#3 of 15 Speciality lodging in Klaserie Private Game Reserve
Travellers' Choice
Baobab Ridge is like a home away from home. An intimate, 4 Star safari lodge with seven spacious, individual, air – conditioned cottages with private terraces overlooking the African bush. Our friendly staff who go the extra mile for our guests, home cooked meals and relaxing atmosphere is what we pride ourselves in. The beautiful sundeck and pool area overlook our private waterhole, as well as the bushveld and mountain range beyond. Dinners are usually served in our boma, by the open fire under the stars. Baobab Ridge is a small and intimate lodge with only 16 beds. The lodge can also be booked exclusively for up to 16 guests. Guests may see the Big Five, wild dog, cheetah and more! Children from age 6 are welcome at the lodge and if the lodge is booked exclusively, we have no age limits! The Klaserie Reserve, the largest private reserve bordering the Kruger, is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and open to the Kruger National Park and Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. It lies along the western border of the Kruger, with no fencing separating the reserve from the Kruger or the Timbavati; allowing the animals to roam freely between the private game reserves and the Kruger Park.

This was our first lodge to stay at in South Africa, and Baobab Ridge set the bar high! Our little cabin was situated right along the property’s fence line, and we woke up to zebra and wildebeest almost daily. The amenities were perfect, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and our guide, JV, was absolutely incredible. My husband and I were blown away by his tracking expertise and knowledge of all the flora and fauna of the bush. We loved every second we spent on the truck with him, and we are especially thankful for the extra time he allowed for us to get some exceptional pictures! We were able to snag pictures of each of the “Big Five”, and we had one of the most mind blowing elephant encounters of our whole trip thanks to him! JV is truly what made our stay on safari here an exceptional experience, and we are very grateful. All in all, this lodge is a little gem out in the bush with a fantastic atmosphere, lovely staff, and fantastic safari opportunities.

Wow, wow, wow, what an amazing find, a small intimate lodge, only takes 16 guests which allows for a real personal touch where the staff make the effort to know your name. Feels like home away from home. We were blessed with the most amazing game sightings on almost every drive. I have to commend our amazing guide JV who went beyond the call of duty to get us really up close to all that nature had on display. His knowledge was outstanding on all subject matters. A trip of a lifetime, we loved it!

Our Mauritius honeymoon couldn’t happen due to COVID but After many local choices we decided to choose Baobab Ridge as our honeymoon destination. What a time we had. Super exclusive and “homey” feel to it. The hospitality was absolutely amazing! The food was top quality and so delicious! JV our game ranger was one of the best that we’ve had, his tracking skills are phenomenal! Highly recommend a visit to the Baobab Ridge family!
