This Lodge is about 4.5 hrs from OR Tambo Airport. It is one of the smaller Lodges in Madikwe only 24 beds. The staff was very friendly and we only arrived after 21:00 hours due to traffic. They still made us supper and nothing was too much. The early morning drives are very cold so please come prepared with warm...

On arrival an exellent and very adequate lunch was provided while the elephant enjoyed his own lunch, quite close to the restaurant , in the riverbed. The safari tents are pure luxury and the chef served a absolute tasty braai and side dishes at the Boma at 19h00 that evening. We woke up to birdsong, saw some bushbuck and very...

This was our first visit to Madikwe game reserve. We decided to stay in Thakadu because it offered the cheeps accommodation and is situated an the banks of the Great Marico river. The setting is very nice and we enjoyed the offered luxury - even though we normally try to go for the basic bush type! Especially the grill (braai)...

Positive: Setting is very good in the middle of nature and lot's of birds and wildlife. Boma (eat around the fire) is very cosy en good. Negative: many defects in our tent; dirty furniture; service is poor and not very friendly. Every time we had to mention one of us was vegetarian (for 10 times at least during our stay)....

Internet access at the camp deserves an improvement. Coping with the conditions at the "last mile" of the access road is quite a challenge, namely when using a "normal" car. A related warning might be useful.

Beautiful setting in tented rooms along a river bed, complemented by incredible staff who are always warm and welcoming. Our ranger Kenneth was very knowledgeable and we had amazing game experiences. Great value for money.

First and foremost, its about the animals: 3 days/6 drives and such glorious encounters. So many Impala (the "McDonald's" of the reserve because everyone eats them, per driver Jerry, our eagle-eyed driver/tracker/spotter extraordinaire); "dazzles" of zebra; "towers" of giraffes (11 in one cluster); elephants; rhinos; wildebeest; bucks of a variety of sorts; a hyena; a jackal; so many beautiful birds,...

“The rooms were wonderful. Although it was a tent and therefore felt very romantic; they were very clean and absolutely beautiful. There was a gorgeous bath with brass taps, very comfortable beds and a lovely balcony. There was brilliant air conditioning and mosquito nets to keep out the insects. The rooms couldn't have been more perfect!”
