The game sightings and game drives were nothing short of amazing. The area is rich in a diverse number of animals as well as many predators and elephants. Leopards are my favourite wild sighting and we saw two incredible sightings across 3 drives. The food was lovely, never went hungry. The staff were professional and pleasure to be with. Nothing was ever too much. We enjoyed being at the pool in the day - looking out at the bush. I would highly recommend Tangala for all those who want a real bush experience with delicious food and amazing game.

We recently had a 2 night stay at the camp.1. We were not meet at the gate and all attempts to call the resort were met with unanswered calls. we had to wait at the gate in the sun for two hours before they came and open the gate in 37degrees.2. No aircon or fan or drinking water. received a fan later. 3. the bedding and plumbing very bad. one tab did not have any water. 4. the views from the poolside are unbelievable. 5. Game drives are good. 6. Thornybush has excellent wildlife. 7 do your homework before making the same mistake.

We recently had a 3 night stay at Tangala private camp and hd the most amazing game viewing experience. Clement, our ranger and Fumani, our spotter were exceptional. Tent accomodation and catering were average but the bush experience truly amazing. Good value for money proposition even for a South African?

We experienced excellent game viewing with our tracker and driver really going out of their way to give us an unforgettable experience. However, the management of the resort did not afford us the same experience. We were not met at the gate and all attempts to call the resort were met with unanswered calls. and had to wait in the sun for close to 2 hours before we were finally collected. The food although reasonable was almost rationed. The last guest to dish up needed to take what was left, if any and when ordering breakfast (even though we were only 6 persons) by the time the last guest receives his food the other guests have already eaten. There are no fans and hairdryers in the tents and in line with managements policy of rationing, bathroom amenities were also very scarce. Management did provide these after we requested for the items.

We stayed at Tangala for two nights in one of the huts. The accommodation is comfortable and had a rustic authentic feel to it. We also noted that the hut maintained a cool temperature despite the heat outside! The managers Johan and Madeline were very hospitable and created a calm, friendly, welcoming and very ambient atmosphere which us and other guests thoroughly enjoyed! All staff including barman and kitchen were lovely and attentive! The views from the poolside are just unbelievable with regular visitors like Giraffes, zebras, plenty of impalas, elephants and warthogs! It’s almost hard to believe you are in a camp when you see all these animals in the wild right from your sun bed! But what makes the whole experience truly special is the amazing guide Clement and the tracker Fumani! They are a real gem of the Tangala camp with wealth of knowledge and understanding of local wildlife, be it reading the animal footprints or predicting the animal behaviour! We managed to see all Big 5 in two days all thanks to these two incredible guys! Apart from the big 5, we saw loads of other animals like big tortoise, chameleons, spiders and numerous birds! It felt like Clement and Fumani were leading not only our truck but also the other guides from neighbouring lodges - as we were always the first to each of the ‘big’ sightings. Having seen leopards some in our group said how lucky we were - we were lucky but the reason we saw such special leopards was more the skills and expertise of Clement and Fumani rather than luck. They are a true asset and ambassadors for Tangala! I would thoroughly recommend this place if you are after an authentic African experience!

Thank you Tangala for an exceptional safari experience. The game viewing was next level. Every drive we were lucky enough to see unique sightings. The game ranger and tracker were so insightful and friendly. They made the already incredible experience even better. The food was excellent, thank you Thuli for going above and beyond to ensure our tummies were full! We stayed in a luxury safari tent. It was very comfortable. Thank you once again for an awesome experience.

Shocking ! City Lodge for R1000 rand per night offers 10x better than this. Tourist trap. No aircon no fan no free drinking water. Just do your homework before making the same mistake I did. Do some research before you fall for this so call 3 star lodge ! It’s not even 1 star!

Beware the tourist trap. For the money you spend it is more suited to go to any other adjacent camp either in the Kruger or sabi sands. The accommodation, bedding and plumbing is worse off than the SANParks camps in the Kruger. There isn’t drinkable water and you have to keep buying water to drink. The food is adequate but nothing close to what you would be served at a very basic restaurant. We went in scorching December and the rooms had no air-cons or even basic fans, there are no means of temperature regulation. The game drives are good and staff is friendly. We booked off Bushbreaks that claimed this is a four star lodge, the lodge itself claims to be 3 stars but are not rated on the SA tourism website as having a rating, but according to their standards would struggle to get a one star rating. Definitely a major disappointment for the money you spend on your stay.

This was our second visit to Tangala. Animal sightings never disappoint although but small changes can make a huge difference: 1. Raincoats poor quality, get completely wet while driving. See this was mentioned on other reviews as well. Bring your own. 2. Ranger and tracker speak more to each other than to guests, very little checking and following of tracks. The last visit we had here Bennie the ranger actively searched animals through tracking and we found them! 3. No aircons or fans in rooms. With summer heat and price you pay a fan is an absolute MUST! 4. No mosquito nets in front of windows in chalets, can't open windows at night. 5. Tracker and ranger clothing torn and old. This should be an extension of your lodge's image. 6. Tip box has a lock on but I witnessed the staff removing envelopes with a sharp object through the deposit opening. Not sure if these were shared equally... But after mentioning all above that can be improved easily the sightings are still amazing, that's why we will come back again.

From the warm welcome to the final game drive we had a wonderful time. Our guide and tracker were fantastic! We saw the Big Five and many other animals. We met lovely, friendly people and were well fed. Don’t hesitate to book your stay with Tangala. We will definitely come back.
