Wow, this place is amazing! We had the best experience here with Dyke and Sunday as our guide and spotter. The lodge is beautiful, the food is amazing and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience in terms of safari drives. We saw so much, including highlights of white lion cub, leopard and leopard cub up a tree, wild dog pups, a group of 15 lions killing a zebra and a black rhino! Nature is nature and you can’t guarantee these kinds of sightings but even when we weren’t at sightings, we spent so much time learning about the area and the wildlife from the knowledgable guide. We later got told Dyke is actually a legend amongst the guides so we felt very privileged to have had him driving us and guiding us. The laundry service was great too and is complimentary which means no need to over pack! All in all, we will never forget this experience and will definitely return one day.

Property's Favourite Review
From start to finish this was the trip of a lifetime. Going on safari here was like nothing else. We didn't have the best weather, but Barney our ranger and Sunday our tracker made it so memorable for our family. We saw so many animals up close and learned so much. We also got exceptional service from Tussan and Mike. The accommodations are amazing, I will miss the outdoor shower and bath. The food was incredible and plentiful and the sundowner cocktails in the bush will never be forgotten. Having a port on our terrace each night was the perfect way to end each day.

Where to even begin with andBeyond Ngala Safari Lodge! This lodge is absolutely incredible and the team there has thought of every single little detail! The rooms were clean, well appointed and stocked with amenities! We enjoyed the overall lodge atmosphere, the pool area, the spa, the shop - there is never a shortage of things to do and see but also time to relax and unwind! The food was amazing and the team took careful care to make sure dietary restrictions were met. We were always full and happy thanks to Hidden and the kitchen team! There were breath taking dining experiences that truly were a highlight! The game drives are absolutely incredible - our family will never stop talking about our experiences and the incredible sights from our game drives (and at the lodge)! Once in a lifetime! A huge thank you to Vusi and Tonight for the epic game drives, teaching us about tracking and the animals on the reserve, helping to find ALL the Star Birds and so so much more! The little details and personal touches at every turn are what separates this lodge and the amazing staff makes it all happen! We cannot say thank you enough to the entire staff for making this an unforgettable experience! We cannot wait to return!

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Ngala Safari Lodge for our first safari experience. We both loved every minute of this trip and left wishing we had another week to stay at Ngala. The accommodation, staff and game drives were amazing to say the least. The staff truly go above "and beyond" for you and make it a very personal experience. The accommodation was lovely and the food was exquisite. The pool also acts as a watering hole for the elephants, so make sure you get there to say hi to locals when it's drinking time. The Ngala private game reserve was beautiful. The whole reserve is un-fenced and allows all the animals to roam freely. This truly adds variety to each game drive, as you never really know what new animals or experiences will be viewed when you set out. Our guide Mac, and tracker Sya, were the best! Their wildlife knowledge and passion for Ngala was remarkable, plus they were both so genuine and funny. A couple of tips for future travellers. 1. Bring a nice camera and lens to capture these moments. A phone is ok, but doesn't do this place justice. You get very close to most animals but not all. 2. Be prepared for an early start for the morning game drives. You depart before 6am, but you get coffee and fruit beforehand. The guides and trackers will also stop mid-morning for coffee and snacks. They provide blankets to rug up if it's cold as well. I just wanted to say thanks again to Sean, Herbert, Silence, Mac, Sya and all the Ngala staff for making this a truly memorable experience.

Almost perfect except for 1 big thing. The bookers made several big mistakes in booking plane/logistical plans that if I hadn’t caught would have spoiled several days. So triple check the itineraries and don’t rely on their making the best decisions.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay at Ngala Safari Lodge. It was our first safari experience and couldn't have asked for a better one. We were picked up at the airport and had an exciting drive to the lodge getting to see lots of animals. Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly by Sean who got us settled in. Our safarri ranger, Dyke, and tracker, Sunday, were very knowledgable and engaging. We saw most of the Big 5 and then some! Our butler, Connie, was sweet and warm with a lovely smile, who took good care of us. The food was just fantastic every time! Overall, we felt very special and pampered in this very picturesque, unique setting! Highly recommend Ngala Safari Lodge!

This is more than a hotel, or lodge, it is an experience you have to have at least once in your life, given the chance. We had the most amazing stay at Ngala, I know we will still be talking about it when we are old and grey. The property itself is beautiful, the food is exquisite, the room is sumptuous and comfortable, but what really makes it is the staff. From the minute you arrive you are welcomed like a long time friend. They go out their way to learn who you are as a person, what you need to make your stay perfect, and do everything they can to make it happen. It is very carefully and cleverly run. You are clearly on an itinerary that you don’t know about, so whilst you’re floating through the blissful experience, they will surprise you with a new and exciting adventure you weren’t even expecting. The sundowners in the evenings and Amarula chocolattes in the mornings are so special, and the rangers and trackers really know their stuff to get you the best sightings and experiences they possibly can. If you are considering it, just go. The pictures and reviews don’t do it justice, I promise it will be better than you even imagined. I really hope we get to go again one day, and know I will dream about my time here often.

Absolutely amazing stay. Ngala is safari 2.0 and perfect for anyone who has been to the Sabi Sands and looking to do something a little different. Ngala is a massive private reserve with an intentionally less developed road system leaving the area much wilder and less traversed than the Sabi Sands. You definitely have to have patience in your game viewings as sometimes the driving is at distance and the bush is really dense here. That said, you are richly rewarded in the quality of sightings that you get and the experience of some really fascinating animal behaviors. We had the early morning drive of a lifetime pursuing wild dogs alongside a pack of hyenas and vultures and later saw the celebratory reuniting of the entire pack which was incredible. We also witnessed a rhino fight in the bush, that was thrilling and even a little bit scary with the proximity we had. Our ranger Amy was really the best. Funny, charming, incredibly knowledgeable and so passionate about her job. And she makes a mean pink G&T! The lodgings and the service at Ngala are truly above & Beyond. The rooms are straight out of a movie set and the dining and common areas are just dreamy. The romance of Africa is alive and well at the camp. The food is delicious and plentiful and fresh. The number of healthy options (several vegetarian and vegan options included) available at lunch was so refreshing. I am not vegetarian or vegan but I opted for most of those dishes because of their creativity and taste. Loved the afternoon tea prior to game drives. The trip was a major milestone for us and the camp arranged a special private dinner for my husband's birthday on our veranda and they also arranged for him to go running in the bush with a tracker on his big day which was a lifetime wish fulfilled. Lastly, when FedAir changed our flight departure time at the last minute, Melanie, our local &Beyond agent stepped in at ungodly hours and made sure we got back to Joberg in time to make our flight.

Ngala Safari Lodge was an experience to remember! I can't even begin to put into words how amazing our stay was or how we felt waking up each morning, despite it being 5:30 am. This lodge was selected for us by our travel agent and I am thrilled that this was their choice. The service goes above and beyond. We were greeted by name, almost all of the time, regardless of which staff member walked by or saw us from a distance. We were always asked if we needed anything. The room was luxurious and you'd hardly ever notice you were so far from town. This was my first and only safari experience, so I have nothing else to compare this to, but I will say that being on a private reserve with the ability to go off road in the vehicles, accompanied by a ranger and tracker team that has a strong bond, really makes the experience. We had a group of 4 and Tara did a great job finding the right balance between all of the things we wanted to see on each of our 5 game drives. Her bond with G, our tracker, was noticeable from the moment we pulled away from the lodge on the first night. I suspect all the teams are like this too, but Tara and G made our experience absolutely wonderful. What can I say about the food...OMG it was amazing! I am sure people will say that about a lot of places, but what makes the difference here is that you realize you are miles from everything. Preparing fresh food and adjusting a menu choice at the last moment is really an impressive feat for some place that lacks the ability to grocery shop conveniently. The food was fresh. The food was also abundant! Meals and snacks take place all through the day. Great beverage choices too. So much variety and they really do cater to all your dietary needs. Foster, our butler, was on top of everything when it came to suggestions and adjustments for food preferences. If you want to buy some souvenirs, the gift shop has a lot of variety. Moses was very helpful in my selection of gifts for family and friends. I am sure I drove him crazy with pulling everything out and moving things around, but he never let me feel like I was being an annoying guest. He was patient and offered good advice on my gift selection. From mid-morning until mid-afternoon there is plenty of time to relax. Take advantage of the pool! While we weren't visited by elephants at the pool during our stay, it was still enjoyable. We also took advantage of spa services for relaxation. I'll stop there because I don't want to give away too many details about the special touches you will experience throughout the day on safari with Ngala. If you are considering a safari in South Africa, this place is not to be missed!
