We have known Critchley Hackle for a long time as we lived in Johannesburg and quite often toured the Dullstoom region. When we booked the hotel (lodge would be more adequate a term) we were full of expectations. Alas the sojourn fell short of expectations. Whilst the room was comfortable only half the lights worked in the bathroom and the...

This is a beautiful venue, vey relaxing and romantic with trees surrounding the hotel and dam(I would rather call it a small lake, because that is what it looks like to me). The wild and domesticated ducks that wonder in the gardens and swim on the lake also gives the place that special feeling. Has a beautiful restaurant that looks...

What a disappointment.... We visited here many years ago and were looking forward to spending our anniversary weekend here. Our room, once they got the correct one sorted, was fine - spacious and decently decorated although needed a refurb. The whole of Dullstroom was hit by a storm in the course of the evening and on returning to the hotel...

I have been to this hotel 20 yrs ago, and with very fond memories tried to book there again. But boy is it difficult!. The managers cellphone number is listed on the website which I thought was a plus point. But that is were the trouble started so no way the staff under him will be any better. Telephoned him...

Rooms at Critchley Hackle are prettily decorated and comfortable. Loved the fireplace in the lounge part which had to be lit even in January. Very relaxing sitting on the little veranda overlooking the dam. Very easy to walk into town. Found it quite strange that such a good hotel does not have a cappuccino machine. Surely in this day and...

We were two families with children. We had one family room and two rooms adjacent. The rooms were very spacious with a great view of the lake. They are nicely decorated in a rustic style. The bathroom is big with shower and big bath tub. We had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. The food was very good but...

My husband and self had a two night getaway to Dullstroom. Stayed at Critchley Hackle. Very comfortable, would be extra special in Winter with log fires. Very accessible to town. Jack in the restaurant was special.

Recently visited the Critchly and spent a really relaxing weekend there. The hotel has on Old School feel to it, laid back. The rooms all have a great view of the lake around which the hotel is located and although slightly worn they have a homely feeling. The restaurant served up a really good meal, dominated of course by the...

A beautiful venue however I think the place needs a revamp. The decor is old and dreary and lacking some energy. The staff were very friendly and service orientated. Food was good . Rooms were clean and comfortable but I do think a fresher decor is required .

The restaurant at this boutique hotel in in the seriously upper class. Superbly presented delicious food, with an interestingly different wine list. The hotel is set around a trout dam, right in the village - and has units for private ownership. Fantastic
