As Australians we chose to drive from Johannesburg to Simbavati with our teenage daughter. (Highly recommend driving and advise a stop over to see the Blyde River Canyon.) From the first friendly welcome to our reluctant farewell we had an amazing time. We stayed in "Elephant" a 2 bedroom lodge which provided us with privacy and the security we wanted...

After a long and exhausting trip, which included non existent snow at Heathrow and a late and hellish BA flight and without our our travel agents at GO2Africa, Gaby and Kerry, we would not have survived as a family, we arrived to heaven on earth, Simbavati River lodge! Whole staff was so nice and friendly, the food was great -...

Between the two safari rides a day and the delicious meals you sit on the deck reading and watching the wildlife in day to day activities. ie......

My husband and I were at Simbavati for three nights at the very end of August 2010. We are seasoned safari-goers and have been on safari in Tanzania (Serengeti, Ngogongoro), Botswana's Okavango Delta, and multiple times in South Africa including self-drives in Kgalagadi, Kruger, and Sabi Sands (at Chitwa Chitwa). By now we have seen the "Big Five" many times...

We really hunted for a place in the Kruger that would meet all our expectations... from sleeping in a tent (ok.... so it was a luxury tent) and waking up to the call of the wild, to early morning and evening treks, to good food, luxury, at an affordable price. We googled for weeks, and then up came Timbavati and...

We were greeted warmly on arrival, taken on our exciting safari drives each morning and evening, fed extremely well, luxuriously accomodated in our "tent" with large terrace overlooking the river (if you have never been in a tented camp, you need to look at the website and see just how super they are - e.g. luxurious outside bath tub) and...
