Situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Kings Camp reflects the charm and romance of a colonial past in a pristine corner of unspoilt Africa. Kings Camp is situated facing an open savanna plain with a waterhole, which is frequented by a wide variety of wildlife, day and night.Eleven generously spacious colonial suites are luxuriously equipped with air-conditioning, Victorian ball-and-claw bath, indoor and outdoor double shower, fully stocked mini-bar and private verandah. Dark tones of wood and thatch offset the natural colours of the bushveld.

Kings Camp is such a special lodge with the most incredible staff. We were constantly impressed with how amazing the staff was and how they went above and beyond to make you feel special and make our honeymoon the best trip of our lives. The honeymoon suite was beautiful and the deck was great. The bar room was so beautiful and a great place to get a drink before dinner each night. The staff in the dining room was so amazing from the chefs to Life and Eversmile. Neil our guide was by far the best ranger we had of the three lodges we stayed at. He was such a great teacher and really made our bush walk memorable. We can't thank the lodge and Warren and his family enough for making this such a great honeymoon. We will be back with the rest of our family!!

Absolutely over the top service. We were lucky enough to have Neil for a guide. He was amazingly knowledgable about all wildlife, flora, and catered our trip to the birds I was particularly interested in. The tracking team made sure we saw everything we hoped to and more. Hayley even took the time to star gaze with us and point out the constellations. The lodge is even better than advertised and the food cooked by Chef Gareth was the best we had in Africa, just incredible every meal! Just Perfection on every level of service.

Kings Camp was the 1st of our safari trips. The lodge and our room was pretty close to perfect!! Large bathroom and the room is GREAT! The entire staff is very pleasant, eager to please, and extremely nice. The grounds are beautiful. The food is wonderful-Our stay was amazing for sure!! Our tracker was Goodman and our Guide/Ranger was Grant. They are beyond any expectation of what you’re thinking you might get while riding along looking at all animals! Words can’t describe the amount of knowledge these guys have. If you ask (as we did), they will share so much info with you. They want you to leave with more than what you came with-knowledge about the terrain, the animals, their tracks, how they move around….it is unbelievable what they know! It was so fun listening to them and hearing how they do what they do-each time we jumped on the Jeep, it was new experience. Grant and Goodman are an absolute must….they really are the best of the best.

This is just a review of Chef Gareth and not the lodge. I stayed at a nearby lodge in Timbavati and Chef Gareth freelanced at my lodge for a couple days to cater to me exclusively as I keep kosher. Gareth is super friendly and delightful to work with. He kept extremely well fed over a couple days and was super flexible about catering to anything I wanted. He put together great menus that were presented beautifully and tastefully and always explained each dish as it was served. Keeping kosher in a bush lodge isn't easy and Gareth put it together like a pro, even ordering biltong and beef jerky as snacks for afternoon game drives and enough rack of lamb for seconds. Would strongly recommend a kitchen under Gareth's command.

This is absolutely a 5 plus star resort. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by an amazing staff who took care of every detail for I being gluten free and fragrance free. The room is beautiful with both an indoor and outdoor shower, a swimming pool per suite with a beautiful deck that outlooks the open watering hole where the animals visit. The beds were heavenly with a very spacious bedroom, office area, sitting area and a bathroom the size of a very large hotel room . The grounds were very well maintained and the chef Gareth deserves a Michelin Star. Gareth took care of my Gluten free diet with out compromising on the taste. His presentation is a true art form. When we asked to taste local Kudu, he changed the menu at a moments notice. Warren and Lisha the managers are very sensitive to protecting everyone from Covid. All of the staff wear masks and are very careful. The Assistant Managers Hayley, Caitlin and Boiketlo assisted with a range of details from dealing with Covid tests, and flight arrangements. They take care of every fine detail and very busy behind the scenes. Cliff and Life greeted us at every meal and return to camp to take care of all of our individual requests. Great bartenders and their duties range from starting our fireplace, to greeting us at 5:45 AM and serving all of our meals. Not, but not least was our top notch guide Cynet and tracker Sunnyboy with darling Caitlin who is studying to be a guide. They were determined that we would see the big 5 , small 20 , ugly 5 and knew all the birds, flora and fauna. The wonderful aspect of King’s camp is that it is a private reserve, with very few vehicles around. Within in 10 minutes of our first drive, Sunnyboy located the Leopard and Mother with the impala kill in the trees. Their expertise of tracking and guiding is many many years of experience. I do believe they never sleep and track all night so that we can have the ultimate experience each day. On our second day, Sunnyboy with the Managers son Kathan were determined to track the male lions, while we had lunch and a rest and were we in for a great surprise for the afternoon ride and evening ride. We were able to follow a male lion through the bush as he roared for his lionesses to greet him. We returned to the camp overjoyed with the days experience to have the most wonderful surprise of all: A 40th anniversary celebration on our patio with lanterns lit along the porch and the fire burning in the fireplace and a beautiful set table. We went into to change for dinner and found a hot bath awaiting us in a gorgeous tub with flower petals and candles surrounding the tub. It could not have been more romantic. Gareth of course surprised us with scrumptious and artfully presented appetizers, drinks and dinner. The dessert each night are unique and tasty. You can tell he loves being a chef and we wish him years of happiness and sometime opening his own restaurant. Ouma our room attendant left the room immaculate each day with chocolates on our pillow, coffee maker and cream ready for the morning. Our clothes folded and put away and mosquito netting down in the evening. The rooms are so clean you can do the white glove test and not find an flake of dust. The grounds are so peaceful with lounge chairs around the pool and also each individual pool. The bars are also beautiful with an upstairs bar that you an overlook the watering hole as different species migrate to visit for water. Many species are on the grounds themselves. I forgot to mention our first dinner was inside on a cool evening with us sitting in the bar for an intimate dinner by the fireplace with another sumptuous dinner by Gareth. Cliff and Life are there to take care of afternoon drinks, evening drinks and keeping your room bar well stocked. They run for blankets when we get cool. My regret is that we are not here for a week. We will definitely be back and look forward to bringing our children, their spouses and our grandchildren her. It is Magical. Traveling during covid has been fine for the Kings Camp make it very safe. Everyone is tested prior to arriving and they go to all extents to keep us safe. They can even provide testing at the camp prior to your next flight back. If there was a 10 star rating I would do it!!!! The Marshalls will return for we love South Africa and Kings Camp!!!!
