A cosy, self-catering country getaway in the heart of Dullstroom featuring 4 rustic stone cottages decorated with a touch of luxury. We are situated in a quiet area which is a 5 minute walk from the center of town and accessible by tarred roads. The property has lovely gardens, with tall blue gum trees and the surrounding hills can be viewed from the fire-pit/boma area. Each unit features a patio with BBQ and seating, indoor fireplace (stocked with complimentary wood and firelighter), kitchenette, TV, top quality linens, electric blankets, robes and toiletries. The self contained 2 bedroom Klip-cottage has a large well-equipped kitchen (including coffee percolator, oven, washing machine and dryer) lounge, dining area, bath tub and full length patio with built-in undercover BBQ. Although Kliphuisjes has no reception area, owners reside close by and will welcome guests on arrival with keys. Please note this establishment is self-catering and no breakfast provided. Pet friendly on request

These beautiful stone cottages are wonderful to stay in, even for just one night. Very comfortable and well-equipped. As we had a cold rainy evening it was great to have firewood supplied and the fire warmed the whole cottage - especially good as we had load-shedding as well!

Great Location and very close to everything in Dullstroom. Really lovely little cottage we stayed in. It had everything we needed. I would recommend this to any couple wanting a getaway for a few days.

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at the Stargazer cottage. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the cottage had all that we needed. The soft gowns, fireplace and DSTV certainly made for cozy evenings. Kliphuisjes is located centrally in Dullstroom, but we found it is far enough from the main road to be quiet, particularly our cottage which is located at the back of the property. The "kitchen in a cupboard" is great for preparing breakfasts and small/light meals, but if you want to do major cooking one of the other cottages would probably be more suitable. Stargazer does have a braai though. Security was good: Burglar bars on the windows and armed response (nice for Jo'burgers like us who feel safer with such features). The path leading to Stargazer is a little uneven, so for those with mobility issues it might be better to consider one of their other cottages. All in all a wonderful experience and we plan to return!

Thank you Nicole, I appreciate you taking the time to post a review and we look forward to welcoming you back next time. While the Kitchen-in-a-Cupboard is great for weekend getaways, if you are planning to stay longer I recommend either one of our two-bedroom units (Klip-Cottage or The Cabin) which have a fully equipped kitchen as well as the braai on the veranda. Kind regards Andrew

We booked Kliphuisjes for in 15th out 19th October. Before I booked, I called and spoke to Michelle, the Manager, asking her if there is WiFi, which there is and also that my daughter was finishing off her Honours and we needed peace and tranquility, which Michelle assured me there was as they were 2 blocks away from the main road. So, we booked. When we arrived we were not happy. The accommodation is right on a 3 way stop street and the traffic and noise was horrendous. Taxis with music blaring and cars up and down constantly. We soon realised within an hour of arriving that we couldn't stay here and my daughter would never get her work done. We contacted Michelle who couldn't make a decision and said she would get hold of the owner Andrew who was in Joburg. Needless to say, for the next few hours we got no further assistance until I emailed Andrew directly. Andrew was not very understanding nor helpful in fact extremely rude and said there would be no refund. I even asked if we gave notice on Friday can we be refunded for the 3rd night at least. He point-black refused to give us any of our money back. We stayed 1 night and left at 10am on Saturday 16th October. When booking it says no prepayment required that we would pay at the property during our stay. We intended to pay cash but our full payment of R6600 was debited on our card which was just to hold the booking on Thursday night, before we even arrived! this is not what we were informed on your website. Another thing to note is that if you have kids there is a dirty and unkempt dam right in front of the cabin with a section of walkway that has no rail whatsoever, this is completely unsafe for young children. Also, there is an alarm in the unit but no one bothered to give the alarm code to us. Must say didn’t feel very safe during our 1 night at the property. One positive is the unit is very clean and well equipped inside. This is not a place I would recommend booking.

Kliphuisjes is an upmarket, self-catering pet-friendly guesthouse, that is professionally run by our friendly manager Michelle, with a compliment of housekeeping ladies and a full time gardener, that make a great team ensuring that all the guests needs are taken care of and that we maintain our average rating of 9.2 from over 300 reviews, so thank you Petra for the positive part of your rating. Kliphuisjes is in many ways ideally situated in Dullstroom, a check on Google maps will confirm that is far enough from the main road not to have a problem with traffic or noise, but close enough to be in walking distance of the shops and restaurants. A good tar road takes you all the way to the front gate and you can walk your dogs or cycle out the back gate straight into the countryside down to the municipal dam and nature reserve. We are on a hill, with great views of the hills and lovely country side surrounding the town which guest can enjoy with their braai from their individual verandas or shelter inside around the fireplace from the winter frosts or summer mists. All of which combines to give our guests an experience of a both a peaceful, safe rural town and the quiet of the countryside. As I sat this morning drinking coffee in the warm sun on my veranda looking out over the dam to the park across the road where we often spot the shy duiker in the early morning or returning late at night, I noticed that the new shoots of the reeds popping through the water surface after their winter hiatus as well as the water lilies and yes there was a car that passed in the first minute, but it was another 5 minutes before 3 more came by which is the norm for a small town as the residents and guest go about their business. In between, the only noise was that of the breeze rustling the leaves of our grove of Blue Gums, birds chirping and some passing visitors chatting as they walked or jogged along the road.

We had a wonderful stay and the house was wonderful, setting was great too - quiet and private even though other house near. Unfortunately, even though there is a Jojo tank on the property, when there was no water in the town, there was also no water at the house...
