Rock lodge was all around amazing, we cannot say enough good things about it! We went for our honeymoon and they made sure it was extra special. Our guide Lucky and our tracker could literally find everything, we saw the Big 5 on our first 2 drives. Chef was simply perfection, all of her food was some of the best we have ever had and Ndu was always on top of everything and providing things before we even had to ask. Anchen, the lodge manager, went above and beyond (literally) everything we ever expected. Highly recommend rock lodge to anyone visiting, especially couples who prefer a more intimate setting.

My first safari and writing this after spending time at my second. A fantastic experience, Holly and Mandla were fantastic showing us the full reserve. We saw all the big 5 and lots of other animals. Catching a massive male rhino and making him do a u turn, watching 3 lions on the airstrip and listening to a hippo symphony all great highlights, the rooms are intimate, the service and meals were excellent, especially lunch. animals hovering round the back of your lodge unforgettable. Really enjoyable. My thanks to all at the resort.

Went for a few nights to celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary. The lodge was wonderful and exclusive. Our guides were excellent. Lucky was probably one of the most receptive guides I have been with. The food and service at the lodge was top notch too

Very good time at this, our fifth safari we've been on in South Africa and Botswana. Phinda (pronounced "Pinda) Rock Lodge is relatively small, which makes it more cozy and produces some of the reviews regarding smallness. We prefer smaller and quieter, although this results in somewhat less in food etc offerings. This is a notch below Lion Sands and some larger safari lodges, but it made up for with the closeness and coziness. The dining was very good and the night we had our rooftop dinner was wonderfully romantic. Our suite was very nice. Game drives were excellent with lots to see. We did not do any added trips or beach excursions, but heard the Zulu village was interesting and fun. We did not take our Malarone, tho we saw one mosquito early in our trip (November) and this is a borderline area so beware; afterwards, the one of us who is a regular mosquito victim used spray. Reading the negative views, they're excessively harsh. This is an enjoyable safari lodge in which to stay with very nice staff, trackers, and rangers.

We enjoyed a splendid couple of nights at Phinda Rock lodge. The lodge itself is superb, the setting sublime, the decor is classic and the rooms are amazing each with their own plunge pool, bar indoor and outdoor shower. The food was incredible and what made it more so was the personal introduction of each dish by the chef, who had a real sense of humour. Our butler who looked after us for our stay, Justice did everything to make our stay a happy and comfortable one. I fell ill on one of the days and the head of the lodge, Siza, arranged a call with the park doctor, who prescribed antibiotics, Siza arranged for the antibiotics to be collected from the pharmacy some 50km away and delivers to the lodge within a couple of hours. Incredible service. The game viewing was excellent, Sibu as guide and Bongo as tracker made a great couple; we saw the big 5 with spectacular leopard siting. The highlight was witnessing the birth of a baby Zebra and watching it take its first wobbly steps 14 minutes after birth. Thank you &beyond you did it again and lived up to your slogan of “delighting guests”.

We wanted a memorable experience for our couple only safari adventure after having such a memorable family safari experience at Ngala 15 years ago. Phinda Rock Lodge achieved that with magnificent scenery, successful game drives to see cheetahs, lions, elephants, … and the wonderful personal attention from the staff (thanks Zee, Zama, Mlipo, Leroy, and Declan). Chef Leroy went out of his way to accommodate my wife’s dietary limitations whilst still keeping my tastebuds tantalised. Declan and Mlipo ensured we explored every nook and cranny of the reserve finding us a diversity of animals. I hope to return again another time.

After an amazing stay at Londolozi in the Kruger area we experienced a tremendous let down at our next stop, Phinda Rock Lodge. Immediately upon arrival it became clear we had made a mistake booking at this property. Furnishings in common area and room were old and worn down, in various states of disrepair. Room was far from clean. Water closet had such a lighting deficiency a flashlight was needed in the evening. There were some service issues the first day as well. The service issues were corrected for the 2nd and 3rd days of our stay, but the rundown condition of the property could not be resolved obviously. We requested a financial accommodation which we felt was reasonable but no accomodation was given other than a complimentary night if we return within two years. We will not be returning within two years and even if we did we would not stay at an &beyond property based on our experience at Rock Lodge. There are so many beautiful properties with pricing similar to Rock Lodge, another option clearly should be taken so as to avoid the major disappointment we experienced.

I stayed only for 1 night but it was unforgettable. Carin my lodge manager escorted me to one of the most beautiful lodges I’ve ever stayed at. With an outdoor private pool and a flint stone like cave architecture, this lodge is luxury personified. Zama the chef saw to it that my meals were catered to well (I’m vegetarian) . Lucky my ranger made my first drive delightful by making me gaze at 4 white rhinos in 5 minutes! And then three lions and an elephant frolicking at a river. I had the company of a wonderful couple from Perth Australia and I had great food over great conversations. Charming and thoroughly enjoyable I’d say! Wish I had stayed longer.

Our very first safari lodge experience and we couldn't have asked for a better one! Phinda Stone Lodge is extraordinary in so many ways. Of course the most important our the fame drives. Hunke was our guide and when comparing him to our other guides later in the trip I quickly realized he was amazing!! He is full of knowledge and he and our tracker (whose name I cannot spell but was spectacular as well) made each game drive very exciting. We saw the Big 5 after just two drives. We saw Cheetas as well. The lodge itself was beautiful. Karin, our host, was fabulous. In addition, she was a great guard for us in the mornings during breakfast to keep all the monkeys that are in the trees from stealing our food! In reality, this was so much fun every morning watching the monkeys try to get to us. The food itself was exceptional as was the service. The accommodation itself was five star The bedding was so comfortable!. We flew in on Airlink to Kruger, and then took a small plane from federal airlines to the lodges airstrip. I recommend this mode of transportation as the roads are pretty bad and the right is long and bumpy if you don't fly I highly recommend this large for your Safari adventures
