We decided to stay here overnight rather than drive to Ponta d'Ouro in one go. The rooms and their surrounds are first class and very well kept. Next time we plan to arrive in the afternoon so that we can make use of the swimming pool.

I would have given Kwa Lala 5 stars but didn't because I felt that the shower needs a little attention. The shower rose was in need of replacement and the grout between the tiles hasn't seen a deep clean in a long time. It wasn't so bad that I didn't want to use the shower, but compared to the high standards everywhere else on the property, this stood out.

Kwa Lala is the jewel of Pongola. I stayed there for 2 weeks in September 2014. It was a home away from home. Susan and Leon are excellent hosts. They are most accommodating. Susan's meals are 5 star cuisine. Susan also has a beautiful orchid garden. I highly recommend staying at Kwa Lala if you visit Pongola.

I regret the day I went to stay at Kwa Lala due to bad attitude from staff and the manager. I book to sleep only one night from what it seems to a food experience turned to be a bad one. When I woke the following day without realising it's that time of the month. It happened that I messed the bed linen a bit. To my surprise the three staff members where on my case to wash the linens or pay R200 for them. I asked to speak to the manager and she was not there but they called her. She was so ride that she ordered me to pay if I'm not interested in washing the linens and when I asked her if it's their policy and she never even cared enough to answer that but to order me to wash those linens. I was never humiliated and violated in my life. I've been around the world slept in many places and it's not the 1st time happening which I was never told to wash the bed linen but in that hotel was told not to stress these things happen. I will never recommend people to go there but to discourage them from sleeping there. I didn't understand why did they go into such a business if they can't expect things like that and won't be able to handle it. And the manager including her staff, I think they need customer service training in dealing with customers and such things and not order your customers to wash their bed linens or they are not ready to run this kind of a business.

We make use of Kwa Lala to sleep over on our way to St Lucia. The rooms is excellent, very clean and comfortable. Susan and Leon are very friendly and helpful people. The breakfast was outstanding ! The taxi rank was a bit noisy with the loud bass music playing, but luckily it stopped after dark. Will make use of them again.

We spent 3 nights at Kwa Lala, using it as a base for visits to Ithala National Park and Pongola Nature Reserve. Kwa Lala far exceeded our expectations, the rooms were very comfortable and clean but what made our stay so special was the very warm hospitality of the hosts, Susan and Leon, and the five star breakfasts and dinners prepared by Suan with real flare and originality making a wonderful visual and taste delight. We highly recommend Kwa Lala either as a stop over or as a base for the area which has many attractions.

This place is one of the top in KZN. I never expected to see such a neat and well maintained place in such a busy location. Thumbs up to the manager and his staff they know how to treat people, even the kitchen staff is well trained on hospitality.

The rooms are beautiful and big and the overall decor of the place was very welcoming and gave a feeling of north Africa / France. Nice big rooms, clean and comfortable bed and pillows and a well stocked mini bar. Service was excellent and both dinner and breakfast was a treat!
