Small camp with a personal touch. All of the team have extensive Bush knowledge. Got to have some amazing encounters on bike, foot and vehicle. Gorgeous pool and deck. Facilities, although basic, are sufficient. Unbelievable overall experience.

Thank you for your lovely review Paul. We all thoroughly enjoyed hosting you and the family for your specialised cycle safari, and were just thrilled to hear of your sightings reports on return to the camp each morning & evening > and what sightings you had! We are happy that all aspects of your safari, whether on the bikes through the bush following the animal game paths, in the vehicle during game drives or on foot trailing and approaching the wildlife added to the overall experience and time with us. We look forward to your return and some more peddle time through our amazing environment.

Our stay at Bateleur was absolutely amazing and definitely recommend it! Everybody in camp was so warm and welcoming, we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The vibe in camp was great and very relaxed. There's a communal area where there are drinks and fruit/snacks available all day. You can get it yourself, but always host Sophia or someone of the staff was present to help you. The camp was amazing, but the experience delivered by everybody made it really special. Guide Christian and tracker Lucky make a great combination and even after many safaris they were able to let us experience the bush in a way we hadn't before. They were really good at spotting the not obvious as well. Like a pearl spotted owlet and a white tailed mongoose. Ofcourse they delivered on the

Lars thank you for this truly detailed review of your stay with us, we appreciate all the feedback! We are thrilled to hear that the camp, as well as the entire staff team made your safari a truly memorable one, without feeling like you could not relax or feel at home. We strive ourselves on delivering a safari experience like no other and it seems we have achieved just that during your stay, from the amazing guiding team of Christian & Lucky and their game viewing capabilities (sounds like they really spoilt you with not only the Big 5 but the smaller aspect of the environment as well from their extensive tracking and trailing knowledge, general bush knowhow and their adventurous personalities), the spacious and comfortable tents, not to mention the delights of the outside showers, to Kalmay delivering her famous mouth-watering meals to keep you satisfied throughout the day. It is great that you jumped right in and tried all that the camp had to offer you, and we all look forward to welcoming you return for you next South African safari adventures.

excellent location (adjacent to Kruger), excellent food (they catered to our vegetarian diet), excellent service (rooms were clean). Christain and Lucky were amazing guides and trackers. We particularly enjoyed the walks.

Leslie thank you for your lovely review of our little camp! It was only a pleasure to host you within our natural surrounds and that you managed to spend some time on foot walking through the bush. It really is a completely different experience and view of the bush from the ground level. It is fantastic to read that the level of service at the camp in both housekeeping and food offering was topnotch and enjoyed, we would hate for you to feel hungry or uncovered for in any way. We look forward to your return for more wild adventures with us!

Located on the Timbavati Private Reserve Bateleur is a tented safari camp running totally on solar power. The owners try to meet all of your desires. Your guide and tracker go beyond the normal duties and teach you bush skills. The only negative is that we arrived when South Africa was having an unusually cold front and it was a bit cold in the tent as there is no heat. I would highly recommend if you want to experience a safari a bit more unusual and calmer than the fast pace of the Sabi Sands.

We greatly appreciate the time taken to review your stay with us, and are always heartfelt to read such lovely reviews. We are thrilled to hear that your safari with us was at a more relaxed and calmer pace than that of other safari camps, and hopefully has gained a place within your memory for our bush based style of safari, encompassing not just the wildlife but the bush skills and knowledge as well. Such a pity weather was not playing the game and spat out such cold & windy days during your time with us; hopefully with the double fluffy blankets as well as the duvet keep you snug and warm during the evenings, although a bit of a challenge to arise in the mornings. We look forward to welcoming you return to Bateleur on your next visit to South Africa, hopefully during warmer conditions so that one may enjoy the use of the swimming pool area as well as being less wrapped up on game drives.

We really enjoyed our stay here. All the staff was very welcoming and friendly. It felt like a home away from home. Lucky and Christian make a fantastic team, they have so much fun and work very well together. We learned lots of new things, although we have been on safari countless times before. We loved the way we tracked animals together and went on several short walking safaris to get closer to rhinos. Lucky also teaches you how to survive in the bush. The food was very delicious and creative. You would like to take Karmel (I hope I spelled her name correctly) home! Covid measurements are taken very seriously, they checked our temperature every day, aswell as our oxygen levels and everybody keeps on sanitizing all the time. We would love to go back here! Thanks

Wonderful to hear that you enjoyed you time on safari with us & that the camp felt like your home away from home. This is exactly how we would want one to feel & take away from their safari experience with us at Bateleur Safari Camp. Christian & Lucky are a dream together and it's lovely to hear that they added to our knowledge of our surrounding bush environment; as well as the thrill of spending time on foot tracking & trailing, immersing ones self and getting a feel for the behaviour and natural movements of our wildlife species within their habitat; a truly different experience all together! Sorry to stay that Kalmay (no worries about the spelling) is staying here with us and could not be taken home with you, but super happy to hear that you enjoyed her delicious food offerings each meal. We strive ourselves on adhering to our COVID protocols and practices to ensure the safety of not only our guests but also that of our amazing team on the ground; and it is wonderful to hear that the daily temperature & oxygen level checks are not too much to ask of our guests each morning. Safety comes first in ALL aspects of your safari, not just while being out in the bush. Myself, Brad and the entire Bateleur team look forward to welcoming you return to us for your next safari adventure, hopefully sooner rather than later.
