Absolutely bliss! Amazing time at Kosi Forest Lodge. Attention to detail second to none and staff so attentive and considerate. I'd emailed about staying months before and initially we thought we'd go end of March over my Mums 60th Birthday, my Dads is start of March too so thought we'd celebrate both there. We decided to go earlier in March at the start of their trip to South Africa and so I hadn't mentioned anything about the birthdays again. During the stay one of the staff members called me a side and said isn't it one of your parents birthdays. I couldn't believe they'd remembered from emails month ago, especially as we'd ended up booking different dates. They wanted to know as they were baking her a cake to have after dinner tonight. Lovely thoughtful gesture and not asked for. Very kind of them, tasted delicious too and they came and sang Happy Birthday in a private setting where we were having dinner away from other diners. Beautiful surroundings, meals were amazing! I've been disappointed with food in South Africa in general from KZN to Cape Town but this place the food was amazing! Loved every single meal. The food was just incredible. We stayed 4 nights and in our package had the guided walk, boat tour of the Kosi lakes with afternoon spent at the beach and the kayaking. We added on the turtle tour-do not recommend this this time of year, was a big disappointment as we saw none and we had to pay anyway but nothing to do with lodge-external company run this and lodge just take you. Before the tour they set up dinner on the beach for us, a hot cooked meal as the sun set. Delicious and a real treat with again, so much attention to detail. The beauty of the surroundings and scenery was breathtaking. The walks just to the kayaking, really, really stunning. Worth going just for this alone. Such amazing nature and plants and really gorgeous landscapes. Very impressed with Nokabonga, she greeted us every morning and evening and was very welcoming on our arrival. She even remembered all our names and would greet us by name-great personal touch! Jerome was our guide for kayaking and guided walk, he also drove us to and from the turtle tour-lovely guy, answered many questions and told us lots of information. Carried our bags and was just a joy to be around. These two members of staff deserve a special mention, they're a real asset to the company. Paker took us for our boat trip and he too was also excellent, very jolly and informative. Even the cleaners greeted us if we passed them walking around and chatted with us when at our accommodation-lovely staff all round. Boma baths and outdoor showers-perfect! Staff came to light lanterns around bath when we were at dinner every night so we got back to a lit boma bathroom-beautiful! Wish we stayed longer! Will definitely return and highly recommend!! Only problem, we had transfers to accommodation and booked for 12, no one came for us until 12.53!! We were still charged for transfers and personally I think this should have been deducted from the bill. We waited a long time and called multiple times and kept being told they'd call the driver and call us straight back. Despite 3 calls over this hour we didn't get a single one back and never knew whether our driver was on his way or not. Disappointment from this was quickly forgotten once at hotel when we were blown away with everything else.…
My husband and I stayed Kosi Forest Lodge for 2 nights. We loved the grounds and sunset by the pool was fantastic. The food was pretty good and the service was decent, but not overly friendly. We did the half-day boat tour and the canoeing through the lodge and those activities were great! The room/cabin was rustic, cozy, and private, but it was a bit too small. Once you opened a suitcase you could barely walk around the gigantic bed. We were disappointed that the lodge allows small children to stay there. While all the other guests were couples, one family had a small loud child with them and it threw off the atmosphere for everyone else. Overall we enjoyed staying at Kosi Forest Lodge but wouldn't pay the high price to stay there again.
My family and I spent a week at the lodge and I must say it has been one of the best experiences we had. The level of customer services goes above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable and enjoy your time there. If you just want to kick back and relax, the beaches are amazingly beautiful and just perfect. The area is so untouched and serene, coming home was bitter sweet. Thank you Kosi Forest Team for you hard work and doing all you did to make our stay so special and memorable.
What a beautiful piece of paradise! My husband and I stayed here for two nights and it was so special. We were treated absolutely amazingly by the staff ( Thulani, George, Thandeka, Lindelani and Phadqe) They looked after our every need and took us on beautiful day trips and outings. Highlights were the turtle tracking at the Bhanga Nek Beach and the boat trip on the lake System. Also they even baked a delicious cake for my husbands birthday breakfast! Highly recommended!!
We spent a week at Kosi Forest lodge and wanted to share some of the positives and negatives of the lodge. Firstly, the negatives: 1. The Accomodation needs some upgrading. The mosquito nets were full of large holes (which makes them ineffective), and given that we are in a forest, the area is full of many insects. 2. Their outdoor shower and bath although sounds romantic is impractical unless there is a net on top as both were covered in sand, leaves and lots of ants and worms. When we tried to wash the bath tub, about 50 ants floated up and we could not clear the water due to leaves stuck in the tub. 3. We were 2 adults and 4 children which means they packed 3 people per room for the same price as a family of 2 adults and 2 children as they charge per person/night. This meant we were all cramped for the 6 nights in a muggy room with barely space to walk around our beds or put our luggage (were traveling for 3 weeks so had a fair amount between 6 of us). We will definitely not be staying here again as a large family due to the size of the rooms. 4. The pool is very small so if you are planning on spending long days at the lodge there really is little for the kids to do, especially on rainy days (we had a couple of those) 5. The staff struggled with vegetarian meals for us. The kids menu has no veg options so we had to repeatedly ask them to make light fare for kids. This is a struggle because this is a 3.5 star lodge which charges 5* prices and if you are a vegetarian, it’s really not worth the price as food usually is one of the highlights at these places as Accomodation is very average. Given we are charged the same amount as people who got extensive meat and sea food dishes, a little more effort on the meals for vegetarians would have been great. Now the positives: 1. The staff were warm, friendly and especially the guides for the activities were amazing 2. The only reason one should go to the Kosi Bay is the activities it offers-the beaches are amazing, the canoeing was great, the forest walks were educational and a great experience and watching the turtles laying eggs on the beach at night is a bucket list experience. All in all, we would love to come back to this area again because of these activities…
We have just spent two nights at Kosi Forest Lodge and I cannot rave enough. Blessing, Thulani and their team will ensure a phenomenal stay! From the cool towels on arrival, to their continuous attention to detail. I'd highly recommend George for excursions- the estuary kayak is quite something to do- peaceful but beautiful. The pool is ideal - perfect depth, great views for sunsets especially. Sunloungers overlooking the estuary. Dinner under the stars with the most incredible food- compliments to the chef- just leave the diet at home. Outdoor bathrooms. Bird hide to walk to- the bird life is quite something. We were so very impressed with Forest Lodge.
After 2 weeks in national parks lodges this was a real spoil I can recommend a stay. The lodge is brilliant and the staff amazing. We loved the activities and will certainly come back. The staff go out of there way to please you.
Our stay was absolutely fantastic, the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and well looked after! It is truly a romantic getaway and highly recommended, all the way from the warm welcome to the great food(they even catered to my gluten free needs) to the romantic outside bath! It was heaven and we hope to one day return!
What an awesome place to revitalise your mind, body and soul. As a returning guest we always feel special and pampered. We never return the same as when we arrived. It is like a little paradise hidden in the trees.
Kosi forest lodge is only accepting around 20 people at a time in luxury huts with all commodities in the African forest near beautiful lakes. You will enjoy the most beautiful sunset in the world according to my spouse:) activities are possible such a boat ride on the lakes to admire the hippo’s. The cuisine is delightful while you are eating in a beautiful setup. A must go if you have the budget $$$. Worth every penny. there is a pool situated at a prime place on the property.
