This place is PERFECT for the very best safari experience. I have now visited around 8 times and every time it has been consistently high quality. The rooms are luxurious and comfy, the food is wonderful and the peace and quiet of the whole lodge is hard to describe. Corlia and James are wonderful hosts and the knowledge of the guides is second to none. We'll keep coming back as often as we can. Thank you again for a wonderful birthday celebration trip.

We had the best time in our honeymoon at Senalala. Our safari guide was so knowledgeable and amazing at tracking animals. The whole staff was super friendly and fun to share meals with. The room and lodge is welcoming and comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for a better time!

I can not say enough great things about this place. They totally make you feel at home--you are a friend, a family member, and a guest all wrapped into one. The great experience started before we even arrived. I had email correspondence with corlia before we got there, and she was just such a sweet person who was happy to help, and that carried on throughout the stay. She was like the perfect combination of manager, mom and friend! She was so hospitable and kind! Her husband james was always there and always willing to chit chat and talk about wildlife and rugby.. lol! He also taught me to make a mean cup of hot cocoa. They were both kind and genuine and made the time there exceptional. Now let me tell you about Geena (our guide). She was awesome 👌! She was just great-smart, fun and had such a passion for the animals and spotting them. We spotted a spring hare and she was so excited that it made it such a special find! She went out of her way to keep upbeat and have fun (even in cold rain and less than ideal conditions). She seemed to genuinely enjoy seeing the animals which made all of our sightings even more special! I just adored her and will definitely see her again someday (hopefully soon). The resort was beautiful and so homey. You felt completely safe and relaxed at all times. They utilized a help yourself approach....you can grab drinks whenever you want in the fridges (wine, soft drinks, beer, fruit juices) and/or hot drinks. The deck has a beautiful view over the watering holes and we saw so many animals drinking and swimming. The rooms were super comfortable w plenty of hot water and the soaking bath tub was fabulous. The beds were comfortable and they left you a chocolate on your pillow every night *also wanted to give a shoutout to the chef* we had so many great meals and loved the chicken schnitzel, chicken cordon blue, steak, oxtails etc. He did an amazing job every day and deserves high praises.…

where do I even begin talking about Senalala. we were lucky to have a great guide with geena. she was super friendly and very knowledgable. we messaged the lodge ahead of time about our problems finding wild dogs and she found them on our very first drive. she made us feel like part of the family. the entire staff (corlia, James, and taya) made us feel right at home and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. I really can't say enough about the atmosphere at this loge and highly recommend it.

You'll tell me it should be easy to describe the unforgettable, but it's looks more easy than it looks so I'll do in categories: - The place : in the middle of the Klaserie reserve in Greater Kruger, the drive to the lodge itself is already an adventure and a game drive in itself. You'll the arrive into a magnificent lodge were you'll be welcomed as family or friends. From the very vast and extra confortable rooms overlooking the water point, to the viewing deck and the common spaces when you can help yourself with whatever you like and notably and excellent wine selection, everything makes you feels at home. Add to this a nice pool to freshen up on hot days and you have a winner. - The food : the common meals add a lot to the experience. As there are very few rooms you'll always feel like at a big family dinner. The chef is too notch and prepares variety of simple and tastefully dishes everyday. Extra points for the marvellous desserts and breakfasts. - The people : as mentionned James and Corlya will make you feel like at home in a very friendly atmosphere. Having other experiences in safaris, the guide Geena and Talya are just top notch and absolutely passionate about their job and the bush. All the staff is very friendly and here to make you have the best of time even when bad weather is around. - The game drives : obviously the best part. We were only there for 30 secondes that we were already offered our first drive opportunity. Whatever the whether or conditions, Geena and Talya will do everything to offer you the best game experience. With them you're not driving around hoping to see something like in most parks: you are actively tracking and learning. The guides used a radio system to stay connected to other cars making it a very efficient track as everyone is helping each other out. That does not mean though that it'll be crowded or queuing to see anything. The rules of the reserve are strict when it comes to animals wellbeing and only two cars at the same time can enjoy a close sighting ensuring the best experience for animals and humans. And what sightings ! Since the guides can off track you can be assured to see the animals from very close (lions, hyenas, wild dogs etc...) The reserve in itself is magnificent with a vegetation that you won't found anywhere else. The cars are very spacious, well equiped and confortable. - The conclusion : a once in a lifetime experience combining a wonderful place, true love and respect of nature and great human beings. …

I visited Senalala with a group of friends, and we truly could not have had a better experience. It felt like home from the second we stepped in the lodge. The staff was warm, knowledgeable, and kind and made us feel so comfortable the entire stay. The lodge was cozy, food was great, and atmosphere was gorgeous and relaxing. I can’t wait to come back!!

Being back at Senalala after 4 years was an absolute pleasure. The staff, guide and management team around Corlia and James Steyn made it another unforgettable stay. Restructuring and enhancing the lodge, buildings and rooms during the pandemic has made it even more beautiful. Dining either inside (for those chilly days) or outside at a long table with all guests and the team is always fun. The food is great and the Senalala team went out of their way to cater to our needs: Gluten free + vegetarian was no problem for them. They even bought small gluten free pastry like rusts. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the beautiful deck overlooking the water hole, at the pool or in the well equipped gym. After having visited different safari lodges across Africa there is rarely any other lodge with such a high quality of guiding expertise. Taya, Geena, Johann and James took us on a wonderful journey every time you leave the lodge. Each of the two daily game drives were an absolute pleasure and we decided for a bush walk twice which opened a whole new world to us: tracking, understanding animal behaviour, learning about the little things. And we even ended up sitting in a dry river bed learning about bushcraft and different ways how to make fire. This lodge is so much more than just a big five safari lodge, it is our happy place in Africa. …

We just came back from another fantastic visit at Senalana. There are many lodges in the area to choose from, but Senalala is more "authentic" - you feel like coming home to the family.. Rooms are spotless clean and the the guides are extremely knowledgeable. Looking forward to our next visit.

Apologies that this has sat in my drafts for so long! Visited Senalala with my husband, sister and Brother-in-law back in June. We had the most amazing trip from start to finish. Kruger and Klaserie is a great reserve, but ultimately it was the team at Senalala which made our trip amazing. We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. I was about 8 weeks pregnant and let the lodge know before I arrived to check that would be fine. Corila (the manager) could not have been more wonderful. She even made sure there were 0% alcohol options for me ready for our arrival at the lodge so I could enjoy sundowners and not feel like i was missing out. The whole team really look out for all the guests and nothing is too much trouble. Standard safari lodge format: - Dawn game drive with stop for coffee/cake - Back to lodge for breakfast - Down time either side of lunch - mostly sat water-hole watching :) - Dusk game drive with a stop for sundowners - Back to lodge for dinner Fridges stocked with a huge variety of drinks (soft/hot/boozey) to help yourself at all times. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was buffet style - always yummy and plentiful and something different every day. Rooms are very spacious, rustic decor, patio with seating, big bathroom with large shower, bath and separate toilet. Loads of clothes storage and dressing table. All lodge staff were great, even a lovely turn-down service with pillow choccy. Cars are very comfortable, seat 6 people. 3 rows of two with a storage box for all your things in between. Geena, our guide, was fantastic - her knowledge and tracking skills were amazing and each of the guides truly care about you having the best trip and do all they can to make sure you get to see everything you'd like to (where possible). Max. 2 car policy at sightings and all guides across Klaserie that we came across took the wellbeing of the animals very seriously which was wonderful to see. We were very lucky and saw pretty much everything we could have hoped for thanks mostly to Geena's perseverance and skill as a guide. The guides must experience fantastic sightings every week, but their passion and love for it just doesn't seem to dim and is infectious. Making for almost a week of excitement and wonder in nature - it was just beautiful! And just the best fun - we all had such a laugh all week long! Prime example, we had struggled to get a good rhino sighting after a couple of quick glimpses. We were sat in the middle of the day water-hole watching and suddenly a male rhino just wanders by the watering hole. We went running for cameras and to tell anyone around the lodge that might want to see. Whereas the guides went off running bare foot to grab the vehicle to take us straight out for a closer look as they knew we hadn't had a proper viewing. That was their first thought...running and driving barefoot so we could get a great viewing! Brilliant! If you want soulless spa-type hotel luxury, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you want to visit somewhere peaceful and magical where you instantly feel part of a family and never want to leave....then don't hesitate to book Senalala! We hope to be back soon ourselves! Emily, George, Victoria & Matt …
