After being away for too long we finally got to spent 4 nights in Morukuru Farmhouse again. This time we were with a group of 8 people and again out stay was extraordinary! We had a wonderful time doing game drives, mornings and evenings. With the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The ranger and tracker made sure we got to see the big five which was absolutely amazing! One of the mornings we had a bush breakfast and one of the evenings we had dinner at Ed’s View. All of the food was suberb, compliments to chef Asion! He made sure we had the most delicious meals with good quality food. The rest of the staff was super welcoming and helpfull and we are very gratefull for their good care and hospitality. The rooms were beyond comfortable and the bed the best I’ve ever slept in. Everything taken care of and we were able to fully relax. We can’t wait to come back again! Thanks! …

We had a wonderful stay; the huge beds were very comfortable, the interior is really nice and the staff is lovely. The morning game-drives are very early, but worth while. The staff sometimes prepares the breakfast table or the dinner table at a very special spot in the park. The cook prepares very tasty meals. I had the best panna cotta ever! I can recommend a trip to Morukuru to everyone.

Our four-night stay at the Morukuru family Madikwe farm house was fantastic. It's almost indescribable. We were welcomed by the incredibly kind team, who ensured that everything was taken care of to perfection. Every time we had breakfast, high tea, or dinner, it was in a different place or location, always a surprise. We went on safari twice a day, which was truly a gift to experience all the beautiful animals and the stunning nature. Sleeping in the hide, in the middle of nature by a stream, was also an option. You must do it if you get the chance, what an experience. We all had a wonderful massage in the new spa, and if you were lucky, you could spot an elephant in the background. You lack absolutely nothing here. Beautiful room with luxurious beds, mosquito net, and plenty of closets. Spacious bathroom with the option of an outdoor shower. Luxurious sunbeds by the pool with an umbrella. Thank you, dear team, for all the good care and love.…

It was a great vacation until thousands of Euros were missing at the end. The safe in my room was not functional, leaving me to trust the staff. And that was the wrong decision. That experience ruined the entire vacation for me. I couldn't tell you who they were but believe me when I say they were watching your every move to know when to strike. I believe in my heart that I will not ever visit them again. They treated me like this and I gave a very generous 80k rand tip. But yet they still stole from me and there is no accountability. The owners only wanted to repay what was stolen which is okay, but the experience has traumatized me. Please don't trust anyone.

Our stay at River House Morukuru was fabulous. We have been to Madikwe Reserve more than 6 times now, but this was the best lodge ever. Dohan and Anadia were perfect hosts and as a guide, Dohan was simply amazing. He gave such indepth detail about each of the animals we saw and knew a great deal about their history. It really added to the whole experience, and made you feel that you knew the animals too. We learned so much more information, despite having been on at least 20 other safaris (as its our passion). The way he interacted with our 6 grandchildren was brilliant. No question was a silly question and he took time to chat to each of them as an individual when they sat in the front of the jeep. He made the experience fun by allowing them to sit on the tracker seat and go quickly in safe parts of the reserve, something they all loved! Anadia was an excellent host going out of her way to accomodate requests - even finding a way of watching the Rugby when no way seemed possible!! She managed the lodge and the staff exceptioanlly. The catering was excellent and some of the dishes were stunning, with the chef creating beautiful food each mornign, lunch and evening. Every return you were greeted with a cocktail and a smile from Donald, and the lodge was always kept in immculate condition with attentive cleaning staff, despite the best efforts of the local monkeys!! One of my highlights was having an outdoor shower, whilst being scrutinsed by one such monkey!!! A simply stunning place that we would have no hesitation in returning to, and even thought we saw an array of beautiful animals, we left knowing there was still more to offer and we are destined to retun one day!!! Thank you Dohan, Anaadia and the team, you made our holiday a truly memorable occasion and for that we are forever grateful. All the best to you both!!…

Morukuru lodge is an oasis of luxury in the Madikwe game park. We stayed with a family of 10 in the Farmhouse. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The food and drinks are excellent. Twice a day we went into the wildlife park with two Rangers (Dean and Boike) where we received expert explanations about animals and nature.

This was our third trip to Morukuru in Madikwe but our first time in River House (previously we have stayed in Owner’s House). Everything was just as wonderful as we remembered it. So often I read reviews which contain hyperbole and wonder whether the reality could possibly be as good. With Morukuru it really is. Morukuru has private land situated in the larger Madikwe game reserve. Within Madikwe there are many Safari lodges but within Morukuru there are just three properties which have exclusive access to the Morukuru land (but can also access all of the public areas of Madikwe). Two of the Morukuru properties (Owner’s House and River House) are in the same fenced compound next to the river. The third property, Farm House, is out on its own in a separate location . Although the two houses that are in the main compound are close to each other, the construction and landscaping mean that they are not visible to each other and in all the time that we have spent there we have never seen or heard the guests in the other property. The only buildings that are shared between the two properties in the compound are the shop and a lovely massage treatment room by the river equidistant from both properties (and reached by a boardwalk). Everything here is about the guests. All members of the dedicated team at each residence are friendly, helpful and really know their stuff. When I refer to the “dedicated team” I am talking about a separate group of people that are assigned to each residence. A different couple runs each property (in our case André and Michelle - he was our guide and she runs the house) and each property will also have a tracker for the game drives, a butler, a cook and various other support staff that clean, do laundry, and generally make the stay wonderful. Importantly, each property also has its own Land Rover so each drive is very personal to your own group. The property is of the highest order – the bedrooms are magnificent and well appointed and each bedroom has its own lovely ensuite bathroom (with an indoor and outdoor shower plus a large bathtub and separate toilet). All bedrooms are very spacious double bedrooms with a huge bed and lots of cupboard space. The power sockets in the bedrooms are the round three pin South African variety, but also have USB-A ports. There is a safe in each bedroom. Another highlight is the meals. At the house, there were at least four places that we could eat – three dining tables outside and one inside. The food is cooked by the house’s dedicated chef and is delicious. I would encourage guests to interact with the chef who can tailor things to guests’ needs or wishes. There is a small shop which stocks, some clothes and gifts. A note on the Madikwe reserve (including Morukuru’s private area). This is near the border with Botswana and the terrain is fairly scrubby (lots of bushes and small trees) as opposed to large open plains or savannas. All the big five are in the reserve, although leopards are rare. This part of South Africa is “malaria free”. Whilst there we undertook some conservation work - in our case rhino conservation. Although an additional cost, it was a wonderful experience and highly recommended.…

We stayed for three nights in early June 2023, and we travelled as two couples (50s/60s). Owners House was definitely the highlight of all the places we stayed. Like all places rebuilding since COVID, there were a few glitches that we experienced, with communication, especially with some new staff, being the biggest challenge. At this level of property, they should not happen, but they are all solvable. The facilities were top-notch with our only complaint being that we were so busy we did not really get much time to enjoy it. The open showers took some getting used to, especially as one was a bit too visible from the pool. The meals were excellent (too much food), and it was truly a private chef with a great kitchen. You need four people really but it is worth it if you can do it. …

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review and feedback! We are very happy to hear that your stay at Morukuru Owner's House was the highlight of all the places you stayed. The 2-bedroom exclusive-use Morukuru Owner's House for maximum 4 guests is perfect for small families or couples travelling together, but we also welcome quite a few couples looking for privacy and exclusivity. The team (Rochane, Emile, Gummy, Sipho, Assion, Molefe, Yvonne and Ellen) very much enjoyed hosting you. It seems you also were lucky with the sightings which included male lions up close, a cheetah on a kill and a bird sighting, which turned out to be the first spotted in Madikwe Game Reserve! We hope you will cherish the memories for a long time and look forward to welcoming you back one day. Warmest regards from all of us at Morukuru Family

Granted it's our first and only true safari experience, I have to say Morukuru Madikwe exceeded all our expectations, and that's after we had a really great time at Beach Lodge in De Hoop. Our young family stayed 3 nights at owner's house, and we were tended to by the kindest and most amazing crew we could ever ask for: Anadia, Donald, Chef Aaron, Victoria, Shimmy, Dohan and team. The kids loved Dohan and Anadia in particular, who were always kind and patient to them, answering their many questions and playing games with them from time to time. Dohan and Shimmy were fantastic during the game drives, extremely knowledgeable and with a great eye for animals. We saw lots of the antelope species (including the gemsbok and roan antelope), four of the big five (no leopard, but leopard tortoise), cheetah, hyena and even rare sightings of black rhino and caracal at night. Unfortunately no wild dogs but all in all still fantastic drives. Dohan really sets the bar high as a guide, best we've had. Chef Aaron's meals were delicious and meals were never boring with the different locations around and out of owner's house. The kids are already asking when we will be back again to see Dohan, Anadia and team, and telling me 3 nights are really not enough. It's a real dilemma for me now as I really want to see leopards and am thinking of Sabi sands next, but the team at Morukuru makes me want to go back..... Special shout out to Melanie from the reservations team as well for being helpful and patient with my questions during the planning phase. Every interaction was pleasant with her and it certainly contributed to the overall experience. While a brand with not many properties, Morukuru has now come to be my favourite. …
