We loved our room at the Taos Inn. It was large and comfortable and the hotel is right in the heart of historic Taos. That said you need to understand that the rooms are "historic." If you are looking for sleek and modern you need to keep looking. The reason I gave this a 3 star rating is what I feel is a lack of service, primarily related to mornings. The Taos Inn has an excellent restaurant in the main building (sadly closed by Covid restrictions when we were there). Why then could they not set up a simple service coffee service in the lobby - maybe even bagels or Danish?? Instead the lobby is locked until 10:00 in the morning.
Loved the location right downtown by the plaza and restaurants/brewery. The courtyard where our room was located was nice and protected from wind and weather. We appreciated the of-street parking for vehicle safety in town. We had drinks in the bar on our 1st night and it was the first night they'd been opened back up since Nov. Our waitress kicked ass. The check-in was easy, friendly, and thankfully the business follows Covid protocols. Our room had no smoke detector. I understand that it might have been removed because of the tendency for a fireplace to set it off, but it's still a safety issue. The vent fan in the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in a LONG time. Slow times (winter/Covid) are perfect for keeping up with this kind of occasional maintenance. While I'm sure it's a function of a classic property, the shower water pressure was really really weak. It would take quite a long time for someone with long hair to wash their hair.…
Right in the center of this great mountain town is this excellent, historic hotel. The staff is very helpful. It has protected courtyard parking, which I appreciate. It is walking distance to almost everything. Our room was quiet and charming - with elevated timber ceilings, white New-Mexico-style adobe fireplace, well-appointed bathroom, great reading space, and very comfortable bed. Its restaurant,"Doc Martins", is on-site with outdoor courtyard dining. I am a tequila connoisseur, and, yes, they really do have the "worlds best margarita" - as they advertise. Due to the Corona pandemic, steps had been taken to assure safety for all, including contactless check-in, mandatory masks, etc. The pricing is very reasonable - and our dog was welcome. We will come again.
Best location in Taos for shopping and eating out! We were with friends so it was nice to congregate in the outdoor courtyard where our rooms were.We were there in the fall with great weather. Great parking on property without a fee. Many restaurants, Kit Carson house, museums, within a 2-3 block walk from hotel. Rooms were very large and comfortable. The historic bar was closed when we were there due to governor's orders because of covid. We were able to request a mini-fridge for our room which was great. Julie at the reception desk was wonderful. Traffic in Taos is very busy in this area so the location with free parking and being able to walk from place to place was great. Location, location, location. Disliked · Rooms and lobby did not have coffee makers! Lobby didn't open until 10am. You could only get ice from the front desk. The historic bar was also closed which was unfortunate. We had dinner one night in the courtyard and the food was good but rather pricey.…
After my booking I received a friendly text message with all the information needed. Check in was a lovely experience and the property is cute, clean, and lovely. I will definitely be back for the margaritas and amazing place. So close to the plaza as well. Highly recommended
