This is a simple camp. Rooms are not large but are very comfortable with good A/C. Food was excellent and the staff was exceptionally friendly and took great care of us. Nice views near the river. Game viewing was solid with several wild dog sightings and numerous lions. Overall, game viewing was a little more challenging than in some of the better known Kruger areas like Timbavati and Sabi Sands due to the thicker vegetation here. Very good value however!

We had a marvellous time here. The start was complicated by Airlink losing our cases, which did not arrive until we had been at the lodge for 3.5 days! However, Clare (head of reservations) was a total star and helped with some essential shopping in town which was delivered to the lodge, and which saved the day. We were there for a week and arranged a private jeep and guide. We had two guides, Saber for the first few days, and Shaun. Both were excellent. The wildlife was just incredible, I think our stay was longer than most (7 nights), but most definitely worth the extra time. We had six different sightings of African Wild Dog, which was the absolute highlight. We also saw Leopard (two sightings), White Rhino, Lion (including a kill), 3 different African Wild Cats, and the usual other amazing animals. The lodge is wonderful, low-key, quiet and surrounded by wildlife. We had a large group of elephants visit one afternoon, and heard lion, hyaena, and hippo at night. Andrew and Victoria were excellent hosts, the food was very good and plentiful. Just a wonderful place.

We stayed here in between Christmas and NY with our family and friends. The lodge is beautiful, small and personal just what we wanted. The accommodation was wonderful , clean and comfortable. Front of house Andrew and Victoria were incredibly attentive to us and friendly, nothing was too much. The food was fantastic, plentiful and again adapted to our needs if required. We had an incredible safari guide Elvis, so knowledgeable and kind. I really couldn’t fault any part of our stay. We went with our children (13 & 15) they also loved it! Everything worked out perfectly from the moment we arrived at the airport, transfers etc. I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting.

Ivory Wilderness camp was pure relaxation. Beautifully situated on the river. The game drives with our guide Warren were something very special. He brings his great knowledge of the Klaserie and the wildlife living there closer to his guests with great enthusiasm. The food was excellent, the accommodation was very clean, it was a great time for us! Balm for the soul. Thanks a lot Warren with your crew!

We traveled as a family group of 5 people and can't express how thankful we are to the whole team from Clare during booking, staff in camp with Prudence and Andrew in particular for their constant attention and service, and Craig as potentially our favourite guide ever (and between us we've done our fair share if safaris!) with his knowledge and enthusiasm for the game viewing; it left us with some great photos and memories both during the day and night, watching and following lions several times after dark. We all hope we will get the opportunity to return and would recommend Ivory Wilderness to anybody interested in a safari trip to South Africa.

I went to the Ivory Wilderness River Rock Lodge with my 28 and 24 year old sons and my older son’s girlfriend and had a really wonderful experience here. The staff are incredibly, kind, friendly, and accommodating. The rondavels ( not sure if I’m spelling that correctly) are very comfortable and have nice amenities. It is a small lodge so it’s an intimate experience but there is enough room to accommodate the guests in various seating areas around the lodge. It never felt the least bit crowded. We had a fun family from Belgium with us in our jeep and we enjoyed the morning tea and cookie breaks as well as the sundowner stops. The sunrises and sunsets are always breathtaking. Our guide was Shane!!! Can’t say enough about how great Shane is. He was an amazing tracker and did everything he could to find the animals we wanted to see and boy did we see some animals! He also knows a ton about trees and birds and plants and how they all fit into the ecosystem. He’s also a very cheerful guy with apparently limitless enthusiasm. He has some great stories too, mostly about being chased by angry momma elephants. Later my boys and I talked about the trip and they wished they had been able to spend more time on safari and less in Cape Town and I think that’s due to both Shane being the incredible guide he is and the lovely staff. The only negative is you get fed 6 times a day so bring clothes a size larger than you normally wear. :).

We had a truly wonderful stay here. While the ride out was 2 bumpy hours, it was totally worth it. The "rooms" were traditional rondavels with all the modern conveniences. The meals were amazing fine dining in the bush. But what really set the experience apart was the game drives, at least three hours early morning and late afternoon into the evening. The guides were extraordinary, extremely knowledgeable and loving the animals. Shane had infectious enthusiasm and Warren was an astonishing "elephant whisperer." An unforgettable experience.

Very good prestation, guides, a pleasant location in the klaserie reserve: comfortable rooms, good food, excellent and safaris in the morning and afternoon with lions and leopard. The bumpy access road is a bit long with your own vehicle but allows you to see animals (we were blocked by elephants)

We cannot rate Ivory Wilderness highly enough! We have just enjoyed 6 amazing days with our children (12 and 14) on the safari of a lifetime. Everyone had a wonderful attitude, with excellent service, delicious food and lovely accommodation. The knowledge of the guides was second to none and the experiences they created for us with the wildlife will stay with us for ever.

Not easy to find, even the arrival is an adventure First things first: Shane, the guide, convinced us with his charm, extraordinary, scientific and interesting information about nature, animals and plants and with an almost indescribable enthusiasm (thanks Shane). We will never forget the story of the gall wasp whistle. The animal observations are extraordinary and the respect for the animals and nature is always present with him (there should be more nature conservers like you). The service was very helpful, the young service team still needs a little patience. The food was partly very good (lunch) to still expandable (dinner). The rooms are good, absolutely clean, the shower sometimes without hot water. No matter what request was addressed, everyone was very helpful and courteous. The garden is beautiful and lovingly cared for, the pool is wonderful refreshment, seats on the wooden deck, under the boma, by the pool or in the main building are comfortable, with charm, very tasteful interior.
