Situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Kings Camp reflects the charm and romance of a colonial past in a pristine corner of unspoilt Africa. Kings Camp is situated facing an open savanna plain with a waterhole, which is frequented by a wide variety of wildlife, day and night.Eleven generously spacious colonial suites are luxuriously equipped with air-conditioning, Victorian ball-and-claw bath, indoor and outdoor double shower, fully stocked mini-bar and private verandah. Dark tones of wood and thatch offset the natural colours of the bushveld.

In celebration of our 15th Anniversary we were looking for a luxurious getaway where we could just push the off button.
Well on arrival our expectations were all exceeded to the brim.
We were greeted by the friendliest smiles and warmest welcomes. Patricia you are truly a breath of fresh air after a long journey.
Refreshing welcoming drinks were served and all Covid-19 protocols were swiftly taken care of.
Luxurious signature colonial styled rooms, were our sanctuaries for the duration of our stay.
The attention to detail leaves one mesmerised and I often found myself lost in a piece of artwork.
Not too mention that each room has it's own private splash pool, which is very welcoming in the sweltering heat of the day.
Just don't make the mistake of falling asleep on the inviting loungers at 4 in the afternoon thinking that one won't be sunburnt that time of the day!
Each member of staff made our stay even more special, there was never a request too big or too small that was seen to.
Each meal was a feast. The first night at the Boma was superb, were we got to meet our Ranger Cynet for the duration of our stay. Thank you to our hosts Warren and Lisha, we could seriously want for anything else than what was delivered during our stay.
The game drives were an adventure with every outing. Sonnyboy our tracker was exceptional at literally seeking and finding the game. Cynet has such a wide knowledge of his surroundings and much was to be learnt. What amazing photography opportunities I had. A true paparazzi of the bush was unleashed!
Last but definitely not least, the food. Thank you to Chef Mpho, who took the time at every meal to come out, greet us and enquire if we were satisfied with our meals. They were truly all taste bud tantalisers without a doubt. Thank you to all the staff in the dinning areas, we were well taken care of, housekeeping included.
Would I return is always a question I ask myself at the end of a stay........without a doubt!

Holidaying in your home country is under rated, especially when you experience the superlative hospitality of Kings Camp
.
We celebrated a milestone birthday at Waterbuck Lodge.
The exclusivity and lodge location on the river is impressive. Even more so is the lodge itself. Sumptuously decorated rooms, bespoke meals from you own chef, private pool and exceptional staff that cater to your every need, makes for a pampering, relaxing stay.

Then there are the game drives: big five and more, lowveld sunsets, South African bushveld at its best.

We had a memory making, indulgent and very special time.
Waterbuck totally lived up to our expectations, and then some.

We were 6 women on a leadership retreat and we had the best time during our 2 night stay at Kings Camp from the warm welcome by the GM Hayley and her team upon arrival and after every game drive, to the fantastic and varied food options, to the luxurious and immaculately clean rooms with complimentary minibar and laundry service, but mostly due to the spectacular sightings during our games drives made possible by our very experienced tracker, Albert, and ranger, Grant, whose sarcastic humour was not lost on us! Their expertise meant that we saw the Big Five during our first 2 game drives and had the opportunity to go for a bush walk instead of game drive on our last morning during which we tracked a lion for over an hour to eventually finding him at a watering hole. The highlight for many of us was following 4 lion cubs and their parents through the bush to reuniting with their pride of 8 other lions.

Our only regret is that we did not have more time to enjoy the facilities like the hideout where you are eye level with the nearby watering hole or the lookout which gives a higher vantage point, or the swimming pool which looked especially enticing on the hot afternoons as we were jetlagged from our travels. Several of us did manage to have a massage in the small but well appointed spa and that did not disappoint either!

We would highly recommend Kings Camp and I'm even thinking about changing my family's safari booking at Madikwe next year to their sister Lodge because we were so impressed with the exceptional service, sightings and setting at Kings Camp! Many thanks to the whole team for taking such good care of us, and creating memories that will warm our hearts for the rest of our lives!

This is just a review of Chef Gareth and not the lodge. I stayed at a nearby lodge in Timbavati and Chef Gareth freelanced at my lodge for a couple days to cater to me exclusively as I keep kosher. Gareth is super friendly and delightful to work with. He kept extremely well fed over a couple days and was super flexible about catering to anything I wanted. He put together great menus that were presented beautifully and tastefully and always explained each dish as it was served. Keeping kosher in a bush lodge isn't easy and Gareth put it together like a pro, even ordering biltong and beef jerky as snacks for afternoon game drives and enough rack of lamb for seconds. Would strongly recommend a kitchen under Gareth's command.

We had the most wonderful time spending three nights at Kings Camp. The staff pampered us like we were royalty and we can't say enough about how wonderful everyone was.

From our guide and tracker who courageously tracked leopards through the bush and gave helped us get the best memories from our trip to all the talented chefs that prepared the delicious meals and even brought our birthday meal onto our private balcony. The massage staff, the front office, .. well .. just everyone!!

We had one of our most memorable experiences right there at the camp when a herd of elephants came to drink from the neighboring watering hole.

It's hard to put into words how the Kings Camp just took our breath away. Magical and we hope to return one day.

We stayed at Kings Camp in Nov 21 for my wifes birthday. Everything about it by far exceeded our expectations. The location, the wildlife and game drives, the qualtiy and of food and accommodation and attentions to detail had us speechless from time to time. Thanks to management and staff, last but not least to THB Travel in Johannesburg who planned our entire holiday in ZA. Thank you all for an unforgetable experience !

Kings Camp is the perfect destination for a relaxing, peaceful, and energy-restoring holiday. The staff are genuine, warm, friendly, caring, and go above and beyond to meet your every need while you're at the camp. We remembered each person by name because of the time they took to get to know us, which made us feel very welcome and special. Our ranger, Cynet, and tracker, Sunnyboy, were outstanding - they were both incredibly talented and knowledgeable about every aspect of the wildlife. They gladly answered each and every question we had and shared amazing insights with us about the animals. The rooms have just been redone and are beautiful. We also loved the specialty cocktails that we were greeted with each night that we came home from the evening drive - what a nice touch! When we left, everyone came to the front to send us on our way with well wishes, which was incredibly heartwarming and meant the world to us. Also, a few of the people we met while there were return guests, which speaks volumes about the camp and is a testament to just how amazing it is. We highly recommend a stay at Kings Camp!

We had an absolutely AMAZING 4 night stay at Kings Camp in one of their 2 Honeymoon suites.

Having dreamt of going on a safari for such a long time, we were so happy to discover that reality far surpassed expection. With the expertise of our tracker Albert, and guide Lina, we saw the big 5 in our first 24 hours!

We didn't miss an opportunity to go on a game drive and loved every minute of all 8 of them. We saw many more animals than we bargained for, and learnt so much about all of them, alongside learning about the local flora&fauna, from Lina, whose knowledge was nothing short of impressive. Kings Camp have a true gem in her.

As for the accommodation, that was also stunning. It was like something out of a fairy tale. Our suite was beautifully presented, clean and with a lovely big comfortable bed surrounded with nets. We had a lovely private pool, which we made good use out of even though it was technically their winter (though to us brits anything over 20°C counts as hot). My husband also enjoyed all of the complimentary spirits, and I thoroughly enjoyed the tea and biscuit selection. What I also need to highlight is that game veiwing didn't end with the drive, we regularly enjoyed the sight of elephants/nyala/baboons passing by while sitting pool side. Just an incredible experience.

The food offerings were great and very varied. From bush breakfasts, to boma dinners, to our very own private veranda dining, we couldn't have asked for more. It you wanted something comforting from home it was there, but if you wanted to try something more local then that was also available. A massive thank-you to Cliff and Life, who really took great care of us from start to finish.

I also must mention the highlight of our whole trip to South Africa, which was the opportunity to participate in Rhino Notching. Words can not adequately describe that day. All I can say is it was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for us, and I would strongly encourage anyone visiting Kings Camp to at least consider participating. To truly learn about, and help wildlife conservation is a wonderful feeling. I only hope that the opportunity to see these majestic creatures is available for many generations to come. Keep up the good work Kings Camp.

A final thank you to Warren and Lisha for running such an exquisite establishment and for allowing us to create memories we shall never forget. I only hope we can return sometime in the future to make more.

I admit I am biased. I keep returning to Kings Camp. This was my 6th visit and was delayed by 2 years due to the pandemic. With the pandemic still rearing its ugly head, I decided a longer stay at a familiar place that I trusted would be a good solution. It was. From the moment I arrived, it was like returning home. The staff, a mixture of old and new faces, took care of anything I needed and always with a smile. I am probably one of the few visitors who requests the same tracker visit after visit. My rangers have come and gone over the years, but Albert has been my tracker on almost every visit. This time they paired Albert with Grant, the head ranger. They don't usually work together but we had fun and it worked well. My long stay allowed us to explore the Timbavati much more widely than previous visits and it was well worth it. The lion sightings were the highlights with lots of young cubs. And I can't forget the wild dogs with tons of puppies at a den site that was exclusive to Kings Camp. Plenty of leopards, elephants and general game spotted too. The rooms were refurbished since my last visit and it was worth it. Warren and Lisha, and the entire Kings Camp staff, make each visit feel like a homecoming. I know I will be back again and again.

We had 4 nights here and loved it, having had to postpone our visit twice. We are return guests and received a warm welcome back from Warren, Lisha and the team. We stayed in our favourite room (11- a honeymoon suite).

The camp was very quiet due to having suffered many cancellations due to Omicron but nonetheless the experience offered was simply world class, from the game drives with Elvis and Remember to the excellent food prepared by chef Gareth. The only slight change we would make is to the Boma dinner where guests sit side by side in a crescent shape which we don't feel is conducive to social dining.

Can't wait to return, a big thanks to Warren, Lisha and the whole team
