The Red Barn is a country wedding venue and guest farm set in the soft rolling hills of the Highlands near Dullstroom, Mpumalanga. Easily accessible with a quick car trip from either Gauteng or the Lowveld, Dullstroom is a favourite stop over and destination for many travellers looking for a peaceful break away. Owner run by married couple, John & Claire, The Red Barn is the heart of a dream to swap the big city for a simpler country life. The business started when the Watsons moved to the farm in January 2011. They built a venue and guest homes that would be easy, relaxed and sit beautifully in the rolling hills and highland countryside that they had fallen in love with themselves. From special farm weddings, both large and small, to little country breaks for families and friends in the self-catering cottages, it’s the prefect farm setting to relax, reconnect and enjoy the quiet and peaceful countryside.

This pet friendly accommodation option is a wonderful and peaceful stay. Lots of privacy and tranquility. Clair is so friendly and we enjoyed walking on the farm. With game-viewing from the porch. Our two English Bulldogs were welcomed and enjoyed the ponds on the farm. The outside wedding venue is so beautiful and we took a lot of nice photos there. Although there is another house on the premises we still had complete privacy with only nature's music to be heard. The Dairy Cottage is absolutely lovely with everything you need. Kitchen is well equipped and spacious. We will be back very soon.

The Red Barn was the highlight of our tour through Mpumalanga. We were only planning on staying one night but this place was so awesome that we stayed longer. The host is friendly and we will definitely stay there again.

The Red Barn is on a situated on a quiet farm a short drive from Dullstroom. Conveniently situated near the main road, it makes it possible for non 4x4 to get there in one piece. The secure farm area has all the units well spaced so that everyone enjoys their own space in total piece and quiet. We stayed in The Homestead which is a well appointed house that can sleep 8 people very comfortably. The Homestead is great for large families with enough space to have a great break away. There is enough to keep yourselves busy in the area, and also enough space if you just need to relax. Dams on the property make it attractive to the fisherman in the family, With the owner John's tips we were able to catch a few fish. With it being a pet friendly stay the whole family was able to enjoy this well kept farm. Plenty of space for long walks, in and around the farm. Highly recommended.

We had a friends wedding at The Red Barn and stayed at the Homestead for the weekend. Great accommodation. Great scenery. Awesome wedding venue. Claire was even so kind to help me when I had forgotten items at the house. Thank you!

We stayed at the Homestead over the Christmas period with family. The house is big and spacious as well as wheelchair friendly. John Watson, owner, went out of his way to assist in all our requests and then some more. It is quite nice when you wake up in the morning with guests on the front lawn, blou and golden wildebeest or even a few Njalas. Nice and relaxing break away for the busy city dwellers in nice country elegance. The second time we have been guests at The Red Barn but not the last.
