provisions and the bottle store stocks local wines. The Lapa has a restaurant offering country fare and a bar. There are three outdoor pools, two hot and one cold. The temperature in the pools varies from 25 to 42 degrees C. For those who would like to explore the vast outdoors, there is a hiking trail on the property as well as drives to nearby mountains and town. Here we offer you country hospitality at a slow pace, tranquility, wide open spaces and steaming hot water to restore body, mind and soul.

We stayed in the main house, which gives you very little privacy as the loud neighbours' door is just next to your bedroom door. Every footstep can be heard and doors opening and closing is loud and not for someone who wants to rest. Bath tub is a long corridor walk pass other guests' rooms. Main house stoep is just outside your bedroom and also the place where smokers' smoke, leaving their smoke travelling into your bedroom. The restaurant was completely understaffed on sunday morning and we had to leave, as we were informed that there is one lady manning the kitchen and it would have taken 30 minutes to order a coffee. So we left without any breakfast as there was loadshedding the whole morning and we had to check out at 10am. The pools are just great and overall if you dont mind all of the above and would just like to lie in the pool all weekend long and experience the silence and clean air of the Karoo , it would be a good experience. Unfortunately their generators are loud and were on most of the time due to loadshedding, with no dampers on. Kitchen facilities are very basic and needs more plugs and 2 points for charging phones. Beds and clean and mattresses ok. Main house atmospjere more like an old fashioned backpackers. Take candles and matches as none is supplied for load shedding.

We were on the camping, non-electric sites. Some sites are on a bit of a slope, so be prepared for that. The view from these sites are unbelievable. The Roman baths are a hot 43deg C, while the pools are a cooler 35. The main pool closes from 10pm till 6am. There is a cold pool as well. The ablutions are clean The bar is smallish, but cheap

Lovely stay. The receptionist went out of thier way to accommodate us coming in late. The apartment was neat and well kept, loved the rustic bathrooms! We would have loved to have stayed longer. It was very relaxing!

We stayed in 2 of the wooden cabins. Cabins are in desperate need of maintenance and were filthy. For the accommodation and camping rates, the entire resort must be upgraded. Would not be recommended.

"to fail to excite, stimulate, or impress: " The website does not project an accurate picture of reality. This place really needs a make over. We took one of those cabins as this was apparently all that was available. It was extremely basic and frankly grotty. Its expensive, with no value adds. It's the Karoo -its winter when temps can go down to 3 deg, yet no heaters of any kind. We took a swim in the pools (why are they so small?) and immediately left. Stick to The Baths or Caledon for a better and more memorable experience Disappointed !

A dirty resort. The cottage surround was littered with cigarette butts, pieces of glass, discarded ear buds and general refuse. Building materials are piled in places on the verges of the property. Warm water is from the hot spring. It's too cold for showering or bathing and dish washing. Prices are very high for the frugal accommodation on offer.

The has a lot to offer like spacious grassed sites, on site licensed restautant offering delicious traditional fare like bobotie and lamb pie. Very nice view from the restaurants veranda. The ablutions were clean but can be modernised with a few easy fixes. All staff were super friendly. We enjoyed the unpretencious old school charm of the resort.. value for money

Always a favorite of mine. Great getaway. In the middle of nowehere with the karoo-like fields and vastness all around you. The pools are excellent as always. A few noisy people were allowed to be obnoxiously loud during most of one of the nights, despite clear rules. A bit more enforcing of the rules would be great. Also very nice to be greeted every morning hy the caretaker for smalltalk

This place isn't a 5 star spa or hotel, it is very remote and rather basic. However, it accommodates mainly locals (as opposed to other spas in the area) and has everything you need for a few hours relaxing amongst amazing landscapes and hot springs. Everything is spotless clean, everyone is friendly and i would definitely recommend enjoying the hot springs under the stars, it's a priceless experience!
