Safari isn’t just safari anymore…. And game lodges aren’t all alike. Every visit really does need to be special and every moment something to be remembered forever. The Bush House is not your typical Game lodge. The Lodge is set in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve. It is an old farmhouse that after years of family laughter and happiness has been transformed into an inviting and relaxing residence that encourages guests to kick off their shoes and unwind.

We recently held a family reunion at the Bush House. Sue, the owner, worked with us to block all the rooms so it felt like our own private lodge. The game viewing was fantastic, especially at the underground hide. I've never been so close to elephant before. It was truly a spiritual experience. The service level was very high, both during our stay and before we arrived. Sue went out of her way to answer all our questions and accommodate our every request. We have one family member who is diabetic and Sue even offered to make desserts with Xylitol if that would be helpful! The onsite staff can't be praised highly enough. Rebecca, Janne, Patrick, Chef, Minky, and the rest of the team were truly there for us 110%, bringing smiles and joy to us each and every day. The

We had a fabulous 5 days at the Bush house with family. Everything was perfect. Bedrooms lovely with all necessary items. So many places to relax! Lounge, stoep, pool, dam.. etc. Our two lovely ladies, Janné and Rebecca were so sweet and helpful! Nothing was ever too much! Every supper was at a different place. Always a surprise. The food was always excellent! Patrick was an excellent game ranger and always smiling and helpful. I can not complain about anything. Everything was perfect! Thank you for a lovely time!

What a welcoming The Bush house gave us. We were spoilt with an oasis in the dry veld. A stunning view of the watering hole to watch the animals daily routines. The bird hide is so close that it feels like you are one of the animals alongside elephants, warthogs, zebras and jackals as they all come sip or bath at the waters edge. The food was divine, the service was great and the guided safari tours were even better. Patrick was able to track and find all the Big 5 and some added extras like cheetah, wild dog and hyhaenas! This relaxed atmosphere was perfect for a restorative retreat after a long year. Thank you so so much for attention to detail and serving with a generous attitude.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at The Bush House,Madikwe. Wow! Can highly recommend this wonderful oasis in the bushveld. The staff are amazing, so is the food. The accommodation is luxurious and fully supplied with all you need. The added bonus is of course the water hole right at the house and as for the hide which enables you to be up close and personal with the animals coming for a drink is indescribable. To be so close to elephants you can just about touch them. Thank you, thank you, thank you

Definitely worth a visit - staff were friendly, courteous and saw to every need. Game guide had an incredible and diverse amount of knowledge. Food and accommodation were top notch - more than a home away from home. The wildlife experience we had was just amazing, something different on every drive. The garden was beautiful and was lovely to sit in and watch the birds or the animals up to their antics at the waterhole. The underground hide gave a different and closer experience to game viewing. A must for anyone interested in photography. There is a small pool which we didn't try but would definitely be worthwhile with the summer heat.
